Kim Kardashian Talks About Kanye West’s “Scary” Covid Case

–Kim Kardashian covers the first issue of Grazia USA and reveals that Kanye West contracted covid around the time Tom Hanks had it. “Kanye had it way at the beginning, when nobody really knew what was going on. It was so scary and unknown. I had my four babies and no one else in the house to help. I had to go and change his sheets and help him get out of bed when he wasn’t feeling good. It was a challenge because it was so unknown. Changing his sheets with gloves and a face shield was really a scary time.”

–Chris Evans managed to squeeze in a Trump insult and a thirst trap all within the last 24 hours. Bless.

–Rihanna apologized for using a song that included sacred Islamic verses during her lingerie fashion show. As apologies go this was a very good one — though probably should have gone on her feed rather than her stories.

–Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling are calling BS on Jessica Alba‘s no eye contact claim on the 90210 set. The best part about her claim is that I haven’t seen this many rumours surface about Alba’s terrible behaviour since when she was shooting Dark Angel. Did she Streisand Effect herself?

-2020 just won’t give up: Eddie Van Halen has passed away from throat cancer at 65.

-The mother of Katie Holmes‘ new boyfriend is reportedly not thrilled that he dumped his fiancée of 18 months to be with her.

-The Good Place’s William Jackson Harper wrote a disturbing thread about being blocked by the government from screening Malcolm X at military academies.

-I liked The Haunting of Hill House but for some reason never watched the last episode. I should catch up because the follow up, The Haunting of Bly Manor, starts this week and is getting good reviews.

–Tyra Banks read out the wrong bottom two names on live TV during Dancing with the Stars last night. To make matters worse, they put her in this outfit.

–Marc Maron is pushing for Netflix to wrap up Glow in a 2-hour movie and I would love this, especially since it ended in such a weird place. It feels like a lot of people are getting gun-shy about starting new Netflix series, knowing that they will likely be cancelled mid-flow.

-Is Chris Pratt actually mocking celebs who urge people to vote? In this economy??

–Mandy Patinkin‘s anti-Trump video is a work of art.

-This is a very good, very bleak read on the growing crisis facing movie theaters big and small.

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid Are Parents

–Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid confirmed that they’ve welcomed their first child, a baby girl. She could already be a hand model.

-In other baby news, Mandy Moore is pregnant. The This Is Us actress announced on social media that she and husband Taylor Goldsmith are expecting their first child – a baby boy.

-Meanwhile, it looks like This Is Us fans won’t have to wait until November to watch Season 5, as previously announced. The show’s premiere date has been pushed forward two weeks to Oct 27, as production resumed this week. Check out other fall tv premiere dates here.

-Saturday Night Live’s season premiere will air on Oct 3 and feature Chris Rock and Megan Thee Stallion.

–Demi Lovato has called off her engagement with soap star Max Ehrich after just two months. (There’s no official confirmation, but that People quote sure sounds like a PR soundbite from her camp.) Meanwhile her fans were convinced that her fiancé is obsessed with Selena Gomez.

-I’m always surprised by the celebrity homes that I really like in Architectural Digest videos. Hilary Duff’s home is lovely!

–Elle Fanning covers Vanity Fair and talks about transitioning to adult roles—and bonding with sister Dakota—while quarantining in her childhood bedroom.

–Meghan Markle recorded a special message for America’s Got Talent fan favourite Archie.

–Tyra Banks admits “we messed up” when it came to America’s Next Top Model’s mission to be inclusive.

-I never actually watched The Knick but this is kind of amazing: Steven Soderbergh is reviving the series, which ran from 2104-2016, with Andre Holland and Barry Jenkins.

–Sohla El-Waylly, who recently left Bon Appetit’s Test Kitchen, has now joined the Babish YouTube series.

-Riverdales’ KJ Apa and Camila Mendes seem to think that gargling with mouthwash before filming kissing scenes will protect them from covid. And…they may be right?

-Meanwhile, this Vulture article on the ambiguous covid rules on productions and the lack of industry consensus is terrifying. I’m also incredibly curious about what show the PA who said this worked on: “On my Netflix job, the lead actor got sick. Four people — two from the crew and two cast members — died from covid.”

-Netflix has launched a new production hub in Vancouver, where a lot of shows have resumed filming.

-CW stars Asha Bromfield, Candice Patton, Nafessa Williams and Vanessa Morgan joined Teen Vogue for a conversation about diversity in Hollywood. Speaking of a CW sisterhood, I’m so curious about what happened with Shethority, which was started by a bunch of CW actresses. Patton was very involved in the beginning but seems to have pulled back.

-There’s a new report that Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill are reshooting Justice League scenes for Snyder’s director’s cut, but Cavill says he’s not.

-The Father of the Bride cast is reuniting for a new charity event.

-Bummer: Sofia Coppola‘s new film with Bill Murray and Rashida Jones is not getting good reviews.

-Have you seen Beyond the Lights? Gugu Mbatha-Raw plays a Beyonce wannbe and Minnie Driver plays her stage mom and it’s so, so good that I have no idea how come it isn’t more well known. In any case, I love that Mbatha-Raw is promoting another movie but willing to answer so many questions about that one.

–Riz Ahmed plays a drummer who’s losing his hearing in Amazon’s Sound of Metal trailer. This played a TIFF last year to strong reviews.

Duffy Reveals Tragic Reason for her Disappearance from the Spotlight

-This is harrowing. Remember Duffy? She came up around the same time as Adele and for awhile was just as big. And then she disappeared. On Instagram today she posted: “Many of you wonder what happened to me, where did I disappear to and why…The truth is, and please trust me I am ok and safe now, I was raped and drugged and held captive over some days. Of course I survived. The recovery took time.” She says she will be posting an interview in the coming weeks.

–Pete Davidson just ran through his romantic relationships in a very “thank u, next” kind of way. In a YouTube interview with Charlamagne Tha God, he discussed his split from Kaia Gerber, saying “She’s very young, and I’m f*cking going through a lot and it was before I went to rehab. It’s just like, she should be having fun. She shouldn’t have to worry about some dude that just has issues and shit. She should be enjoying her work. It just wasn’t the right place or the right time at all.” He also said he’s “learned a lot from the awesome chicks that I’ve been with” and mentioned Margaret Qualley (“she will win an Oscar”), Kate Beckinsale (“f*cking legendary…all my uncles freaked out”), Ariana Grande (“I pretty much knew it was around over after [her ex Mac Miller died]. That was really horrible, and I can’t imagine what that shit is like. All I do know is that she really loved the shit out of him, and she wasn’t putting on a show or anything”) and Cazzie David (“one of the funniest people I’ve met”).

-He also hinted that his time with SNL might be coming to an end, saying “I personally think I should be done with that show because they make fun of me on it. I’m like, cold open, political punchlines. I’m like, Weekend Update jokes…I have a weird feeling in that building, where I don’t know whose team they’re playing for — if I’m the joke or I’m in on the joke.” After the interview dropped, Page Six posted a story about how he gets preferential treatment from Lorne Michaels and doesn’t contribute much in the writers’ room. Said a source: “Pete has a pretty cushy gig, to say the least,” while another added, “The cast isn’t into him. He’s just there — he doesn’t add much.”

-The interview was to promote his new Netflix special, which isn’t getting great reviews.

-Photographers were “banned” from taking pictures of Beyoncé at the Kobe and Gigi Bryant celebration of life yesterday.

–Lady Gaga‘s new single “Stupid Love” is dropping on Friday.

-Disney is doing a Bob swap. Their chief executive, Bob Iger, will step down after 15 years at the helm of the company, replaced by Bob Chapek, who was most recently chairman of Disney’s parks business. The timing of all this is very head-scratchy.

-Filming on Mission: Impossible 7 has halted in Venice, Italy due to fear of coronavirus.

-For months, Tyra Banks has been trying to hype her forthcoming venture: ModelLand, a model-themed attraction (in a mall!). Tickets are now on sale — and everyone is still very confused.

-In her new EW cover story, Danai Gurira opens up about life after The Walking Dead, and putting big-screen stardom on hold to fulfill her life’s mission behind the scenes.

-Legends of Tomorrow’s Caity Lotz is making her directorial debut with tonight’s episode and despite having no personal connection, I’m weirdly proud of her.
