Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Are New Parents

-Congrats to Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, who’ve welcomed a baby girl via surrogate.

–Adele posted a tearful video about cancelling her Vegas residency the day before she was set to start. “We’ve tried absolutely everything we that can to pull it together in time, and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID… half my team and half my crew are down with COVID they still are and it’s been impossible to finish the show.” It’s a heartbreaking video but god, I hope she figures out a way to make it up to the fans who’d already travelled to Vegas for this weekend’s show. She’s clearly there already so I wonder if she could host an event for any ticket holder who can prove they booked their hotel before she made the announcement or something?

-Another rough day in celebrity deaths. Singer Meat Loaf has died at aged 74, while comedian Louie Anderson has died at 68 following a battle with cancer.

-Covid keeps screwing up Tom Cruise‘s plans. Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 have both been delayed to 2023 and 2024, respectively.

–Jennifer Coolidge told Jimmy Fallon that Ariana Grande doing an impression of her on his show helped her career. The actress, who starred in Grande’s “Thank U Next” music video, shared, “You should know, it was sort of the beginning of a lot of cool things that happened for me. I was going through a dead zone, not much was going on. Then Ariana did this imitation on your show and you encouraged her. And then this ball got rolling.”

-Meanwhile, she’s returning to The White Lotus for season two, thank god.

-Supernatural fans, rejoice: a cast-heavy rewatch podcast series is coming.

–Cynthia Nixon responded to Chris Noth’s removal from the finale of HBO Max’s And Just Like That following allegations of sexual assault. “I think we were very lucky that those changes were able to be made. And I think we are very proud of our show.”

-Speaking of And Just Like That, Sarita Choudhury (who plays Carrie’s real estate agent Seema) says she was “shocked” by the flak the show got.

–Whoopi Goldberg is back in the trailer for Star Trek: Picard’s second season.

–Bill Paxton’s family can seek punitive damages against Cedars-Sinai in a wrongful death suit. The late actor’s family claims the hospital and his doctor covered up their negligence by not performing an autopsy and they didn’t learn one hadn’t been done until after the actor had been cremated.

-Um, should I be watching Peacemaker? ‘Cause this clip of Adrian Chase/Vigilante is amazing (and not cause it stars the cute guy from Bridgerton and UnREAL).

-Sony has yet to secure a date for Spider-Man: No Way Home in China, but the country will allow Woody Allen’s recent romcom a release.

–Will Forte returns to his SNL roots in the promos for this weekend’s show.

–Jesse Eisenberg’s directorial debut, When You Finish Saving the World starring Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard, is getting good reviews out of Sundance.

-Apple TV’s “Everyone but Jon Hamm” commercial is cute.

–Sam Claflin plays a stodgy author whose book becomes a bestseller in Mexico when the translator (Verónica Echegui) rewrites it in Amazon’s Book of Love, which debuts Feb 4.

–Bruce Willis, Luke Wilson and Devon Sawa star in the trailer for Gasoline Alley.

-In their THR cover story, Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem revealed that they both tried to get out of Being the Ricardos a month before they were scheduled to start shooting.

-Oof, Ben Affleck is getting roasted for all the headlines pulling his quote about how his drinking came from feeling “trapped” in his marriage to Jennifer Garner. It was indeed some shitty, bullshit projecting, but he did say lots of nice things about her in that interview, too.

-Meanwhile, Affleck had a fantastic answer when asked why he thinks The Last Duel flopped at the box office. “It wasn’t one of those films that you say, ‘Oh boy, I wish my movie had worked.’ Instead, this is more due to a seismic shift that I’m seeing, and I’m having this conversation with every single person I know…One of the fundamental ways it’s changing is that the people who want to see complicated, adult, non-IP dramas are the same people who are saying to themselves, ‘You know what? I don’t need to go out to a movie theater because I’d like to pause it, go to the bathroom, finish it tomorrow.’ It’s that, along with the fact that you can watch with good quality at home.”

–Keanu Reeves continues to age like a fine wine.

–Will Forte and Seth Meyers went day drinking and things got really messy, really fast. (How far they take the “if you make me break, I will do a shot” bit is insane. “I cheated on my wife there!”)

–Alan Ruck is the latest Succession costar to defend Jeremy Strong‘s New Yorker profile: “Well, this is what I think. I think The New Yorker came to Jeremy. They said, “We want to do a piece about you because you’re a wonderful actor and you have this eccentric way of preparing. We think that’s a good story. You want to do it?” And he said, “Yeah,” and he said, “Yes, I do do all those things. I do whatever it takes to bring a character to life”…That’s what he believes he needs to do to get himself into his zone so he can deliver his best work. And does that make him crazy? No. Does that make him a better actor? Well, he thinks it does, but there’s a lot of other actors who are just as good who don’t do that…So I didn’t think that piece was a hit piece. Some people said, “Oh, it was an attack on Jeremy.” I didn’t think that at all. I mean, they laid out these facts. So, this is what this guy does and this is how he prepares, and this is what he’s like on set.”

-Meanwhile, I love this thread on Shiv’s outfits this season. Ever since she left politics and tried to join the corporate world, everything she wears is just a smidge ill-fitting.

-Pitch Perfect’s Adam Devine married Chloe Bridges in Cabo and Vogue has the photos (that kissing one is shockingly awkward). Rebel Wilson and Devine’s Workaholics co-stars Blake Anderson and Anders Holm attended.

-The Good Place’s Manny Jacinto is flaunting it in Flaunt Magazine.

-I’m bummed that Guillermo del Toro’s latest Oscar contender Nightmare Alley with Cate Blanchett and Bradley Cooper isn’t getting better reviews.

-If you’re in any way interested in superhero movies, avoid YouTube’s homepage today because there’s a video that very clearly spoils Spider-Man: No Way Home.

–The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent trailer stars Nicolas Cage as himself and Pedro Pascal as a wealthy fan.

Tom Holland and Zendaya’s Height Difference

–Tom Holland and Zendaya continue to be adorable together on the Spider-Man promo tour. They appeared together on the Graham Norton Show and talked about the difficulty of joint stunts due to their height difference.

-Meanwhile, Tom Holland says he’ll play Fred Astaire in a film, which sounds like perfect casting.

-After receiving two nominations for the 2022 Grammy Awards, Drake has withdrawn his nominations, and now are not visible on his artist page on the Grammys’ website. No one is really sure why, but he spoke out about The Weeknd’s snub last year.

-NY magazine’s profile on Succession star Jeremy Strong is an interesting read — mostly because everyone who’s quoted sounds like they don’t like him very much, which is unusual in a big profile like this. Usually you get some non-critical words from costars, even if it’s just about their talent or dedication if they don’t want to get into their personality. But it sounds like everyone thinks he’s a miserable presence on and off set. Is that why he’s so good in this role — because he’s just playing a version of himself?

-Meanwhile, I can’t quite believe that the ending of last night’s Succession is to believed, but if that turns out to be true, it’s gonna be a WILD finale this weekend.

-In his new GQ profile, Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus talks about accidentally revealing his cancer diagnosis on social media, renewing his faith, healing his old friendships, and being reminded of what makes life worth living.

–George Clooney says he once turned down $35 million for one day’s work on an airline ad over because of its country’s “questionable” practices.

–Charlie Cox, who played Daredevil on Marvel’s Netflix show, might transition over to the film universe, according to Kevin Feige.

–Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Three 6 Mafia got into a brawl onstage at Verzuz.

–Jennifer Lawrence looked amazing during a rare red carpet appearance.

-In a new Vulture essay, Colton Haynes says that before he came to Hollywood, he was confidently queer, but years of mixed messages in the industry changed that.

–Grimes wrote a breakup song about Elon Musk.

-For Vanity Fair, Mo Ryan talked at length with Jeff Garlin about his HR investigations on The Goldbergs, and power imbalances. It’s rare to have a celeb be confronted with these types of questions and not walk away (though there were times he clearly wanted to), but I don’t love how often he dismissed the allegations as “my silliness” or “my process.”

-This is a very good piece questioning why Hollywood is still hiring raging anti-Semite Mel Gibson?

–Chris Noth weighed in on Kim Cattrall’s rumoured feud with Sarah Jessica Parker — and it sounds like he’s on Team Parker. “I do know that I’m very close with SJ and [Cattrall’s] descriptions of her don’t even come close. I liked her, I thought she was marvelous in the show and some people move on for their own reasons. I don’t know what hers were. I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable…I just don’t like to see anyone talking down about SJ because she’s a target and people can be nasty. I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that.”

-Its xmas pop song time: Ed Sheeran and Elton John released a new festive track and video, while John Legend unveiled his new holiday single.
