-In news that is no way shocking, doctors are urging people to ignore Gwyneth Paltrow’s advice about how to fight covid.

-This is insane: Lady Gaga’s personal dog walker was shot multiple times in LA, and two of her French bulldogs were stolen. She’s offering $500k reward.

-Despite a Daily Mail article and some DeuxMoi chatter, Emma Watson‘s publicist insists she’s not stepping away from acting.

-In their People cover story, Mariska Hargitay recalls being “sad” and “devastated” when Christopher Meloni left Law & Order: SVU.

-Reply All’s Test Kitchen will no longer release the remaining episodes of the Bon Appétit-centered miniseries — which is a shame. Clearly, there were storytelling problems, but the POC employees who spoke out deserve to be heard.

-This is an excellent – if awkward – interview with the real-life white female film critic who is assumed to have inspired John David Washington‘s character to get so angry in Malcolm & Marie.

-I watched the Russo Brother’s Cherry starring Tom Holland the other night and … woof. Holland tries his best but it is a long, bleak slog.

-This oral history on the ending of Lost is a great read. Josh Holloway on the church scene: “We also got drunk, I think, while we did it. A little bit, you know, because we’re all celebrating. That was the last scene that we all did together. So we were slipping over to each other’s trailer and having a glass of wine, going back in and doing some more scene. It was great.”

-The documentary Framing Britney Spears is *finally* out in Canada legally this weekend via Crave.

-The Handmaid’s Tale dropped a trailer for its fourth season, which starts April 28. I forgot this show was still around…

Rihanna Is a Work of Art in Essence

–Rihanna is covering Essence to promote her new skin care line, and the stunning photo shoot is courtesy of artist Lorna Simpson, part of her ongoing project reinterpreting images of Black women who have posed in the pages of Ebony and Jet magazines.

-According to Ice T, Dr. Dre is home and doing well after suffering from a brain aneurysm.

-Oh boy. Armie Hammer’s finsta has leaked. He’s really, really bad at this.  Has he had zero media training? It’s like he didn’t even try to cover his tracks.

–Bella Thorne, of all people, has come to Hammer’s defense.

–Tom Cruise is now outsourcing his onset covid safety rants to robots.

-On THR’s podcast, Ben Affleck reflected on his relationship with Jennifer Lopez (“People were so fucking mean about her — sexist, racist. Ugly, vicious shit was written about her in ways that if you wrote it now you would literally be fired for saying those things you said”) and how it affected his career (“I was actually in the very worst position you can be in in this business, which is you can sell magazines but not movie tickets”).

–Kate Winslet explains why her husband changed his name back from Ned Rocknroll to something less insane.

–Kate also told a sweet story about her Sense and Sensibility costar Alan Rickman: “Whenever Al would go out to supper and anyone else would try and pay, he would somehow have phoned ahead or slipped his credit card ahead of the meal so no one even got a look at the check. He’d just say, ‘I’ve got two words for you: Harry Potter.’ And he became known for doing that.”

–Betty White turns 99 this weekend. She can never leave us.

–Kelly Clarkson thanked Jennifer Love Hewitt for being nice to her at an award show during her American Idol years — because most celebs weren’t. “You ran up to me right when [I was in the] final three of Idol…People were really mean to us, because we’re from a talent show, and it was the first season. Everyone was so rude to us on the carpet, at the show. It was so bad. It was a horrible experience. You came up to me, ran up to me out of nowhere, and said ‘Oh my gosh, I’m really rooting for you.'”

-The cast and creator of FXX’s You’re the Worst are reuniting for a fundraiser to benefit Feeding America. I basically started watching The Boys based solely on Aya Cash‘s participation, so I’m in.

–John David Washington, 36, addressed the criticism over the age gap between him and Malcom & Marie co-star Zendaya, 24. “I wasn’t concerned about it because she is a woman, Washington responded. “People are going to see in this film how much of a woman she is.”

–Ethan Hawke is making his superhero debut, joining Oscar Isaac in Marvel’s Moon Knight.

–Timothée Chalamet covers the new issue of GQ and talks about getting papped making out with Lily-Rose Depp on a boat last year (“I went to bed that night thinking that was one of the best days of my life. I was on this boat all day with someone I really loved, and closing my eyes, I was like, indisputably, ‘That was great.’ And then waking up to all these pictures, and feeling embarrassed, and looking like a real nob? All pale? And then people are like: ‘This is a P.R. stunt.’ A P.R. stunt?! Do you think I’d want to look like that in front of all of you?!”)

-How did I miss Regina King‘s gorgeous photo spread in Glamour’s Woman of the Year issue? Gagging.

-Pose’s Indya Moore looks amazing in Balmain on the cover of Vogue India. A a trans, non-binary person being on this cover is a big deal.

–Cardi B confirmed what we’d all guessed: she’s back with Offset. “It’s really hard not to talk to your best friend. And it’s really hard to have no dick. And it’s just like, I don’t know.”

–Lily Collins is trying to convince us that her character in Emily in Paris is only 22 and everyone just nope-d that real quick.

-This is a very good piece on the “she’s so brave” reactions to Billie Eilish’s recent pap pics: “Insisting upon being alive and comfortable isn’t ballsy — it’s just a far better option than self-loathing.”

-At last night’s Billboard Awards, Lizzo accepted her trophy in a black dress with the word “VOTE” emblazoned multiple times in white lettering and used her speech to encourage her supporters to raise their voices against suppression.

-Also, TMZ says that NBC censored Demi Lovato’s performance and didn’t show her full set, which was emblazoned by “VOTE” messages.

-Meanwhile, Demi was photographed looking cozy with Mod Sun, but her camp insists they’re just hanging out.

-100 Hollywood figures (including NBC stars like the This Is Us cast and Mariska Hargitay) sent a petition to Comcast and NBCUniversal executives protesting the timing of tonight’s Trump town hall, which is set to air opposite ABC’s Biden town hall. NBC News says the town hall will proceed as scheduled despite the growing backlash.

–The Queen has stepped out for her first public in person engagement since the start of the pandemic and neither she or Prince William were wearing masks. Considering the state of the UK these days, this seems… dumb.

–Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira‘s series adaptation of Americanah is not going ahead at HBO Max. This one hurts.

-Meanwhile, this is a good look at the recent wave of un-renewals, and whether the rising costs of covid-proofing shows could be the thing that finally levels Peak TV.  It also touches on the fact that most of the un-renewals so far have been series about, and often made by, women.
