Angelina Jolie Talks Politics and Passion Projects in Elle

angelina-jolie-elle

-This might be my favourite Angelina Jolie cover in a long time. Interviewed by John Kerry, the topics are heavy (they discuss her political passion projects, her UN Global Citizen of the Year Award, violence against women and climate change), while the black and white portraits are divine. I love that one of her on the phone.

Quincy Jones is on a roll when it comes to bananas interviews. In his chat with GQ, he says he once saw Ray Charles shoot heroin into his balls, he bought drugs from Malcolm X, and he was invited to Sharon Tate’s house the night they were all murdered by the Manson family.

Andrew Garfield says he’s open to the idea of a same-sex relationship and now I can’t stop fantasy casting his new boyfriend in my head. I’m leaning towards John Boyega but would also accept Jake Gyllenhaal as a suitable option.

-This thread on the history of Twitter’s most popular GIFs is the best.

-HBO’s new Alan Ball series Here and Now is getting terrible reviews. Vulture calls it “a mess of a series,” Variety says the show “strands its cast in episodes that are as undercooked as they are interminable,” and Sepinwall calls it “alternately suffocating and baffling, making almost every character as miserable to each other as they are to watch.” I’ve been side-eyeing Ball since I saw him at TIFF for his premiere of Towelhead and his post-film Q&A about sexual abuse was…questionable.

-In better TV news, this review of the first three episodes of Atlanta’s new season has me hyped!

-The Black Panther press tour continues to be a fashion delight.

-Heartbreaking news from Catastrophe star and creator Rob Delany, who revealed that his 2 year old son passed away from a brain tumor.

Omarosa and Keshia Knight Pulliamd compared their respective loyalty to Trump and Cosby on a recent episode of Big Brother.

Quentin Tarantino keeps apologizing and that’s all well and good. Now  it’s time for him to DO something about it to change the industry.

-Thanks to his Twitter bet, Stranger Things David Harbour is embarking on a mission to Antarctica with Greenpeace.

-The new Fifty Shades movie is actually getting decent reviews (for what it is), but I’m not sure I’m down with recasting the entire trilogy as an ode to the idea of consent. I only read the first book, but that is NOT the impression I was left with.

Jeff Goldblum makes out with some alien tentacles in this Thor: Ragnarok deleted scene. “You’re Thor! You can kill your sister!”

Taraji P. Henson is a woman scorned in the Acrimony trailer.

Donald Glover Talks Star Wars, Atlanta

donald-glover-esquire-cover

Donald Glover covers Esquire’s March issue. The interview is a bit dour but the photos are

-His EW interview is much better, in which he talks about how the wardrobe helped him get into character when playing Lando in the new Star Wars movie.

-I’ve been rooting for an Alias-style return to TV for Jennifer Garner for YEARS, but a comedy from Girls creators Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner is not what I had in mind.

-90201’s AnnaLynne McCord dished on all the animosity between her and Shenae Grimes during the show’s run. “When you’re that young — Shenae was 18, I was 20 — we got this crazy show that had so much hype around it and our egos were out of this world.”

-In a new clip from his Netflix interview with David Letterman, George Clooney talks about how Amal changed his life. “I felt that I met someone who I would absolutely trade my life for. I met someone that her life meant more to me than my life, and I’d never had that experience before.”

-Terrible: Jill Messick, Rose McGowan’s former manager, has died by suicide at age 50. Her family issued a seeting statement implicating the Weinstein press cycle, saying “seeing her name in headlines again and again, as part of one person’s attempt to gain more attention for her personal cause, along with Harvey’s desperate attempt to vindicate himself, was devastating for her.”

-Police are investigating Backstreet Boy Nick Carter after his rape accuser filed a report.

Kate Upton expanded on her allegations against Guess Co-Founder Paul Marciano, and it’s pretty horrific.

-This is an excellent look back at Michael Bay‘s dismal treatment of Megan Fox.

-Just when I thought I couldn’t love Julianne Moore more comes this story about how she once defended Alicia Vikander from a crude joke on set. Recalls Vikander “Julianne turned to him and said, ‘If you ever do that again, I’m walking out of here and I’m not coming back.’ She was just, like, ‘Don’t you f—ing say that again.’ It showed me that she had the power. And that meant so much to me.”

Drake paid for everyone’s shopping at a supermarket in Miami to the tune of $50k.

-The #WhatBlackPantherMeansToMe trend (and the inspiration behind it) is amazing.

-You know, for a movie the studio is trying to bury, Annihilation is getting pretty stellar early reviews.

Mo Ryan added up all the writers & directors who’ve ever been hired to work on a Star Wars film. The creative roster is 96% white men.

-It’s been a good week for celebrity real estate porn. Yesterday we got a peek at Jennifer Aniston‘s beautiful house, and now we see Jemima Kirke‘s amazing townhouse. I could live on that terrace.

-On last night’s Big Brother, Omarosa talked about what it was like working for Trump. “I was haunted by tweets every single day. Like, what is he gonna tweet next?…It’s going to not be okay. It’s not.”

Amy Schumer debuted the I Feel Pretty trailer on Ellen’s show, and I love the premise and the supporting cast (Busy Phillips, Aidy Bryant, Michelle Williams, Sasheer Zamata). It’s about a woman with low self-esteem who wakes from a head injury believing she is the most beautiful and capable woman in the world.

-The Killing costars Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos are re-teaming for a new series from Amazon, which I kind of love.

-Ooh boy, Joaquin Phoenix might play The Joker.

-The first Venom teaser trailer with Tom Hardy debuted and oof — it’s not great. Super generic and boring looking. And did they stick Nicole Kidman‘s terrible Big Little Lies wig on Michelle Williams? And they don’t even show Venom in costume! The fact that Sony is trying to make a movie about a Spider-Man villain but can’t actually use Spider-Man is a mess. (Also, I saw someone on Twitter say that Tom Hardy’s voiceover sounds like it was done my Terrance Howard, and now that’s all I can hear…)

Gillian Anderson Goes Nude For PETA

gillian-anderson-naked-peta

-The last time Gillian Anderson stripped down for an animal rights campaign, she posed with a gross, giant eel. The cat ears in her new campaign are a welcome twist.

-I love Amy AdamsWarhol-inspired cover shoot for Garage magazine.

Quincy JonesVulture Q&A is astoundingly entertaining. He snipes about what bad musicians The Beatles were (“Paul was the worst bass player I ever heard. And Ringo? Don’t even talk about it”), and dishes about dating Ivanka Trump (“She had the most beautiful legs I’ve ever seen in my life. Wrong father, though”).

-Speaking of old gossip, Richard Pryor’s widow confirmed he slept with Marlon Brando, and Twitter imploded.

-Ellen turned Milo Ventimiglia‘s appearance on her show into a wet tshirt contest, and I’m not complaining.

-Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan told Ellen that he “barely had a social life” while filming Black Panther.

-Is it getting weird that Bryan Fuller can’t seem to stick to a project these days?

Jennifer Aniston gave Architectural Digest a tour of her $21 million dollar home. I’m not sure if I’m still recovering from seeing pics of Hilary Duff and Mindy Kaling’s odd design choices,  but I’m really liking this. It looks like people actually live here.

Sarah Jessica Parker (who looks amazing these days) couldn’t keep it together when playing Mad Libs with Jimmy Fallon.

Scott Speedman is joining the cast of Grey’s Anatomy and I have never re-added a show to my DVR quicker…

-The Spice Girls officially announced a reuion tour. Say you’ll be there!

Tom Cruise shared a look at the helicopter stunt from his new Mission Impossible and it’s insane. He flew the damn thing himself!

-The closer we get to the Oscars, the more articles I’m seeing about how Three Billboards is a problematic mess. I like it but I also kinda agree?

Harrison Ford was a covert adviser to Solo: A Star Wars Story, giving advice and backstory to Alden Ehrenreich. I’m so intrigued by how this is going to turn out, seeing as there’s been lots of talk of Ehrenreich needing hand-holding and acting coaches to play Han.

-The first Deadpool 2 trailer delivers our first look at Josh Brolin as Cable.

-The ghosts of the past come back in the new Jessica Jones trailer, which looks so, so good! This is how you cut a trailer, Hollywood.
