The Stars Shine at the MET Gala

-I’m here for all the stars that brought it at the MET Gala last night. Yes, a lot of the looks were crazy but that’s the whole point. This isn’t the Golden Globes; this is an evening to celebrate avant-garde designer Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons and the theme was “Art Of The In-Between” so weird was good.  I especially appreciated the more crazy dresses after reading this Twitter thread about the mechanics of making them. My faves were Rihanna,  Blake Lively(!), and Tracee Ellis Ross. Also props to Celine Dion, who was clearly having the most fun. She pretended her shoe was a phone! God, I love her.

-Also, Sarah Paulson‘s reaction to seeing Madonna was perfectNicki Minaj also got her fangirl on over a bunch of celebs.

-Of course the Kardashian’s led the selfie rule break.

Hailee Steinfeld is not really dating Justin Bieber, in case you were worried.

Susan Sarandon blasted Debra Messing on WWHL for not being very informed? Sit down.

Liam Payne named his new baby Bear Payne. But wasn’t there some big 1D conspiracy theory about a gay bear? Is this a hint? What does it all mean?!?

-Man, it’s been a rough week for diverse, inclusive, female-led dramas. First Sweet/Vicious was cancelled, and now Pitch has been pitched.

-Yay! The writers strike has been averted.

-I kept waiting for Drew Barrymore to say something dumb about wine, but she acquits herself quite well.

-A tearful Jimmy Kimmel detailed his newborn son’s open heart surgery  during last night’s monologue and also slammed Trump’s health care plan, saying “No parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child’s life.”

-Jesus Christ. Apparently Johnny Depp no longer memorizes his lines, he has someone feed them to him via earpiece. Seriously, what’s it going to take for everyone to stop giving that guy a pass?

J.K. Rowling apologized for killing Snape. Uh, why? He stalked a woman who had no interest in him for years and tormented her child because it looked like the guy he lost her to.  I’m glad he got a redemption arc, but that character was trash.

The Big Sick trailer is here! This was Kumail Nanjiani‘s surprise hit of Sundance and I can’t wait to see it.

Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley Got Married

-Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley is a married man. He had a lowkey ceremony at a Brooklyn courthouse with his new wife, who happens to be the sister of Girls star Jemima Kirke.  (I’ll always have a soft spot for Dan… and for this scene).

Nicki Minaj responded to Remy Ma‘s diss track. I feel so out of the loop when it comes to this beef.

-People have been saying they can’t find the Moonlight acceptance speech amid all the footage of the envelope snafu, so here it is. Meanwhile, Barry Jenkins revealed what his Best Picture speech would have been if the moment weren’t so messed up.

-I like that the La La Land producer is downplaying his role in the whole mess.  Yesterday’s stories about how he’s some kind of hero were a little too eye-rolly.

-Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel explained how Matt Damon and Denzel Washington helped him realize what was happening.

Justin Timberlake really used the Oscars to cement his reputation as a garbage person.

Meryl Streep‘s Oscar dress actually included pants. Suck it, Karl!

-What the hell did Diane Kruger wear to an afterparty? Did she always dress like this and we were just blinded by Joshua Jackson’s beauty?

-Speaking of afterparties, look how proud Jennifer Aniston is of Justin Theroux. We get it, Jen. We all saw the sweatpants scene.

-This got lost in all the Oscar shuffle, but Katherine Heigl‘s new show Doubt was cancelled after just two episodes.

-FX is already renewing Ryan Murphy‘s new show Feud for a second season on Charles & Diana. No word on casting yet, but the internet already has opinions.

-The last sitcom cast to demand big bucks is Modern Family’s, and it could end the show.

-I’m so glad The Office’s Jenna Fischer has landed a new TV role. I miss her face.

Ian McShane told Game of Thrones fans to “get out more” and “get a f*cking life.” So I guess he sucks.

-Now you can work out like Gwyneth Paltrow at her $900/month club and eat at her cafe next door.

-I don’t watch Supergirl all the time but I’ve enjoyed this season whenever I’ve caught an ep. But yes, the show does have a Mon-El problem.

-Did you read Herman Koch’s The Dinner a few years ago? Lara Linney, Richard Gere, Steve Coogan and Rebecca Hall star in the upcoming adaptation.

Jimmy Kimmel Channels Marcia Clark for THR

jimmy-kimmel-emmys

Jimmy Kimmel poses as as Marcia Clark, Jon Snow and Mr. Robot for THR’s new Emmy cover story. The interview is really good, with him talking about surviving ABC even though “it became a very female network. And suddenly my antics were out of place,” his weird ‘no eating two days a week’ diet, and his foodie travel planning.

Kristen Bell introduces Pinksourcing, where women are a bargain at the workplace since you only have to pay them 77 cents on the dollar!

-Kim Kardashian took 1,500 selfies a day on her Mexico vacation. I don’t think she knows what the word “vacation” means.

Britney Spears got bored so she decided to see if she could still do mid-air splits. Hasn’t she heard of Netflix binges?

-Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner is a novelist now.

Sofia Vergara is the highest-paid actress on TV. Now think about the work Keri Russell, Tatiana Maslany, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Constance Wu, Sarah Paulson, Aya Cash, Voila Davis, Maura Tierney and Carrie Coon did this year and try not to cry.

-Speaking of actresses doing wonderful work on the small screen, I love this article on how Jane The Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez has the trickiest job on TV.

-Meanwhile in TV news, here’s a good look at how each of the 5 networks are trying to win this year. (I just realized that I’m not watching one single returning show on NBC, Fox, ABC or CBS. Weird.) I’m also so curious to see how Supergirl fares on the CW. I think it’ll be its number one show, but their hopes that it’ll pull in half of its CBS audience seem crazy optimistic to me.

Lance Bass is trying to convince us that Chris Kirkpatrick was the member of ‘N Sync who slept with the most people. Cute.

Renée Zellweger wrestled Jimmy Fallon last night and won.

Kid Cudi went off on Twitter today, saying (among other things) that Kanye and Drake don’t give a f*ck about him.

-Adorable though probably regrettable: GoT costars Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner got matching tattoos.

Rebecca Hall confirmed that her Iron Man 3 role was greatly reduced.

-This is a great read on how Gabrielle Union is doing Nate Parker’s job . “The responsibility for serious discussions about rape has instead fallen on another victim.”

-The new Star Trek series for CBS has been delayed until May, while the Good Wife spinoff has been moved up.

-THR’s oral history of South Park includes an interesting bit about Isaac Hayes quitting. Matt Stone says it was because of the Scientology episode, but Hayes’ son seems to imply it was the Scientologists in his father’s life that made the call after he suffered a stroke. “He was in no position to resign under his own knowledge. At the time, everybody around my father was involved in Scientology — his assistants, the core group of people. So someone quit South Park on Isaac Hayes’ behalf. We don’t know who.”

-Netflix, which pretty much doesn’t cancel anything, say it will end Bloodline.

-The Doctor Strange movie added “an Asian manservant” character to balance Tilda Swinton playing an Asian guru. Not helping, guys.

-A French TV host mocked Jonah Hill’s sex life — after he mocked hers first. I think I love her. (He reportedly canceled all of his French press for the upcoming movie after that interview, because of course he did.)

-Here’s the new trailer for the political thriller Miss Sloane, starring  Jessica Chastain.
