Demi Lovato Poses Topless, Talks End of Friendship with Selena Gomez

demi-lovato-complex

-I kind of wish Complex didn’t go with the topless photo of Demi Lovato on their cover (especially because that inside photo of her holding a knife is so dope). In the interview, she talks about why Selena Gomez is no longer part of her squad, and how she was the one who pursued Wilmer Valderrama.

Kate Winslet talks about dealing with two divorces while in the public eye. Spoiler alert: it sucked.

-Oof. Meryl Streep is the latest actress to pull the “I’m a humanist, not a feminst” crap. This one really hurts, guys.

Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long are dunzo after two years of dating. But on the plus side, she’s lined up a new TV gig.

Blake Lively is shutting down Preserve, and her statement about it is everything we could have hoped for. “It’s very exciting and it’s also incredibly scary. I never thought I would have the bravery to actually do that, to take the site dark…” Guys, this is so exciting! I’m being so, so brave to fail like this!

-Glee’s Naya Rivera just welcomed her first child.

Trevor Noah’s Lena Dunham impression is pretty on point.

Emily Blunt doesn’t really want to talk about being cheated on by Michael Buble, mm-kay?

-Is it weird that I’m now intrigued by Fox’s Grease Live now that Carly Rae Jepsen and the awesome BFF from You’re The Worst have joined the cast.

Matt Damon appeared on Ellen and clarified his Guardian comments, and he made it worse. “I was just trying to say actors are more effective when they’re a mystery…it’s stupid. It’s painful when things get said that you don’t believe.” Jesus F. Christ, do they pull people aside during acting school and surgically remove the phrase “I’m sorry” from their vocabulary and replace it with “I didn’t mean to offend anyone”?? ‘Cause who you are as a person and your hurt feelings aren’t the goddamn point. The point is that you’ve played gay characters before, and I’m pretty confident no one in the industry questioned whether the audience would believe you as a straight man. Of course they didn’t, because audiences are smarter than that. I love the Bourne movies, but that doesn’t mean I need to believe you could kill a man with a rolled up magazine in real life. IT’S ACTING. We get it. But if you’re going to parrot some old school ingrained industry stupidity, you better come at us with something more articulate than a standard celebrity non-apology.

-On the plus side, this skit where he relives his big roles with James Corden is cute, so that’s something I guess?

-In other late night cuteness, Rob Lowe, Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs play Password with Fallon, while Julianne Moore plays Box of Lies.

-Meanwhile, I actually kind of liked Rob Lowe’s new comedy. Didn’t see that one coming.

-The Serial podcast (which I love) is about to become a TV show (which sounds like something I won’t love).

-Well crap, now I really want to see Emma Stone as a superhero.

Viola Davis talks about preparing her Emmy speech, and I love her.

-Here’s the trailer for Meadowland, starring Olivia Wilde and Elizabeth Moss.

Julianne Moore, Claire Danes, Adam Driver Are the New Royals

julianna-moore-w-cover

-I really like W magazine’s New Royals covers (especially Julianne Moore‘s and Claire Danes‘). Allison Williams‘s doesn’t even look like her, though.

Stephen Colbert had his first truly great interview on his new show last night when he chatted with Joe Biden on death, faith, and family.

Beyonce‘s my new hero thanks to her giant wine glass. I really hope she calls it Big Joe.

-This blind riddle is totally about Justin Theroux, right?

-Dammit. That Daily Mail report about Nicole Kidman joining Elisabeth Moss for the second season of Top of the Lake turned out to be false. That would have been killer!

Alison Brie really doesn’t need any more photos of your junk. Thanks, tho.

-I didn’t watch Under the Dome after the first season because I value my brain cells too much, but the reviews of the finale are HILARIOUS. So angry!

-“You try being 22, having a period and staying away from Google.” Jennifer Lawrence is all about the truth telling.

-I have a fall TV spoiler ban, but I don’t think the new Scandal trailer counts because really, who cares about Scandal?!

-The second half of this article about the rise of slog TV is so good. Nothing makes me feel more exhausted than seeing an ad for the new seasons of The Leftovers or The Affair.

-It’s weird that Shiri Appleby is following up her UnREAL breakout with a show that looks DOA. I guess she should grab that CBS money while she can.

-I didn’t realize Donald Glover was in The Martian until I saw this new clip. That must be why he’s at TIFF. I’ll be seeing him tomorrow night at Jason Reitman’s live read of The Princess Bride (now with Rachel McAdams as Buttercup!). I’ll try to sneak a Periscope or two if you’re interested.

Natalie Portman premiered her new movie at TIFF yesterday (I love how she cut off all questions about her dress at the pass), and she talked about how Broad City made her insecure about Garden State.

-I don’t know anyone who still watches Grey’s Anatomy, but it’s always good to see Joey Lauren Adams getting work.

Joss Whedon cut this shirtless Chris Hemsworth scene from Age of Ultron. But whyyyyy???

Neil Patrick Harris accepted Seth Meyer’ Actathalon Challenge last night. This is kind of impressive!

Norman Reedus, stop making it so hard to like you.

-The X-Files reboot will have its premiere at New York Comic-Con.

Jessica Simpson says the show that made her a household name is her biggest financial mistake because logic!

-Here’s the trailer for Michael Moore’s Where to Invade Next, which premiered at TIFF last night and is one of the few films here gaining some heat.

-Here’s the first trailer for Sarah Silverman and Josh Charles’ I Smile Back. Seeing it next week. This one might hurt…

Johnny Depp Channels Matthew McConaughey in New Dior Ad

-I couldn’t even get through Johnny Depp’s entire Dior ad. My cringe muscle was spasming. Seriously, did he think we needed *more* reasons to mock him?

-The VMAs continue to tear everyone apart, and it’s glorious. Demi Lovato and Kathy Griffin are fighting againMiley Cyrus is pissed about that Nicki Minaj‬ confrontation, and Taylor Swift is angry that Kanye West went off-book. It’s the show that keeps on giving!

-Usually when actors cover Men’s Health they’re looking shirtless and ripped, but Colin Farrell ain’t got no time for that. Change approved!

-The author of the 007 books said Idris Elba is “a bit too rough” and “too street” to play Bond. Twitter immediately got its panties in a bunch (rightfully so), but his actual quote got a little lost in the headlines. (The author immediately followed up the comment in question by saying “I can think of other black actors who would do it better,” citing Hustle’s Adrian Lester, so it was more of a tone-deaf comment about class, not race.) He also suggested Idris isn’t “suave” enough, which is equally incomprehensible. Don’t worry Idris, you can still star in lots of stuff. Let’s start with my dreams and my wedding and go from there, mm-kay?

Ian McKellan refused to join Taylor Swift’s silly squad after she evicted him from his apartment.

Hilary Clinton‘s emails revealed that she wanted to know when Parks and Rec is on. Hilary Clinton is all of us.

Andrew Garfield is totally unrecognizable here.

-I really liked this Grantland piece on how young stars like Zac Efron, Jesse Eisenberg and Miles Teller should handle their summer flops.

Emmy Rossum is engaged to the guy who created Mr. Robot. I LOVE that guy!

-The internet is hating on Kermit’s new girlfriend.

-I’m leaning into my inner geekgirl and going to my very first fan convention this weekend! (Well, I went once but that was on a press pass so it doesn’t really count.) So is Gillian Anderson going to sing to me? Because YouTube has taught me to expect that. A lot.

-This new promo for Shonda night on ABC is all kinds of cute. I love that they’re really playing up Scandal’s love of wine.

J.K. Rowling wished James Sirius Potter a happy first day at Hogwarts and it sent me down a long wormhole via Pottermore.com. (I got sorted into Ravenclaw, which I’m feeling very conflicted about.)

-NBC scraped plans for a Coach reboot. “It feels dated” seems like the weirdest excuse ever. Like, this is seriously just occurring to them now?!

-I made my TIFF movie picks yesterday, and one of the films I chose was Julianne Moore and Ellen Page‘s Freeheld, which I can’t wait to see. Page’s response to being told that she’s “brave” for playing a gay character makes me want to see it even more.

-I also chose Brooklyn starring Saoirse Ronan because it got such raves at Sundance.  Here’s the first clip.

-I seriously considered this Drew Barrymore/Toni Collette movie, but it seemed a little lightweight for a TIFF pick (says the girl who picked a film based on the fact that it’s from Denmark and features fake moustaches…)

-I also passed on Eddie Redmayne’s The Danish Girl, and this trailer is making be regret it.
