Keira Knightley Talks Paternity Leave, Childcare Costs

keira-knightley-harpers-bazaar-cover

-I like that Keira Knightley spends so much time in her Harper’s Bazaar cover story talking about how expensive child care is for the average working mother and how paternity leave should be extended. Unexpected but awesome.

Meghan Markle was photographed for the first time since the Prince Harry romance was revealed. Dammit, I wanted to snap the first shot the next time Suits tapes next to my office. I was hoping to cake up!

Tracy Morgan says he forgives the truck driver who left him hospitalized: “I’m not mad at him — I forgave him.”

Gabrielle Union warmly reminisced about 10 Things I Hate About You costar Heath Ledger. “He was great, warm, funny. We had a lot of fun. I thought all movies were like that. We literally ate dinner together every night.”

-Wow wow wow. Dave Chappelle is hosting SNL on Nov. 12, NBC says. A Tribe Called Quest will be the musical guest.

-Well, this is terrible. Michael Bublé says his 3-year-old son has cancer.”‘We will win this battle, god willing.”

Mariah Carey took the stage for the first time since splitting from fiance James Packerand I was there! She was an hour late, everyone was pushy, we froze our butts off and she only sang two songs. So worth it.

-Here are some photos of 26-year-old Jennifer Lawrence kissing her 47-year-old boyfriend to get your weekend off to an icky start.

-I’m glad there’s backlash from Johnny Depp being in the Fantastic Beasts movies. I still don’t know how JK Rowling let this happen. She’s always had a pretty tight grip on the films.

-This is a great voting PSA starring Rachel Bloom, Moby, Elizabeth Banks, Adam Scott, Felicia Day, Jane Lynch and Adam Pally.

Kelly Clarkson‘s version of “It’s Quiet Uptown” (a song about losing a child) from the Hamilton mixtape. I she recorded it when she was pregnant. Guys, I’m openly weeping. Guys.

Sterling K. Brown is in talks to join Sarah Paulson in American Crime Story season 2, Katrina. YASS!

-Speaking of Ryan Murphy shows, he just cast Lady Gaga as Donatella Versace, which seems like a no brainer.

-Yikes. Bill Simmons‘ HBO show was canceled after just four months.

-Did Britney Spears go to Thunder From Down Under? She does Vegas like I do Vegas and I love her for it.

-The new Trainspotting 2 trailer left me weirdly optimisitic! Now excuse me while I go listen to “Born Slippy” on a loop.

-Batman’s greatest fear is becoming a father figure (or seeing a snake clown) in the new Lego Batman Movie trailer. This might be the best use of Michael Cera ever.

Introducing Caitlyn Jenner

bruce-jenner-caitlyn-jenner-vanity-fair

Bruce Jenner has landed on Vanity Fair after the transition news and introduced the world to Caitlyn Jenner in a beautiful cover, photographed by Annie Leibovitz. (She also has a new Twitter account, which smashed Obama’s record as the fastest person ever to reach 1M followers.) I love how the reveal was done in such a classy, refreshingly non-trashy manner (the exact opposite of how that family usually operates). I also love that she could have gone with Kaitlyn, but chose Caitlyn.

-But what I really, really love is that Caitlyn just stole all of Kim Kardashian’s baby news thunder. (Kim really keeps trying, tho.)

Tracy Morgan‘s emotional first interview since his car crash last year is a hard watch.

-Well, this isn’t good: Mila Kunis‘ stalker has escaped a mental institution.

Jaden Smith went to prom with the girl who plays Rue in The Hunger Games. They both wore dresses.

-Wow, Vince Vaughn hid his crazy well.

-I’ve fallen behind on Outlander and the Twitter outrage that exploded last night after the finale convinced me that I’m not going to catch up because I just can’t stomach another brutal depiction of rape on TV this season, but this is a very well-reasoned exploration about the value (or lack of value) of those scenes.

-Speaking of last night’s TV, at least Game of Thrones was less rape-y and more meme-able than usual. It’s *almost* as if the show doesn’t need to rely on sexual violence to have its best episode of the season.

-Also, Danish actress Birgitte Hjort Sørensen was the best thing about last night’s GoT. It wasn’t until the episode ended that I realized she also played the lead singer of the rival group in Pitch Perfect 2.

Ellie Goulding and Lorde partied with Katy Perry. Does Taylor Swift know about this?!

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin were photographed together again, so that’s still happening.

-I couldn’t watch this video of George Clooney dancing at a U2 concert on the off chance that he has dad moves which eradicate all of my fuzzy feelings for him.

-Also, George‘s rep denied his reported comments on baby plans. I’m impressed that they actually managed to pull together a coherent statement instead of just responding with this:

-Did Nicki Minaj just announce her split from Meek Mill on Instagram? That is both cold and awesome.

Mindy Kaling says she’s looking for a new BFF. Sign me up!

-Also, I love her new haircut. (And as potential BFF material, I’m totally willing to give her the honest truth about these sorts of things…)

Jessica Chastain would like to remind you that she’s not in Jurassic World.

Ian Somerhalder apologized (sorta) for that video that came out asking his fans to leave him alone.

Lindsay Lohan has a new situation boyfriend.

-Speaking of the JW press tour, Chris Pratt showed off his awesome early headshots — but Melissa McCarthy has him beat.

-I’m glad to see that the new season of Orange Is the New Black is getting good early reviews.

-In other TV news, UnREAL debuts tonight and Vulture calls it “one of the most aggressively interesting dramas in recent memory.” I really liked the pilot.

-Man, they are just going to run the 50 Shades franchise into the ground, huh?

-I’m not a fan of The Big Bang Theory but this scholarship fund the show just set up is pretty boss.

Tina Fey and Amy Schumer made out at the Peabody Awards last night. (Or, as Tina said, she Madonna’d her.)

-This dog stripping sketch might be the first Amy Schumer bit of the season that I don’t love. But she makes up for it with her wedding objection sketch. The button on that one kills me.

Haley Atwell says the highlight of her life is when she improvised the chest grab she copped with Chris Evans in Captain America, and they kept it in the movie.

-The Critics’ Choice Awards were also last night. Man, imagine if the Emmy nominations read like this list? I also love that the show had gorgeous fan art for the stars to pose in front of.

-A family road trip comedy seems like a weird career turn for Rosamund Pike after Gone Girl, but this is kind of cute.

What’s Up with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner?

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

-Rumours that there’s trouble in Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner‘s marriage are all over the low-tier tabloids this week, but they just got a boost with this new blind item. Seems to fit, as Affleck was in Cheticamp, NS last month and the Oklahoma reference reminds me of all those whispers about him and Olga Kurylenko when they were shooting Terrence Malick‘s To The Wonder there. Still, I hope it’s not true. I always root for them. (Well, I root for her because she’s Sydney ‘effing Bristow, and him by extension…)

-In other blind item news, we’re all trying to sleuth out which awful,  sexist Girls guest star Lena Dunham is talking about in this THR roundtable clip, right? Also, Amy Shumer‘s reaction to Lena’s story is all of us.

-Toast’s “If xx Were Your Boyfriend” posts are always great, but the Vin Diesel one reaches new heights.

J.K. Rowling shut down a homophobic Westboro Baptist Church with one magical tweet.

Bobby Flay‘s divorce just keeps getting nastier. Now his estranged wife is claiming he slept with January Jones “many times” during their marriage, leading to some speculation that he’s her baby daddy. (I’m still going with X-Men director Matthew Vaughn, if we’re taking bets. Which we’re not, cause that would be kinda gross.)

-Are Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama engaged?

Lindsay Lohan has reportedly completed her community service hours, and now her fate is in a judge’s hands after she fudged her record.

Tracy Morgan has settled his lawsuit with Walmart over the highway crash that left him critically injured, and is set to give his first interview since the crash on the Today Show.

-I spent way too much time fighting about this on Twitter yesterday, but this Tom Hardy vs. the Toronto Star reporter meme that’s everywhere is total bullshit. If anyone bothered to read any of the reporter’s coverage of Mad Max, they’d see the question was meant to make a point. (The girl who first posted the meme has since deleted the tweet, but that hasn’t stopped people from running with it like dicks.)

-The creator of Netflix’s Grace and Frankie is crediting a tweet from Miley Cyrus for the show’s renewal.

-It’s weird that critics are reviewing the Supergirl pilot based on the version that leaked online, but at least they like it.

-Meanwhile, I’m down with any critic who isn’t enthralled with Netflix’s Daredevil, but why do they always have to poop on the CW in their reviews?

-I listen to a lot of comedy podcasts and it never ceases to surprise me about how openly comedians will talk shit about each other. It’s weirdly refreshing.

Jeremy Renner crashed a wedding and took advantage of its open bar — but remained “standoffish” to the guests. Sounds about right.

-Is Channing Tatum having trouble convincing directors to helm his Gambit movie?

-A source tells E! News that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are “definitely not” back together. So there’s that.

-I wasn’t expecting Aloha to get rave reviews, but critics are HATING on it. Variety called it “Cameron Crowe’s worst film yet“, the Globe called out his “sloppy sentimentality,” and everyone seems to be having a hard time getting over the obvious age gap between Emma Stone and Bradley Cooper. Oh, and Stone’s character is part Asian, which is thrilling critics. It’s currently sitting at a tragic 8% on Rotten Tomatoes.

-It’s hustle time for Patrick Dempsey.

-I’ve been so very over Game of Thrones and it’s rape-y ways the last couple of episodes, but at least this looks promising.

-Are Kate Hudson and Derek Hough dating or just awkwardly hugging in public?

-The redband trailer for American Ultra, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Connie Britton and Kristen Stewart, has landed. It looks like a stoner version of the Bourne movies, which I can totally get behind.
