Evan Rachel Wood Opens Up About Marilyn Manson, Jamie Bell

evan-rachel-wood

-This Evan Rachel Wood cover story is a bit more cringe-y than I was expecting from her (she randomly dances on the street? Sure she does), but I like that she told a fashion magazine that being a mother means “I pretty much always have a stain on my shirt.”

-This is a great, great piece from Vulture about why we’re all so fascinated with Ben Affleck’s nanny.

-Rumours that Jennifer Garner has rekindled sexytimes with Michael Vartan are probably bull, but I love them just the same.

-This is a good look at the summer TV season. It’s amazing that HBO crapped the bed, but USA and Lifetime came out as winners. What world is this?!

-Say what you will about Taylor Swift, but her devotion to kids with cancer and their families is still pretty awe-inspiring.  (Even if her “squad” is ridiculous and her latest Vanity Fair cover story made me eyeroll so hard I saw my brain. Seriously, who has 25 BFFs?! Does she think she’s Mindy Lahiri?!)

-In today’s edition of “Hello, You’re Old!” the Six Feet Under finale aired 10 years ago. Who wants to join my cry circle and watch this with me?

-It’s official: Megan Fox had filed for divorce from Brian Austin Green.

-Sadness: Vanessa Hudgens opened up about her father’s battle with stage 4 cancer during an emotional acceptance speech.

Shonda Rhimes is developing a divorce comedy with the Trophy Wife team. How long do you think it’ll be before ABC is officially renamed Shondaland?

-Of course Stephen Amell has turned his WWE appearance at Sunday’s SummerSlam into a charity opportunity. He’s already raised $100K selling exclusive shirts commemorating the event, with proceeds going to Emily’s House, a palliative care children’s hospice in Toronto. Click here to donate.

-Speaking of stars doing awesome things for charities, the casts of Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD are reviving their Dubsmash war.

-Is it weird that I’m optimistic about Andy Samberg hosting the Emmys? Am I drunk(er than usual)?

-A Jake Gyllenhaal and Susan Sarandon romance rumour? Don’t tease me, universe!

-Shhh, Jonathan Franzen. Just shhh.

-Investigators aren’t actually recommending manslaughter charges for Caitlyn Jenner, guys.

Seth Meyers uncovered John Cena‘s embarrassing secret hobby last night.

-Um, did Nina Dobrev leave the Vampire Diaries to do this?!

Jennifer Aniston Shows Off Wedding Ring

-I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually love Jennifer Anistion’s wedding ring. Never would have pegged her to pick a channel setting over a solitaire, but it’s lovely.

-She also discussed keeping the wedding a secret on today’s Good Morning America.

Kelly Clarkson surprised herself by announcing her second pregnancy during a concert last night after she got really emotional.  Mazel!

-Not only did Beyonce land the all-important September cover of Vogue, she did it without having to do an accompanying interview. She stopped doing face-to-face sit-downs sometime before the elevator incident, and it hasn’t affected her popularity at all. As the NYT notes, “She’s been able to reach this level of stardom in which she’s managed — in a way that I really think is unique even among other black women entertainers — hyper-visibility and inaccessibility simultaneously.” Bow down to her.

Ben Affleck’s nanny is keeping the paps interested by giving them gifts. Bow down to her, too.

Josh Duggar has a paid Ashley Madison account because OF COURSE HE DOES. He’s already apologized or whatever.

-It’s no surprise that Jennifer Lawrence is the highest paid actress in the world, but good on Chinese actress Bingbing Fan for landing at #4.

-New albums from Beach House, Destroyer, and Yo La Tengo now streaming online, and there’s also a new Metric track. It’s like Christmas morning!

Gillian Anderson shared a BTS photo from the X Files set featuring Skinner. (And a random Obama photobomb.)

-Did Michael Shannon‘s hilarious port-a-potty story reveal a big Batman vs. Superman spoiler?

Amy Poehler’s stand-in on Parks and Rec might have had the best job on the set.

-The best part of Buzzfeed’s “How well do you remember The WB?” quiz is the old school promo they embed at the beginning, which features EVERY network star “partying” together in a club. I remember the part where David Boreanaz flirts with Shannen Doherty giving me so many squees back in the day. God, if the CW did this today I might pass out.

-I adore the dress that Emma Stone is wearing in her new movie. She’s my pale girl inspiration.

-I couldn’t get through the first Fifty Shades of Grey movie and sure the hell won’t be seeing the sequel, but how in the world is the frontrunner director not a woman?! Jesus, Hollywood.

-Here’s the trailer for That Dog, a short starring Michael Cera, Tim Heidecker, and Natasha Leggero.

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green Call It Quits

-The summer of celebrity splits continues: Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green have decided to separate after 11 years together. BRB, going to switch careers and become a Hollywood divorce lawyer.

-Congrats to Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The super private actor (who only recently revealed he’s married on the Nerdist podcast) is now a dad!

Sandra Bullock is dating a “super hot but also super normal” photographer. Get it, girl.

-Also, I love that her role in Our Brand is in Crisis (which is coming to TIFF) was originally written for George Clooney. “About two and a half years ago I put out feelers saying, ‘I’’m not reading anything I’m excited about. Are there any male roles out there that [the filmmakers] don’t mind switching to female?'”

-I friggin’ love that Ken Marino made the invite list for Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux‘s wedding. An (almost) norm like him being there almost makes it seem like we were there, ya know?

-Also, if you want to peep a super blurry photo of Aniston and Theroux‘s muppet wedding cake, have at ‘er.

Rihanna may need her friends to roll out the Intervention banner again; she’s reportedly FaceTiming with Chris Brown.

-Well, this is despicable: Shannen Doherty is suing her management firm for not paying her medical insurance when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Kelly Clarkson is so good she can even transform weird Tinder profiles into amazing songs for Jimmy Kimmel.

-I’m guessing this blind is about Jennifer Garner, seeing as she’s been trying to get a “View for moms” show off the ground for years.

-Woof. The latest Heroes: Reborn trailer is not giving me a lot of hope for this reboot.

-I just want Adam Pally and Adam Scott to interview each other from now on out.

-I kind of love that Kristen Stewart invited Taylor Lautner to her new movie premiere (’cause lord knows he wasn’t getting the invite on his own).

-Meanwhile, Kristen and Jesse Eisenberg are awkwardly charming in this new Esquire interview, where they (very politely) admit to not getting along with Walton Goggins on set, and describe themselves as “skittish” and “socially paranoid.” I’m seeing the movie tonight and am unusually optimistic about it, given the stars.

-The correction at the end of this NYT article on Rose McGowan might just be my favourite correction of all time.

-The Suicide Squad cast gave each other matching tattoos, which looks as bad as it sounds.

-Wonderful news: Rosie O’Donnell’s teen daughter is safe and back home.

-Despite everyone (including me) complaining that there’s too much good TV, I also really like Vulture’s plea for longer TV seasons. I’ve only watched two shows this summer (UnREAL and Mr Robot), and at 10 episodes each, both felt like they were just gearing up as the seasons were winding down. And for little-watched shows like You’re The Worst, short seasons mean they’re off the air for over a year, which is doing them no favours. In my ideal world, comedies and cable dramas would do 13 episodes, while network dramas would keep it to 16-18.

-Speaking of Mr Robot, Showcase posted the full first episode online in advance of its Sept 4th Canadian debut. Dooooo it!!!

-Also, Mr Robot creator Sam Esmail talked to Buzzfeed about the show’s casual inclusion of a transgender character. I love this so much, especially because the show is obsessed (and actively playing) with themes of identity.

-No one has ever been more into playing a game with Jimmy Fallon than Taraji P. Henson was last night.

-Here are 11 snippets of Ryan Adams covering Taylor Swift‘s 1989. I think I could listen to his version of “All You Had To Do Was Stay” on repeat forever.

-The fact that the Walking Dead prequel is following the beginning of the zombie outbreak but won’t explain why it happened is insane. Reviews about it being slow at the start aren’t helping, either.

Hailee Steinfeld and Brit Marling play protective sisters in the new trailer for The Keeping Room.

-Speaking of trailers, Matt Damon has a surprise for NASA in this excellent new, surprisingly action-packed promo for The Martian.
