Sandra Bullock and Her Ocean’s 8 Crew Kick Off Promo Blitz

sandra-bullock-instyle

-The best part about Ocean’s 8 is that we get the cast doing lots of press, including Sandra Bullock, who is usually pretty private. In her new In Style cover story, she talks about getting Ocean’s advice from George Clooney, laughing at Sarah Paulson try to sing like Rihanna on the set, and why she wants to ban the term “adopted children”: “Let’s all just refer to these kids as ‘our kids.’ Don’t say, ‘my adopted child.’ No one calls their kid their ‘IVF child’ or their ‘Oh, shit, I went to a bar and got knocked up child.’ Let’s just say, ‘our children.'”

-We also get a Variety cover with Cate Blanchett, who talks about inclusion riders, Woody Allen, and fighting for pay equity. She also seems to suggest Harvey Weinstein harassed her, too.

-In other Ocean’s 8 covers, Mindy Kaling looks stunning on Elle India.

Elsa Pataky says she doesn’t know how she and Chris Hemsworthsurvived as a couple‘ after he became famous. I don’t know how anyone famous does.

Ellen DeGeneres apologized to Jenna Dewan for introducing her as ‘Tatum’ on her show.

-The Good Fight has been renewed for a third season. Now that Canada has CBS All Access, I’m wondering how long we’ll get to have that show on a regular TV network before they move it to the app here. With the exception of a very silly subplot about microsdosing, this current season has been incredible. I’m still not subscribing to yet another service for it, though.

-This tweet from Neflix about Lost In Space’s fandom made me LOL.

Katie Couric defended Matt Lauer on Wendy Williams, saying “a lot of stuff gets misreported and blown out of proportion.” When asked about the button on his desk, she said “I don’t know what was happening, but a lot of NBC executives had those buttons that opened and closed doors. It was really just a privacy thing.”

-Meanwhile, female NBC staffers reportedly felt pressured to sign letter defending Tom Brokaw. A third woman has accused him of sexual misconduct.

-Apple gave a 10-episode series order to Are You Sleeping, a drama about a true crime podcast that stars Octavia Spencer and is produced by Reese Witherspoon.

Lauryn Hill doesn’t seem super happy that Drake sampled her on “Nice for What.”

-It looks like the core cast of Suits  (Gabriel Macht, Patrick Adams, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres) made the cut when it came to royal wedding invitations, as well as Victoria and David Beckham, Ben and Jessica Mulroney, Priyanka Chopra and Serena Williams.

Brad Pitt‘s depressing weatherman returned to The Jim Jefferies Show.

-It sounds like the next season of Arrested Development will drop very soon.

-I’m having a really weird, emotional day because this video of Ariana Grande surprising fans with Jimmy Fallon made me tear up.  A producer later tweeted that even though they had enough footage, she insisted that all the fans who came got a surprise, so they kept filming for another 45 minutes.

-I thought the latest season of UnREAL was way better than the last one, but still not good enough to keep me tuning in. But that was before I realized that the next season is making Rachel the suitress! I’m so back!

The Ocean’s 8 Trailer Is Everything!

-It’s here! The Ocean’s 8 trailer starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter and Rihanna.  God, I love so much about this! Richard Armitage is clearly some sort of love interest but doesn’t even get a line in the trailer. It’s the perfect use of Hathaway. The heist they’re planning is at the freakin’ MET Ball!

-Yikes. Selena Gomez‘s mother was hospitalized after reportedly having a “heated conversation” with her daughter about Justin Bieber. That’s going to make for an awkward holiday season..

Issa Rae is working on not one, but two shows and they both sound amazing.

-Silicon Valley actor T.J. Miller has been accused of brutal sexual assault. The accuser, speaking publicly for the first time, says it happened in college. The accusations were addressed by a student court at George Washington University at the time and Miller has told friends over the years that he was wrongfully accused. In the Daily Beast’s deeply researched report, five GW students at the time corroborated details of her story.

Miller has denied the allegations, saying “Sadly she is now using the current climate to bandwagon and launch these false accusations again.”

-Not surprisingly, everyone today is remembering that time Miller hosted the Crunchies and repeatedly called Gabi Holzwarth a bitch. And more stories about him being a not-great guy are coming forward.  He was already cancelled by many people because of a series of unfortunate interviews earlier this summer.

-I love that #damonsplaining is becoming a thing. Can we make it trend??

-I’m also enormously satisfied that Damon is getting called out as being “completely forgettable” in the reviews for his new movie.

-How in the world is Chris Brown still landing leading movie roles in 2017? Followup question: how did his duet with R Kelly top the charts in 2017?

-Wait, Terry Crews illustrated the cover of Ad Age’s Creativity 50 issue? Is there anything this man can’t do?!? (Besides getting white Hollywood to support him?)

-The Pitch Perfect reviews are in and they…aren’t good. THR calls it “soulless.”  At least EW thinks it’s charming, so there’s that!

Jimmy Fallon, Anna Kendrick, Darlene Love & The Roots sang “Christmas” with kids instruments.

Armie Hammer on quitting Twitter. “It’s a toxic environment. No one goes on the internet to say anything nice.” Ok.

-Wait, there’s a Sicario 2Josh Brolin, Benicio Del Toro, and Matthew Modine star in the new trailer.

Cate Blanchett Stands Up for Women, Plays Chess with Chris Hemsworth

Cate Blanchett and Chris Hemsworth look like a romcom come to life in the pages of Vogue

-Meanwhile, Cate slays in this speech: “Just because we want to look sexy doesn’t mean we want to fuck you.”

-My friend Russ wrote a great piece on how Justin Timberlake has to publicly apologize to Janet Jackson. It’s long overdue.

-Do you think Kristen Stewart would let me live with her? Because her new NYC loft is beautiful.

-Onetime Weinstein assistant Zelda Perkins has become the first of the producer’s former staffers to break her NDA in an explosive interview with the Financial Times. She says he exposed himself to her, asked for massages, requested she watch him bathe, and repeatedly tried to pull him into bed with her. She claims she quit at 24 when he sexually assaulted a female colleague during the 1998 Venice Film Festival. She left the company with a £250,000 settlement after signing an N.D.A. (which she was not allowed to keep a copy of) following 12 hours of questioning by Weinstein’s lawyers that ended at 5 a.m.

-Super lawyer Gloria Allred held a press conference this afternoon, in which a former Weinstein production assistant told a graphic story about her alleged assault. I can’t imagine him escaping criminal charges at this point…

-I’m really glad that people in Hollywood are speaking out on the rampant sexual harassment, but I’ve gotta say…I kind of don’t need to hear any more from Matt Damon. (Unless he changes his tune and says something along the lines of “I didn’t want to rock the boat of my newfound fame” and/or “I should have realized that if he did it to Gwyneth, he was doing it to others” and/or “Here are the names of others who should be called out.”)

-Since the James Toback story was published on Sunday, 193 additional women have contacted the L.A. Times to talk about the director.

Julianne Moore says James Toback approached her twice in the 1980s.

-Speaking of directors with a history of allegations, the Daily Beast did a deep dive into tales of David O. Russell’s groping and on-set abuse.

-Meanwhile, photographer Terry Richardson has reportedly been banned from top magazines amid sexual harassment allegations.

-Hollywood’s creep cleanout continues. Amazon’s Joe Lewis, head of comedy and drama development, is leaving the company amid conflict of interest allegations that he cast his girlfriend, Jane the Virgin actress Yara Martinez, in the streaming service’s scripted drama The Tick.

-The actress/fixer who set up Sean Penn‘s meeting with druglord El Chapo  is telling stories — much to Penn’s chagrin.

George Clooney remembers how his dad would sit with him when he worked at a liquor store to prevent the place from being robbed.

Meghan Markle‘s half-sister is writing a memoir called The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister. Between this and her ex-husband, she has a lot of garbage people in her life trying to make a buck off her.

RIP Robert Guillaume. I loved this remembrance of him as an amazing leader on Sports Night. This speech still gives me chills.

-Wait, Fringe’s Anna Torv is in Mindhunter? Why aren’t I watching this thing?!?

Helen Mirren is haunted in the first trailer for Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built.
