The X Files Is Probably Going to Continue, Whether We Want It To Or Not

-So, that X Files finale actually happened, huh? I still can’t decide if one great episode was worth sitting through two mediocre ones and three terrible ones. And instead of a thank you to fans, that ending felt like a slap in the face.  Not that it matters: David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson both teased a return on social media, and Chris Carter says it’ll happen whenever they can work out scheduling. And despite the fact that pretty much every critic on Earth slammed it, the finale’s ratings were good.

–Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a terrifying PTA mom in this promo for Those Who Can’t. I watched a season 3 ep of Buffy last night (to cleanse our palette from TXF terribleness) so this is a hard transition.

–Stephen Colbert conducted the most awkward interview known to man with Casey Affleck last night. It got so cringe-worthy that Colbert suggested they fight.

-Today’s Lenny email landed in my inbox this morning with the subject line “Lena Dunham Stands With Kesha.” Yup!

-Meanwhile, The Daily Beast posted a really good summary of the Kesha v. Dr. Luke saga.

–Chris Rock is set to “take shameless advantage of a shameful situation” during the Oscar monologue. Here for it!

-I need to catch up with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and this interview with Vincent Rodriguez III, who plays Josh Chan, makes me wanna.

–Bill Simmons‘ The Ringer (which I’m calling Grantland 2.0) will launch on Medium — which is huge for Medium.

–Aaron Paul still feels like “an asshole” about hyping a fake BreakingBad spinoff.

-Check out this adorable Parenthood reunion. I love that they still hang out.

–Samantha Bee taught Syrian refugees important American phrases like “Netflix and Chill” on her new show.

–Danny Pudi and Alan Tudyk just joined a new NBC show about superhero.

-This is NUTS! Empire is leaving Canadian network TV and heading directly to Shomi instead. Let’s hope this isn’t a sign of things to come.

–Jimmy Fallon played Catchphrase with Hugh Jackman last night.

–Rooney Mara says the gender pay gap is “a side effect of something much greater.” Her answer about the white-washing epidemic is a little less direct.

-I love Flaunt’s Beyonce photo shoot, but they’re yet another publication that couldn’t get her to give an interview.

-Wait, so Us Weekly is pinning the Jon Hamm/Jennifer Westfeldt split on her lack of wanting kids? Jesus.

–Anne Hathaway says Robert DeNiro loves The Bachelor, and has the receipts to prove it.

–Patrick Dempsey just joined the cast of Bridget Jones’s Baby. lololol

-The dubsmash wars continue with the Agents of Shield cast doing “Wrecking Ball.” Hayley Atwell told us this weekend she was confident the Agent Carter cast was going to win, but that was probably before she saw Patton Oswalt rocking a tank top.

-After hearing Hayley talk about how much she needs a boyfriend (and gushing about Chris Evans — repeatedly), I was kind of shipping them. But now it looks like he’s back with Minka Kelly. Again.

-I am always, always, always going to click on a Buzzfeed headline that’s simply titled “Hey Ed Westwick, Why?”

-My favorite quote from the NYT’s profile on Idris Elba: “Chris Pine is an attractive guy…but he looks like a block of uncooked tofu next to Idris Elba.” Seconded.

–Amy Schumer is over the Who Wore It Best stuff.

–Jesse Eisenberg would like to remind you that he’s making a very serious, very important superhero movie. That just happens to be based on a comic book, but it’s still VERY SERIOUS, guys!

–Viola Davis calls out Hollywood for ignoring dark-skinned women in her EW interview.

-What did everyone think about Stephen Colbert’s debut (knowing that we can’t really judge the first night)? I loved that they included some truly surreal, nerdy humour (like that bit about a cursed amulet forcing Colbert to do an in-show ad for Sabra hummus), but the monologue underwhelmed, considering he had nine months to work on it. I did like his introduction of a goatee’d George Clooney: “Thank you for being here, and thank you for coming dressed as your evil twin.”

-Here’s the trailer for the Angelina Jolie-produced Sundance hit, Difret.

-Is it weird that I kinda want Ronda Rousey to star in everything? I don’t even know if she can act. I just want her to glare intimidatingly at dudes.

–Ellen Degeneres called her American Idol stint “one of the worst decisions I’ve made.”

-Wow, the Guardian gave Tom Hardy‘s Legend two stars, but you’d never know that from the poster.

-I was really not expecting the trailer for Krampus, a holiday movie starring Adam Scott and Toni Collette, to take a turn into horror. But Krampus is what I call myself during that time of the month, so I probably shouldn’t have been surprised…

-Two new trailers are here for Todd Haynes’ Carol starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.

-According to the new promo, Margo Martindale is in the new season of The Good Wife? But I quit that show, dammit!

-A new trailer for Room has landed. Brie Larson is already getting Oscar buzz for this one. Seeing it next week at TIFF!

–Jessica Alba’s all-natural product line Honest is being sued for over $5M for claims that the ingredients aren’t so natural after all.  Time to swoop in for the kill, GOOP.

-Speaking of lawsuits, the Daily Mail is suing Gawker. Can you imagine all the stuff that’s going to come out in discovery? *grabby hands*

-Is it just me, or is Kate Hudson winning Instagram lately?

-Well, this isn’t good. People is reporting that Robert Pattinson and FKA twigs have “drifted apart.”

-Every time Selena Gomez posts lingerie pics, I feel like I need to scrub my eyes with steel wool.

–Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were spotted together actually looking … happy? Ruh roh.

-The Guardian broke the rules and wrote about Stephen Colbert‘s previews of his new show. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound very promising.
