Brad Pitt Cleared of Child-Abuse Allegations

Brad Pitt has been cleared of child-abuse allegations after the DCFS did not find evidence to support either the abuse claims or a pattern of misconduct between him and the children.

-Meanwhile, Brad made his first red carpet appearance since splitting from Angelina Jolie at last night’s Allied premiere, saying “It’s really sweet, everyone’s been very kind out here.”

-I really liked this story about how in times like these, it can feel like entertainment doesn’t matter. But it does.

-A parks and Rec writer posted a letter to America from Leslie Knope regarding Donald Trump. It may or not have made me tear up. (Ok, it did.)

-Meanwhile, everyone on social media is sharing this letter Aaron Sorkin wrote to his daughter about the election. Sure, I guess. I mean, this is the same guy who reportedly threw a female writer out of the Newsroom writing room for objecting to that episode which turned Don into a rape apologist, and who once said to a reporter “Listen here, internet girl” before giving her a lecture about how she needs to read a newspaper (even though she worked for one),  but sure.

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna have welcomed a baby girl they named Dream. And of course they made sure to document her arrival for a reality show special.

Julie Bowen addressed rumors that she’s feuding with her Modern Family costar, Sofia Vergara. I’d never even heard those rumours but now I’m intrigued!

Amy Sedaris and Chris Elliott are in a new webseries called Thanksgiving and I’m in!

Donald Glover isn’t slowing down after his Atlanta success. He just announced a new Childish Gambino album and shared the first new track in two years.

-In other exciting new music news, here’s a new xx track!

Billy Bob Thorton says his marriage to Angelina Jolie was doomed because “I never felt good enough for her.” Well, to be fair, he probably wasn’t.

-Passengers costars Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt charmingly discussed man boob sweat on today’s Ellen.

-I don’t really understand the first teaser trailer for Luc Besson‘s intergalactic film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. But on the plus side, is that Rihanna in a bowler hat?!

Emmys 2014: Best and Worst Dressed

Emmys 2014 fashion

Overall, I was pretty impressed by the Emmy red carpet. Maybe it was because the VMA fashions were so underwhelming, but I loved more Emmy looks than I hated. Of course, there were still some misses. Here are my five favourite and least favourite looks, and check out all the fashions in my MSN gallery.

BEST

Amy Poehler: This slinky Theia gown might be Amy’s career best to date. Eat your heart out, Will Arnett!

Julia Louis-Dreyfus: Simple and sleek, the Veep star was the picture of elegance in this Carolina Herrera pink dress (although the cameras made it look red).

Lizzy Caplan: There’s been a lot of chatter about how thin the Masters of Sex star looks lately, but that all disappeared the second she stepped onto the red carpet, looking like a goddess in this black Donna Karan Atelier gown with a flowing white back.

Julie Bowen: This Peter Som dress is pretty, but on her it’s a revelation when you consider all of her past fashion missteps.

Samira Wiley: It was a mixed bag for the Orange Is The New Black stars, but no one did it better than Poussey in this stunning yellow Christian Siriano dress.

WORST

Laura Prepon: Was this supposed to be ironic? Seriously, no one puts on this Gustavo Cadile dress and thinks “Yeah, I’m totally nailing it!”

Kerry Washington: I’m glad she was one of the few stars to not wear red, but this orange Prada was…not good. And the sparkly underwear beneath it wasn’t doing her any favours, either.

Mayim Bialik: It’s almost too easy to make fun of The Big Bang Theory’s style, but she was on a bit of a roll the past few red carpets, which makes this matronly look all the more heartbreaking.

Katherine Heigl: As I mentioned in my MSN gallery, this would have been a wonderful dress for someone like Glenn Close or Stockard Channing. But she’s 35! I guess she was trying to look presidential in honour of her new TV show, but this was a fail.

Michelle Monaghan: I’m a big fan of the True Detective star, but why did this Giambattista Valli Couture silk gown have sleeves?

SAG Awards: Best and Worst Dressed

The stars threw out the red carpet rule book at this weekend’s SAG Awards, where they let their freak flags fly one last time in their last big outing before the Oscars. Not all of the risks worked, though. Here are my picks for the best and worst:

BEST:

It’s such a relief to see Amy Adams rebound so strongly after her American Hustle-esque Golden Globe gown. I love the colour and the neckline of this Antonio Berardi dress.

Also rebounding from the Golden Globes is Anna Gunn, who graduated from a too-pale gown to this killer, midnight blue Monique Lhuillier sparkler with a cute Breaking Bad-themed clutch.

Jennifer Lawrence also took a big step up from her GG gown in this sequined Dior Haute Couture. I loved it when I first thought it was just black, but I loved it even more once I figured out it was actually multi-coloured.

It’s not often that Sofia Vergara makes my best dressed list (never, actually), but she finally managed to pour herself into a super tight dress that I don’t hate. She’s doing her usual vamp thing, but this one is actually not too over-the-top. I could have done without the necklace, but baby steps…

It’s safe, it’s simple, it’s similar to something she’s worn before, but Jennifer Garner’s Max Mara dress is totally working for her. Love the giant earrings, too.

WORST:

Cate Blanchett can pretty much make anything work — even this odd Givenchy gown — but she’s really stretching our limits with this one. We’re not sure what’s worse: the tacky pink sequin detailing or the maternity-style draping.

Sandra Bullock’s high-sheen Lanvin dress looks like it escaped from a pile of rejected bridesmaids dresses. The giant bow and the metallic heels aren’t helping, either.

I can’t, Kerry Washington. I just can’t. You’re actually hurting my soul a little with this Prada midriff madness.

I’m usually ok with a jumpsuit on a red carpet, especially for an awards show like this one. But the colour on Julia Roberts’ Valentino outfit seemed dated. Also, if it was darker, I think it would have camouflaged the awkward drop crotch and clinginess around the hips.

I appreciate that Julie Bowen took a big swing with this risky Carolina Herrera dress and it’s certainly interesting. I just don’t think interesting always translates into good. Also, when she was being interviewed by E!, there was an obvious tear on the seam of her bodice. It’s strange that her people let her on camera without fixing it first.
