Brad Pitt Gets Deep in GQ

Brad Pitt GQ

-God lord, the new Brad Pitt interview in GQ brought me endless amounts of joy today. Reading it was like playing “faux-deep thoughts” bingo. Therapy talk? Check! A mention of his new matcha tea ritual? Check! A David Foster Wallace quote? Check!  Talk about his new understanding of R&B? Referring to his face as “this façade”? Check! A Churchill quote? Check!  The whole article is so beautiful I’m tempted to get it laminated…

Mark Hamill is the latest Star Wars star to prank some unsuspecting fans and their reactions were priceless.

-Yes, Stephen Colbert’s joke was really, really dumb — but the campaign to get him fired is even dumber.

-This new featurette on The Mummy actually makes it look…good?

-Congrats to Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tasha McCauley, who are expecting their second child. I didn’t even know they had a first!

Chris Evans says it’s “beyond misplaced” to glibly criticize Jimmy Kimmel‘s healthcare monologue.  Listen to Captain America!

-In any case, the monologue already has incredible reach.

Sofia Vergara took to Instagram to slam Star magazine for “fake” report about a divorce from Joe Manganiello, saying “The editor of this mag is an idiot.”

-This is a great take on how Marvel is undercutting Wonder Woman with their lack of promotion.

Amanda Peet looks back on her biggest roles and it’s kind of amazing how much she’s done.  I kind of love that she’s still not ok with Bent being cancelled.

-The Flash’s big reveal on this week’s episode revealed the show’s biggest flaw: its own formula.

-I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that The Handmaid’s Tale is getting a second season, but the first season covers the whole book so what are they going to do?

-A new report says that unlike what we’d expect, Kate and William don’t have a lot of staff to help them out at home.

-The Dark Tower trailer is here and the reviews are mixed. I’m ok with it, but it definitely feels like it gives way, way too much away.

The Defenders trailer is getting a lot of love, mostly because it makes fun of Iron Fist a lot. This moment in particular is getting mocked a bunch. (I think it’s a special kind of actor who knows what to do in the background during a group fight scene when it’s not “their turn” — and then there’s this type.

Gal Gadot Says Beyoncé Inspired Her Wonder Woman

gal-gadot-wonder-woman

Gal Gadot‘s hair looks oddly cropped on the cover of W, no? In the interview, she talks about listening to Beyoncé before her Wonder Woman audition, and finding out she was pregnant while shooting Justice League.

-I haven’t watched Survivor in years but it’s back in the news because of last night’s episode, which featured a contestant brutally outing a few team member as transgendered during the tribal council.  The outed contestant wrote a moving essay about the experience, while the outee profusely apologized and gave an interview saying “If he wants to shoot me, I’ll hand him the gun. I deserve this.” Jeff Probst was pissed, but no one seems to be putting any blame on CBS for deciding to air it.

Jenna Elfman took part in a Reddit AMA to promote her new show Imaginary Mary but all anyone wanted to ask her about was Scientology.

-The best thing about both The Leftovers and Fargo returning this month is that we’re swimming in fantastic Carrie Coon profiles.

-Meanwhile, here’s a good refresher on where the last season of The Leftovers left us.

-Lost and Leftovers creator Damon Lindelof explains why he thinks bingeing TV shows is bad and why viewers deserve a break between episodes. I don’t disagree.

-Are Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes getting ready to going public? Us Weekly’s magic 8-ball points to “yes.”

-In the latest issue of THR, Stephen Colbert dishes on his angst and anger over why the election felt “like somebody dying.”

Chris Evans proves himself to be even more of a unicorn than we assumed by revealing that he’s never had a bad breakup.

-The Cannes lineup has been announced, and Nicole Kidman will star in not one, but four films there.

-Adding high-profile TV projects for the first time, Cannes will also screen two episodes of David Lynch‘s Twin Peaks and Jane Campion‘s Top of the Lake 2 as special events.

-The Star Wars Celebration event featured a moving tribute to Carrie Fisher and I seem to have something in my eye…

-Not surprising but still happy-making: the reviews for The Handmaid’s Tale are glowing.

-Did you like Big Little Lies? Then you’ll be happy to hear that there are four(!) more Liane Moriarty adaptations in the works.

-Orphan Black fights for the future in this trailer for the final season.

-I don’t disagree with this article about how Lena Dunham is a great actress on Girls. This scene from a few weeks ago took my breath way.

Britt Robertson builds a fashion empire in the trailer for the Netflix series Girlboss.

Elle Fanning plays a transitioning teen in the trailer for the controversial 3 Generations.

Kim Kardashian Talks Taylor Swift, OJ Simpson

-Despite my disdain for all things Kim Kardashian, I do find her interviews to be fascinating. Ignore all the nipple shots in her latest GQ cover story and focus on the juicy tidbits — like how the interviewer can barely sit through a 2-minute mind-numbing phone call between her and Kanye, or how she casually mentions that she went through the bag her dad removed from OJ Simpson‘s home during his arrest and that she didn’t find a murder weapon, or how Taylor Swift‘s rep drops the ultimate clapback statement: “Taylor does not hold anything against Kim Kardashian as she recognizes the pressure Kim must be under…Taylor cannot understand why Kanye West, and now Kim Kardashian, will not just leave her alone.” Jesus Christ, that’s good.

-And of course, immediately there’s rants about why we’re dumb to care about this cover story and celebrity culture in general. Luckily, there’s also already some thoughtful replies.

-Speaking of the Kardashians, OJ Simpson is reportedly ready to take a paternity test for Khloe.

-Why yes, GOOP. I *would* like to take a peek inside Gwyneth Paltrow’s NYC apartment! The photos are so nice that it almost makes up for the fact that they used the word ‘artisinal’ twice in the first sentence– or that elsewhere in this week’s edition she recommends $70 shampoo.

-Also, I’m a gonna need someone to explain Gwynie’s latest outfit to me.

-Congrats to Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who are expecting baby No. 2.

-What we didn’t see in the Red Hot Chili Peppers edition of Carpool Karaoke: Anthony Kiedis helped save a baby.

Spice Girls might replace Sporty and Posh on tour? Someone hug Emma Stone.

-In China, Warcraft isn’t just doing better than it did in the U.S; it’s breaking records. Which means that movies can now be total flops domestically — and studios won’t care.

David Duchovny says he knows the X-Files revival’s problem was: there was not enough of it. Um yeah, that wasn’t it.

-Who’s winning the Scott Wars: Scott Foley or Scott Speedman? #TeamBen

Stephen Colbert made a life-size Liam Hemsworth “doll” for you to admire, but it’s not for sex!

-Someone actually found a use for Spencer Pratt: employing the expertise he gained from his gross, PR-hungry life to comment on staged photo ops. It’s actually pretty insightful.  “That’s Angelina-Brad Pitt 1998-type shit.”

-Meanwhile, The Sun reporter who wrote the Taylor/Tom story insists the pics aren’t staged.
-Guys, I just found out about the Taylor Swift conspiracy ring that’s convinced she’s secretly gay and now I want to read about nothing but this forever.

-Supergirl has just found their new Superman: Tyler Hoechlin. I have a friend who tried to convince me to watch Teen Wolf based solely on this guy. I…did not.

-I like Amy Schumer’s Vogue cover way better than her Vanity Fair cover. (Speaking of Amy, I’ve been catching up on her show and watched one yesterday that featured Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Charles AND Sam Rockwell. If I had fame, that’s exactly what I would be using it for as well.)

-Meanwhile, Anna Wintour traded jobs with Amy Schumer in a new Vogue.com video.

Lin Manuel Miranda just launched a merchandise site to support the victims of Orlando. Also, he confirmed that he’s leaving Hamilton in July but tweeted: “We’re filming the original cast before I go. WE GOT YOU.”

-Early reviews suggest the new season of OITNB starts off rough, but pays off in its second half.

-Good Morning America had footage from the Ugly Betty cast reunion and it was awesome!

Orphan Black is ending. But we already knew that it was only supposed to run for five seasons … but I was worried the network would try to bleed it dry. I’m trying to watch this season and even though it’s better than last, I still have no freakin’ idea what’s going on.

-She may be the thirstiest celeb, but I kind of want to hang with Emilia Clarke. Probably because of that.

-This teaser for Pixar’s newest short is beyond adorable.

-God bless The Toast for giving us a ‘If Oscar Isaac Was Your Boyfriend’ article before shutting down. I don’t know why, but this is the part that got me right in the heart guts: “If Oscar Isaac were your boyfriend, sometimes he’d jokingly call you his ‘problematic fave.'”

Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy are in a new movie together and I don’t even care about the plot so I’m just gonna watch this trailer on mute, k?
