Harry Styles is Dashing on Dazed

–Harry Styles covers the winter issue of Dazed and the photo shoot is worth a look. He talks about branching out into acting (“You’re trying to remove a lot of yourself and key into someone else. On the most basic level, it’s like being a kid and you’re playing pretend. I am not a very confrontational person, I think I’m pretty chill, so then when you have a character who is like that, it’s fun to explore”), and his new line of beauty products (“It’s starting with nail polish, because that was kind of the birth of what it was for. Me seeing a colour on a flower or a wallpaper or something and thinking, ‘Oh, I wanna put that on my nails.’ It was a fun little project, but during the pandemic, and when we eventually named it Pleasing, it felt like it was so much more than nail polish”).

-It’s Taylor Swift‘s world; we’re just living in it. On Friday night, she debuted her short film for “All Too Well” starring Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink and Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien, and on SNL she performed an epic 10-minute version of the song with the film playing behind her. Then today, she dropped the music video for “I Bet You Think About Me“, which marks Blake Lively‘s directorial debut and stars (for some reason) Miles Teller.

–Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted out with his sister Maggie this weekend, so Taylor fans are letting him live (barely).

-Is Shia LaBeouf about to become a father? Following allegations of abuse levelled against him by ex-girlfriend FKA twigs, he reportedly got back with his ex-wife, actress Mia Goth. And now it looks like they’re expecting.

–Kristen Stewart is developing a gay ghost-hunting reality show with a friend, which she has described as “a paranormal romp in a queer space,” with elevated aesthetics. This sounds like the reality TV version of her film Personal Shopper and I’m in.

-Love this profile on Succession’s J. Smith-Cameron (and it explains her recent tweet about having “the greatest first date”).

-From divorce to weight loss, Adele didn’t hold back details in her tell-all interview with Oprah last night on CBS.

-There were a ton of celebs in Adele‘s hand-picked audience, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Drake, Selena Gomez, Tracee Ellis Ross, Ava DuVernay, Gayle King, Childish Gambino, Kris Jenner, Ellen DeGeneres, Nicole Richie, Seth Rogan, Tyler Perry, Aaron Paul and James Corden.

-Meanwhile, I don’t usually like public proposals but the one during her special was great, especially because the woman’s shock extended when she was told to sit down and they put her next to Lizzo and then Melissa McCarthy handed her a drink.

-Last week’s Disney+ Day was a mess. The biggest miss is how they put most of the trailers behind a paywall so they couldn’t be shared on social. (Also, the fact that they forgot to untag all the previously mentioned celebs in their Twitter thread made my social media manager heart hurt.) But some trailers have started to trickle out, including Oscar Isaac doing an awful accent in Moon Knight, and Iman Vellani making her debut as Ms. Marvel.

–Serena and Venus Williams brought the drama to the premiere of King Richard (which I saw this weekend and am still undecided on.)

–Lin-Manuel Miranda is promoting Tick Tick Boom (which I also saw this weekend and loved) and says he’s not worried about so-called “cancel culture.” “Once something has success, you’re not the underdog trying to make it happen anymore. You have to graduate past the mindset of, like, it’s a miracle I got something on the stage. Because now that is expected of me. And people go, ‘Yeah, but what about this? And what about this?’ And that’s fair! I do that with art I find lacking…It’s not cancellation. That’s having opinions. So I try to take it in that spirit.”

–Mel Gibson is set to direct Lethan Weapon 5, because cancel culture doesn’t exist.

-The teaser trailer for Downton Abbey: A New Era has arrived.

–Joaquin Phoenix plays a family man in the new trailer for Mike Mills’ C’mon C’mon.

-Here’s the trailer for Silent Night, starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Goode. I saw this at TIFF and it straddles a really hard line between dark comedy and massively depressing doomsday drama.

-It happened! Today in an LA courtroom, Britney Spears’ 13-year conservatorship was terminated, effective today.

–Paris Hilton married venture capitalist Carter Reum, and People has all the pics. She wore 4 different wedding dresses on the first night of the 3-day celebrations.

–Taylor Swift just revisited her past romance with Jake Gyllenhaal in the form of a new, 10-minute version of “All Too Well” and there’s a lot to unpack in the revised lyrics.

–Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell jokingly “swapped” late night guest spots.

-This is a great roundup with Succession’s production crew, from the cinematographer to the costume designer, on how they make the family’s extreme wealth look as miserable as it feels. “Their environs aren’t gilded or garish, but they ARE soulless, so devoid of texture and mess as to seem slightly inhuman.”

-Reshoots on big superhero movies aren’t unusual, but sources tell THR that Benedict Cumberbatch and company are undertaking six weeks of filming, if not more, working six days a week on “significant” reshoots for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

-It’s Disney+ Day and they’ve dropped a lot of first looks and announcements, including our first glimpse of Tatiana Maslany and Mark Ruffalo in She-Hulk, the first photo of the Sanderson sisters in Hocus Pocus 2, news about Enchanted’s sequel, and confirmation of a WandaVision spinoff in which Kathryn Hahn will reprise her Agatha Harkness role.

–Andy Dick is facing felony domestic violence charges after allegedly hitting his boyfriend in the head with a liquor bottle.

-The new Showtime drama Yellowjackets, starring Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey and Cypress, is getting great reviews and comparisons to Lost. It debuts on Sunday.

-Here’s our first look at Lindsay Lohan‘s upcoming Netflix romcom, which seems like such a good career move for her.

-No show does better at putting out content to keep their audience engaged between seasons than The Boys.

–Jane Krakowski has stepped down from her role in NBC’s Annie Live! after being diagnosed with a breakthrough case of Covid. Megan Hilty is stepping in instead.

-HBOMax released its first teaser trailer for the Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That — and just like that, I’m in.

–Lady Gaga is on the December cover of of both British Vogue and Vogue Italia. She looks amazing on both, but it’s the Italia one on the right for me. In the interview, she talks about how committed she was when preparing for her role in House of Gucci. “It is three years since I started working on it and I will be fully honest and transparent: I lived as [her character Reggiani] for a year and a half. And I spoke with an accent for nine months of that. Off camera, I never broke. I stayed with her.”

-J. Crew unveiled its holiday campaign with Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith, and the whole thing is a delight! The little videos further down on the page are sooo cute. “Katie, call me in case this doesn’t work out.” “You call it a toque.” “That’s its name!”

–Kristen Stewart confirmed that she and her girlfriend of two years, Dylan Meyer, are engaged. She told Howard Stern, “We’re marrying, we’re totally gonna do it.”

-In his British GQ cover story, Jamie Dornan says he’s sick of people making fun of Fifty Shades of Grey. “Look, put it this way: It’s done no harm to my career to be part of a movie franchise that has made more than $1 billion. Every working actor would say the same thing. It’s provided a lot. There’s no shame in saying it’s transformed my life and my family’s life financially. I am very, very grateful for this and always will be…But I take issue with the whole thing being just a bit of a joke. Everyone involved worked as hard as they could on those films, including myself.”

-Game Of Thrones actress Gemma Whelan, who played Yara, says the show didn’t have an intimacy coordinator so sex scenes were a “frenzied mess.”

-Speaking of GoT alums, Jason Momoa says he’s “camped out at his house” after testing positive for covid. Judging by the rep he gained while shooting in here in Toronto this summer, I’m not surprised.

–Ed Sheeran has been cleared to perform on SNL after completing quarantine following a positive test. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift and Saweetie have just been added as musical guests in Nov.

-The remaining members of Little Mix say that they talked to Jesy Nelson about blackfishing before she left the group last December. “Jesy was approached by the band in a very friendly, educational manner.”

–Shonda Rhimes‘ next Netflix show, Inventing Anna, will drop in Feb. The eight-episode limited series, based on a New York Magazine story about a charming young grifter who infiltrated NYC’s social scene, began production in fall 2019 and finished a full year later because of the pandemic.

-I love that the girls from The Bold Type spent Halloween together.

–Dave Chappelle introduced Jay-Z‘s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and began his speech by saying, “I would like to apologize to… Nah, I’m just f—in’ with ya.” Classy.

–Kieran Culkin visited Vanity Fair’s Succession podcast and talked about how his character will never admit how much he loves his siblings.
