Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson are People’s Most Beautiful

–Goldie Hawn, her daughter Kate  Hudson and granddaughter Rani Rose are the first multigenerational group to appear on People’s annual “Most Beautiful” issue.

-SNL’s Cecily Strong, who lost her cousin, shared a powerful essay on what it’s like to grieve in quarantine.

–Tom Holland helped Jimmy Kimmel’s three-year-old celebrate his birthday by surprising him with a message from Spider-Man.

–Chris Evans getting in on the Stanley Tucci love is adorable.

-Eek. Ellen Pompeo is usually pretty woke but this video that’s been circulating today is a bad look.

–Halle Berry says she nearly died on the set of 2002’s Die Another Day. “I am supposed to be trying to be all sexy with a fig — and then I end up choking on it. And [Pierce Brosnan] had to get up and do the Heimlich. So not sexy, so not sexy. He was there for me, and he will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world.”

-I’m pretty done with Star Wars IP for awhile, but good on Russian Doll’s Leslye Headland for developing a SW series at Disney Plus.

-I haven’t loved Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere, mostly because the characters in the book were very understated which made their systemic white privilege so insidious whereas in the show Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington are chewing through scenery like every line will be part of their Emmy reel. But the finale (which veers widely from the book’s ending) was quite affecting.

-The end of Empire — which was forced to wrap up two episodes earlier than planned when the pandemic shut down production — did well in the ratings. Meanwhile, Taraji P. Henson told EW: “As an artist, to not be able to finish something that you started, that hurts me. I feel incomplete. I don’t ever start something and don’t complete it. And so, for me, it’s deep; I have to finish, or this will haunt me for the rest of my life and career.”

-I kind of love that Pink is crowd-sourcing all of her baking dilemmas.

-Film Twitter is full of bad takes, and the one that circulated yesterday about There Will Be Blood was a doozy. Don’t let film bros make you hate a movie you like. But also, don’t hate on it just because film bros love it.

–Mandy Patinkin‘s son quizzing his parents on texting abbreviations is exactly what I needed to watch today.

-Hollywood is starting to make plans for what TV and movie productions will look like once they re-open.

-A little over five percent of the 135 features originally selected for SXSW 2020 have opted in to stream on Amazon Prime from April 27-May 6.

-The novel Normal People didn’t knock my socks off the way it did with others, but Hulu’s adaptation is getting gushing reviews so maybe I’ll like the TV version better?

-Whew, this trailer for a new Netflix documentary hit me right in the heart guts.

Ansel Elgort Gets Naked for Charity

–Ansel Elgort trended today because he posted a nude photo to Instagram with the caption “OnlyFans link in bio”, but instead of sending people to a paid porn site, the link goes to a GoFundMe page for buying meals for Brooklyn hospital staff. That’s both cringingly thirsty and kind of clever.

-Congrats to the internet’s favourite celebrity couple Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith, who welcomed their new baby girl.

–J.Lo and A-Rod are trying to buy the New York Mets. That’s one way to combat self-isolation boredom, I guess.

–Tiffany Haddish was on Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s Red Table Talk and got blunt about what she’s looking for in a guy — and it isn’t what you think: “I prefer small penises because I feel like small ones respect you. They’re kind. They buy you nice gifts. They take you nice places. They’ll come and clean your house; fix your cars for you. Small penises are penises of service. Big penises just do whatever they want to do.”

–Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post on COVID-19, animal welfare and wet markets.

–Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated the Queen’s 94th birthday with a video call with her and Baby Archie.

-I don’t really know much of Rafe Spall besides the fact that he’s that guy from Life of Pi and Just Mercy, but goodness this is a great interview. On losing weight for roles, he said “I understand it, but you’ve got to be very careful with peddling the basic idea that being thin is happy and being fat is unhappy because all my problems are the same, regardless of the size of my waistline… When I’m extremely disciplined and not eating anything my wife doesn’t find me attractive – what she finds attractive is eating together and the sensuality of food. Look, eating nothing but fish and salad for 12 weeks is the opposite of sex.”

-I’m assuming this live tweet of Anna Kendrick‘s sex doll show on Quibi is far more entertaining than the show could ever be.

–Andie Macdowell and her daughters Rainey and Margaret Qualley wanted to go to a closed park so badly, they crawled under a fence to get in. Tom Brady also tried to work out in a closed park. Celebrities, “closed” signs apply to you too!

–Rainn Wilson had his Office costar Jenna Fisher on Instagram Live, and she showed off her Dundee Awards.

–Jimmy Fallon quizzed costars Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer on which one knows more about the other. Spoiler alert: it didn’t go well.

–Kate Hudson celebrated her 41st birthday with a social distancing party.

–Kate Beckinsale isn’t taking any criticism about the age gap between her and Goody Grace.

–Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon are back at it in the Trip to Greece trailer.

Brad Pitt Turns Weatherman

–Brad Pitt made a 12-second appearance on John Krasinski‘s web show and it’s all anyone can talk about. (Fastforward to the 7-min mark.) The power!

-Meanwhile, Alia Shawkat of Arrested Development fame was spotted riding her bicycle over to Brad Pitt’s gated community on her birthday this weekend. But everyone’s still insisting they’re just friends.

–Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse are still going strong and are isolating together.

-In advance of Friday’s hearing against the Associated Newspapers, Meghan Markle‘s lawyers laid out their charges of invasion of privacy and copyright infringement against the Mail on Sunday. Meanwhile, she and Prince Harry sent letters to various British tabloids, making it clear they would no longer deal with them.

–Cole Sprouse had a rough weekend. He took to his Instagram Stories to yell at fans who doxxed him and speculated about his relationship status with Kaia Geber.

–Eva Mendes explained to an Instagram commenter why she doesn’t post pictures of her life with Ryan Gosling: “Since my children are still so little and don’t understand what posting their image really means, I don’t have their consent. And I won’t post their image until they’re old enough to give me consent. As far as Ryan and I, it just works for us this way, To stay private.”

–Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are burying the hatchet on their “feud” for charity. The winner will have them to fly to their house and set up a lemonade stand with them.

-The cast of Chuck reunited on Zoom for a table read of an episode from season 3.

-Speaking of fun Zoom reunions, the cast of That Thing You Do did a rewatch party.

-Stumptown stars Cobie Smulders and Jake Johnson reunited on Instagram, and she sang “Let’s Go to the Mall” from How I Met Your Mother.

-Angel star J. August Richards came out as gay during in an Instagram chat today with Sarah Wayne Callies, his co-star on the new NBC show Council of Dads. “I knew that I could not portray this gay man honestly without letting you all know that I am a gay man myself…and I’ve never done that with the people that I’ve worked with.”

-There are rumours that Marvel is planning a virtual Hall H on the Saturday of Comic-Con to release trailers and really all studios should be doing this.

–Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani‘s The Lovebirds, which was supposed to premiere in theatres on April 3, just got a Netflix release date instead: May 22.

–Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson opened up about the intense coronavirus symptoms they were dealing with and it sounded horrible.

–Oprah‘s TV doctors keep screwing up when it comes to covid-19.

–Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis announced a partnership with Stephen Amell‘s Nocking Point to sell “Quarantine Wine,” with 100% of profits going to four different covid-19 relief charities. I wish when celebrities sat in their mansions and urged fans to buy things/donate to charity, they’d start by telling us how much they’ve donated or what material thing their doing with their wealth to also help. That would make these things so much more palatable. This is PR 101.

–Keira Knightley played “Yesterday” on her teeth(!) and it’s surprisingly amazing.

–Stanley Tucci making cocktails on Instagram is weirdly hot.

-I don’t know why this old Jesse Eisenberg interview made the rounds on Twitter again this weekend, but I will watch it whenever it crosses my timeline. His “hey, you’re on my time” makes me double take every time, even though I know it’s coming.

-The honest trailer for Cats is honestly delightful.

–Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix show, Hollywood, completely reimagines the golden age of Tinseltown and stars Patti LuPone, Jim Parsons, Queen Latifah, Holland Taylor, and Darren Criss.
