Succession Is Coming Back This Fall

-It’s Logan v. Kendall in the new Succession season 3 teaser. I cannot wait!

-I’m underwhelmed by Gwen Stefani’s Vera Want dress. Her original pink dress was just too high a bar to clear. At least she went non-traditional for the reception. The wedding ceremony was officiated by Carson Daly.

Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde are PDAing their way through Italy. Good for them.

-Every E. Alex Jung is a must-read. But this one on Jennifer Coolridge? Its a must-read-right-now. It’s filled with tidbits like this: “I always said I was Muffin Hemingway [at the clubs] if I couldn’t get in. One time I got thrown out of a club because I was behaving badly, and they said, ‘Don’t ever come back here, Muffin!'”

-Congrats to Being Human and Hawaii 5-0 star Meghan Rath, who just revealed her pregnancy.

-The first day of Cannes gave us Jodie Foster speaking French, Pedro Almodovar as a surprise guest, jury president Spike Lee in a hot pink suitMarion Cotillard in bike shorts, Adam Driver getting Oscar buzz, and Helen Mirren dancing on the red carpet.

Elizabeth Hurley’s son Damian says he’s “Grateful for my beautiful family, today and every day” — despite being cut of out his late father’s $330m will.

-I just finished Cruel Summer a few days ago, which was a fun, twisty little show. The second season will move ahead without creator Bert V. Royal. According to the Hollywood Reporter, he quit his Freeform series after clashing with an exec last summer just after the pilot finished shooting.

-This is a very well-written review of the Gossip Girl reboot, which says the show wants to start a revolution but has no idea how. I also like this one, which reminds us it’s harder than it looks to make really good trash.

Seth Rogen wins Twitter this week with this tweet: “Once I was in the spa in a hotel in Vegas getting a massage. When I finished I turned over and to my shock Paul Rudd was massaging me. He saw me go in and convinced the masseuse to let him take over, thinking I’d notice immediately. I didn’t, and Paul did the entire rest of it.”

-This seems to be implying that Jennifer Lawrence is pregnant? I kind of thought she already was, but that was me mixing her up with her BFF Emma Stone.

Larry Rudolph has stepped down as the Britney Spears‘ manager after 25 years. “It has been over 2 1/2 years since Britney and I last communicated, at which time she informed me she wanted to take an indefinite work hiatus. Earlier today, I became aware that Britney had been voicing her intention to officially retire.”

-Her long-time attorney (who was chosen for her), Sam Ingham, is also stepping down.

-I don’t watch Top Chef but by most accounts this season was one of its best, so it sucks that the winner is now surrounding by controversy.

Val Kilmer made a documentary about what it’s like to be Val Kilmer.

Kelly Clarkson Is Ready To Tackle Daytime

kelly clarkson daytime talk show

-Ahead of her syndicated talk show (premiering Sept. 9), Kelly Clarkson covers People and talks about prioritizing her family (“When we were doing the schedule for the show, I was like, ‘I have to drop my kids off at school.’ And I’m always the one who puts them to bed”), impressing her kids (“Our 3-year-old doesn’t get it but the 5-year-old, she’s very clever. She’s already asked that I have Chris Martin on to sing ‘Yellow.’ It’s her favorite song”) and recounts bursting a cyst on her ovary while filming live finales of The Voice — just one week after suffering through a burst appendix while hosting the Billboard Music Awards (“Blake [Shelton] was talking to me and all of the sudden, everything he said just went away and I had to grab his arm and I was like, ‘Something is wrong.’ That was more painful than the appendicitis. It was literally a week after my surgery so I was freaking out!”).

-Holy shit, I want Hugh Grant to ghostwrite all of my insults from now on. This is savage!

-This is a pretty terrible report about how a lot of Rihanna fans have unknowingly signed up for a $50/month VIP membership for her Savage x Fenty lingerie line — and they can only cancel over the phone.

Martha Stewart backhand complimenting Gwyneth Paltrow is a thing of beauty.

-This interview with Joel Schumacher is so very, very juicy that the bit about a post-Pretty Woman Julia Roberts crying in his arms in the backseat of a car and saying “I never needed to be this famous” isn’t even the best anecdote! When asked about shooting Batman Forever he said: “Tommy Lee Jones is, and I say this with great respect, a scene stealer. Well, you can’t steal the scene from Jim Carrey. It’s impossible. And, I think it irked Tommy. He wasn’t kind to Jim. He did not act towards Jim the way an Oscar winner with a star on Hollywood Boulevard, being the oldest member of the cast, and having such a distinguished career and the accolades to go with it, should have acted towards Jim.” He also called Val Kilmer “psychotic.” “I do know Marlon Brando threw Val’s cellphone in the bushes [on the set of The Island of Dr. Moreau] and said, ‘Young man, don’t confuse your ego with the size of your salary, ever.’ Here’s the difference between Val Kilmer and Tommy Lee Jones. I don’t care what state Tommy is in emotionally, when that camera rolls, there is no bad take. Val is a different story.”

-I am very here for Lauren Graham‘s return to TV.

Netflix just nabbed a show about female journalists and politics from super producer Greg Berlanti and The Vampire Diaries creator Julie Plec, inspired by NYT writer Amy Chozick’s best-selling memoir about being on the campaign trail with Hilary Clinton.

-The third season of 13 Reasons Why is getting trashed by critics.

-This is a very good look at fandom-led campaigns, specifically the one created to save The OA.

This video of Sophie Turner meeting Queer Eye’s Jonathan (who used to host Gay of Thrones) is a delight.

Victoria Beckham posted a photo of David dressed up like Elton John and it’s really what I needed to get me through this never-ending week.

Lana Condor and Noah Centineo are vacationing together. Cool cool cool.

-I HATE elevators but if I had gotten stuck for hours with Jason Momoa, I might get over it.

-This is tragic: Jessi Combs of Mythbusters died in a “horrific accident” in Oregon while attempting to break her own land-speed record. She was 36 years old.

-Just before its debut at Venice and Toronto, the final Joker trailer has arrived.

George Clooney on Weinstein: “I Want to Know Who Knew”

-Hmmm. George Clooney seems to be putting the onus on the media for not exposing the Harvey Weinstein scandal, not on the closed and protective Hollywood system. He told the Today Show, “Whoever had that story and didn’t write it should be held responsible. I want to know what kind of ad dollars were spent from the Weinstein Company and from Miramax. Because we should’ve known this.”

-Another of Gloria Allred’s clients held a press conference to accuse Weinstein of sexual assault and rape.

Anna Faris is the latest actress to share a story about being sexually harassed by a male director.

-A former actress broke her confidentiality agreement to claim that Val Kilmer punched her in the face and shoved her to the ground her during Doors audition.

-Speaking of powerful men who appear to be abusing their position, Rolling Stone published a horrifying new account of a woman who dated R Kelly.

-Um, the star of Outlander and the writers of Outlander should probably not be arguing about creative differences regarding the show on Twitter.

-Despite a restraining order, Tyrese admits to flying a banner over his 10-year-old daughter’s school that says “No matter what, daddy loves you Shayla.”  Yeah, that’s not going to mess her up at all.

-If someone gave me a $10 million ring, I’d probably keep wearing it too.

-Another Halloween, another ridiculous costume for Colton Haynes. This has basically turned into his annual excuse to wear ridiculous fake boobs. At least he stopped doing blackface…

-I’ll give it to Blake Lively — her birthday post to Ryan Reynolds was pretty great.

Emma Stone is reportedly dating an SNL director. He’s the third staffer to be linked to an A-lister recently. That job is better than Tinder!

-This is a bullshit tweet from Vulture. I love Carrie Coon but I’d bet more people watched Fringe than The Leftovers and Fargo combined.

Bobby Flay reportedly quit Iron Chef in the most obnoxious way possible.

-I wrote a piece about this fall TV season’s winners and losers.

-I stopped watching The Walking Dead because, well, it’s terrible, but I’ll still read PTV’s epic recap of the premiere because it’s in old-school Television Without Pity style! God, I miss that site.

Liam Neeson is through playing games in the new trailer for The Commuter.

Will Smith and Joel Edgerton star in Netflix’s original movie Bright. This thing looks beyond terrible.
