Emma Stone Got Engaged at SNL

-According to Page Six, SNL producer Dave McCary popped the question to Emma Stone in the show’s offices. The source insists it was “very romantic” though.

-I don’t know how she possibly managed this, but Gwen Stefani’s annulment from ex-husband Gavin Rossdale has been granted by the Catholic church, paving the way for her to get re-married in the church.

-Bridgerton breakout Nicola Coughlan is having the last laugh when it comes to people who said there shouldn’t be diversity in Regency romances.

Tessa Thompson says she got into a car accident on New Year’s Eve. She told Jimmy Kimmel, “I drove up a mountain to go to a cabin, and I thought, ‘This will be totally safe because I won’t see anybody,’ but I got into a car accident…Yeah, I got hit by a big monster truck on the highway.”

-Terrible: ER’s Deezer D, who played Nurse Malik, has died at 55. ER alums Noah Wylie, Kellie Martin, Julianna Margulies and Mekhi Phifer have posted their condolences.

-Also terrible: the lead character designer on Bob’s Burgers died in a skydiving accident.

-Apple TV+ has unveiled a new trailer for its upcoming Israeli drama series Losing Alice, starring Daredevil’s Ayelet Zurer.

-Outlander costars Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish lead a new roadtrip Starz reality show set in Scotland called Men In Kilts. Here’s the trailer.

-Despite Shia LaBeouf‘s presence, I really liked Pieces of a Woman, which just dropped on Netflix. Vanessa Kirby steals the show.

-Netflix finally gave us a trailer for the much-anticipated Malcolm & Marie starring Zendaya and John David Washington. Writer/director Sam Levinson shot the romantic drama during the early days of COVID-19 lockdown. They’re releasing it on Feb. 5, which means it’ll be out in time for Academy Awards consideration.

Julia Roberts Talks Hollywood Longevity

-In her new Marie Claire cover story, Julia Roberts talks about how Hollywood has changed during her lifetime: “When I started, there wasn’t any social networks, the internet barely existed, people couldn’t take photos with their mobile phones. There were logical stages of career progression. You did a film, if it worked you’d have a chance to work again. If your second film was a success, you could get a better pay cheque and another new role. Now someone can come out of nowhere and achieve incredible things, which I imagine is very destabilising. Building a career was a lot more methodical 30 years ago.”

Janelle Monáe brought Lupita Nyong’o onstage to dance during her show and it made my day.

-Spider-Man: Far From Home is being promoted as a crucial epilogue to Avengers: Endgame — and it seems to be working. It’s tracking for a $150M holiday weekend at the box office.

Rihanna got emotional when reuniting with her old PE teacher and it was v. sweet.

-I recently binged a lot of episodes of Drunk History, which is always a good idea. The new Tessa Thompson episode in which she plays Eartha Kitt needs to get in my eyeballs stat!

-This recap of every insanely good look Céline Dion has worn at couture week thus far is perfect content.

-Breaking Bad star Anna Gunn cleared up Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul‘s cryptic tweets. It’s not for the upcoming BB movie; the actors are going into business on a tequila brand called Dos Hombres.

-The world does not need a live-action Little Mermaid movie, but if it must exist I’m glad that Ariel will be played by a beautiful black actress who was discovered by Beyonce.

Keanu Reeves took a break from being the internet’s boyfriend to start shooting the new Bill & Ted movie.  We’ll allow it.

-Yikes! Channing Tatum has been granted a restraining order after a woman allegedly broke in and was found living in his Hollywood home.

A$AP Rocky was arrested last night following an altercation on a street in Sweden.

-This is lovely: Pharrell Williams surprised 114 Harlem students by guaranteeing them “A-list internships” at the end of their freshman year of college.

-Looks like Noel and Liam Gallagher still need buckets of therapy.

-I’m bummed that Fred Savage‘s after-show spoof What Just Happened is mostly just a bitter takedown of fan culture. The premise was promising.

-The first trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level has arrived. I watched the last one on a plane and was surprised at how much I laughed.

-In her Marie Claire cover, Tessa Thompson talks about living out everyone’s fantasy by having a spa day with Emma Thompson, and says #TimesUp “allowed me to say things I’m not sure I would have said a year ago. The truth is, the system where you assess international value is inherently sexist and racist because we haven’t had those opportunities. The only way to disrupt that is to create new models.” I love her so much, I can barely remember that she was once that kind of annoying character on Veronica Mars.

-Also, Tessa says Chris Hemsworth is “really sensitive” despite his fame and looks.

-Unfortunately, Tessa and Chris‘s new movie Men In Black isn’t getting great reviews.

-On a podcast with her former costars, Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev says she and Paul Wesleydespised each other” for the first half a season. Between this and the fact that her and Ian Somerhalder seemed to have negative chemistry after they broke up IRL, that set must have been a riot.

-What the hell is Drake doing??

-Welp. Jessica Biel is apparently lobbying California lawmakers alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has some questionable opinions about vaccine.

Miley Cyrus used her anniversary post to shut down split rumours. She’s also apologized for a 2017 comment about not liking hip-hop anymore. “‘This pushed me out of the hip hop scene a little’ was insensitive as it is a privilege to have the ability to dip in and out of ‘the scene.'”

-I don’t think we need another season of Russian Doll because the first was perfect, but I said that about Big Little Lies and Barry, so what do I know?

-So Bradley Cooper‘s camp seems to be pushing the “he was too busy being an auteur” angle in the break up stories which is…a choice.

-There are two new novels I can’t wait to read this summer: Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s Fleishman Is in Trouble, and Linda Holmes‘ Evvie Drake Starts Over. So I’m thrilled to see excerpts have been released of both! Here’s the one from Fleishman, and here’s Evvie.

-Oh god, this documentary on the late Anton Yelchin is going to be heartbreaking.
