Blake Lively Promotes A Simple Favor In The Weirdest Way Possible

-I enjoyed A Simple Favor way more than I thought I would despite the movie’s incessant plugging of Ryan Reynolds‘ gin brand (Paul Feig knows how to use Anne Kendrick‘s quirkiness and comic timing better than anyone else), but what the hell is this promo image that Blake Lively just tweeted?! The movie is doing well. They don’t need to do this.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk are getting married this weekend, and tonight’s rehearsal dinner is reportedly being hosted by Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld. Apparently the actual wedding will take place at her Hamptons home and will have only 20 guests.

-Pretty Little Liars’ star Ashley Benson is dating Cara Delevingne? Wut?

Jodie Whittaker explaining that her hometown is nicknamed “shat” in front of Ryan Gosling is good content. (I love her so much. When she does that proud little hair flip after Bradley Cooper asks if her husband is from Tucson? Amazing.)

Malia Obama appears in a music video for a band comprised of her fellow Harvard students, and it looks like she’s living her best life.

Riley Keough tweeted that she wanted to be cast in Riverdale — and now she is! I gave up on that show halfway through the first season, but this is a really good get for the CW.

-Tom Hardy being interviewed by kids is a whole lotta cute.

Bill Murray defended Dustin Hoffman against sexual harassment claims, calling him a “flirt.”  THIS IS NOT THE WEEK, BILL!

-For the first time in network TV history, shows with actors of color in lead roles outnumber shows with predominantly white casts. Buzzfeed talked to all of the heads of the networks about how this year the broadcasters may FINALLY have turned the corner on diversity.

-Speaking of great long reads, this feature on Robyn is excellent.

-Just ONE DAY after its first trailer dropped, Fox has pushed Dark Phoenix from Feb 14 to June 7. This is the film’s second major delay, though there’s speculation they may be planning a crossover with the MCU.

Bradley Cooper has denied reports that he’s going to take over from James Gunn as the director of the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

-Someone made a 10-minute loop of Lady Gaga belting out the best part of “Shallow” from A Star is Born, and wow I really needed that today.

-A Maroon 5 fan was arrested after storming the stage and confronting Adam Levine during last night’s Toronto gig. (It’s always interesting to see moments like this when singers are shocked into inaction but the song just keeps on going. That’s quite the backing vocal he’s got, there.)

Cardi B is reinventing herself as a fashion icon and it’s kinda working for me…

-Here’s the first trailer for Showtime’s Wall Street comedy Black Monday about the 1987 stock market crash starring Don Cheadle, Andrew Rannells and Regina Hall.

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly reunite in the Holmes & Watson trailer.

Bradley Cooper, The Reluctant Superstar

Taffy Brodesser-Akner once again proves she is one of the best celebrity feature writers working today with her NYT profile on Bradley Cooper. He is CLEARLY not into it, and she explains to him why she needs him to open up, and then the article offers some genuine insight into not just his creative process, but also hers.

-Meanwhile, the song from the A Star Is Born trailer (you know, THE song with the crazy goosebump-inducing, Gaga-wailing chorus), dropped today.

Busy Philipps, Sarah Hyland and Cara Delevingne shared their devastating #WhyIDidntReport stories today.

-This first look at Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers is the soothing balm the world needed today.

-Speaking of things we could all use after today’s news cycle, The Good Place is back tonight! NBC released the first four eps to critics and the reviews are pretty forking glowing. (Here’s a refresher if you don’t remember how last season ended.)

-The week of surprise baby news continues! Paul Dano and Zoe Kazan reportedly welcomed their first child in August.

Robert Pattinson and Mia Goth are currently promoting a movie together. Their ex-significant others (FKA twigs and Shia LaBeouf) are now dating. This isn’t awkward at all.

George Clooney looks really different in this photo. I don’t like it.

-Single Parents (which I really liked) and A Million Little Things (which I really didn’t) premiered to so-so ratings.

Kanye West is reportedly preparing to drop his third(!) full-length album of the year this weekend.

Awkwafina and Seth Meyers will host SNL next month.

Jameela Jamil explained her issues with the body positivity movement which is great — except she may have lifted her quotes from someone she was DMing with. (She’s since credited them.)

-In a new interview, Leah Remini talks about her ongoing fight against Scientology and adds, “I keep wondering – why haven’t Katie Holmes or Nicole Kidman spoken out? I assume they were forced to sign prohibitive documents…Trust me, Katie’s not allowed to have a meal with me, and we used to be close friends. She could lose custody of Suri. It’s quite sick, really.”

-Here’s the Dark Phoenix trailer starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, and Sophie Turner. This feels like the type of movie that might be OK if you just consider it divorced from the rest of the X-Men films.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Daughter Apple Steps Into the Spotlight

-Whoa. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin‘s daughter Apple is a stunner. I wonder if this post was her unofficial public debut? GP has always been very resistant to post her kids’ faces.

-Meanwhile, Dakota Johnson refuses to discuss her relationship with Chris Martin in a new interview but adds “but I’m very happy.”

-That collective gasp you just heard came from royal watchers when Meghan Markle dared to close her own car door.

Cardi B and Nicki Minaj‘s drama is far from over. The latest development? A trending hashtag called #NickiStoppedMyBag.

-Also, Taraji P. Henson does a solid Cardi B impression.

-This interview with TV writer Alan Yang is great — but the best part is when he talks about how insane Secret Santa got on the Parks and Recreation set.

-Speaking of Parks and Rec alums, Rashida Jones has reportedly welcomed a baby boy with Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig. I didn’t even know they were dating, let alone expecting.

-Today is all about undercover pregnancies! Rachel Weisz gave birth to her and Daniel Craig‘s first child.

Mindy Kaling is teasing her diverse remake of Four Weddings and a Funeral, which she just started casting: “Everyone is smoking hot, and the stories are juicy.”

Rihanna can’t catch a break. Her mansion has been broken into for the second time this year.

-You know what’s nuts about this photo of JLo’s muscles? She’s keeping her hand soft, which means she’s not even hard flexing! I’m so jealous!

-Comedian Ted Alexandro went to Louis C.K.’s old stomping grounds and tore him up.

-I really liked this appreciation of Keira Knightley‘s period pieces: “In all of Keira Knightley’s historical films, she is at the center. She is not relegated to the role of love interest; men are.”

-I love that Leighton Meester‘s comedy skills are highlighted in every review I’ve read for Single Parents (aka the only new sitcom I have any interest in checking out).

-What the heck is Blake Lively wearing here? (Oops, I forgot that we’re not supposed to ask her about that. Just pretend you didn’t see it!)

-Interesting to see critics pushing back at Jonah Hill’s directorial debut Mid90s. I haven’t seen it but it was met with rapt applause by male critics at TIFFs — but female critics seemed less impressed.

Steve Carell suddenly looks like a thirst trap and everyone’s confused.

-Survivor is now open to contestants from Canada, in case any of you are interested and/or crazy.

-The only things I know about these characters are from silly CW superhero shows, but I’m very here for Jurnee Smollett-Bell to play Black Canary and and Mary Elizabeth Winstead to play The Huntress in the Birds of Prey movie.

-The Tea with the Dames trailer is hella cute.

-Oh wow, the trailer for Creed 2 looks so, so good!
