–SZA interviewed Doja Cat for V Magazine. The interview is good but the photos freak me out…

–A new clip from Meghan Markle‘s chat with Oprah has been released and it focuses on why she’s “ready to talk” now. When asked why she turned down Oprah’s interview request during her engagement, she said, “We’re on the other side of a lot of life experience that’s happened. We have the ability to make our own choices in a way that I couldn’t have said ‘yes’ to [earlier]. That wasn’t my choice to make.” She added, “As an adult who lived a really independent life to then go into this construct that is different than I think what people imagine it to be, it’s really liberating to be able to have the right and the privilege in some ways to be able to say, ‘Yes, I’m ready to talk,’ to be able to just make a choice on your own, and to be able to just speak for yourself.”

-Meanwhile, the creator of Suits and her costar Patrick J Adams have jumped to Markle’s defense.

–Lil Nas X just delivered the ultimate “This you?” After Tekashi 6ix9ine posted a homophobic joke, Nas X responded with screenshots of Tekashi sliding into his DMs.

-This is why I can’t commit to any more shows on The CW. Despite debuting to great ratings and already being renewed, Superman & Lois will going on hiatus after its 4th episode — and not come back until the middle of MAY.

–Seth Rogen weighed in after his mom tweeted about the orgasms on Bridgerton.

–Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively donated $250,000 to address the need to end educational and employment gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada.

-Pose will end with a shortened season 3. “We got to tell the exact story we wanted, as we wanted to tell it, and I’m incredibly honored and grateful,” Ryan Murphy said.

-I already adore The Good Fight — and now Mandy Patinkin has joined the cast!

-I haven’t watched the WandaVision finale yet, but I like this piece on how its weekly release schedule created a deeper relationship between the audience and the show. It feels like the first “watercooler show” since Game of Thrones.

–Gigi Hadid returned to the runway after her pregnancy for Versace.

-Entertainment Weekly has the first official images from Space Jam: A New Legacy — and men on the internet got mad because the animated character Lola Bunny no longer has big boobs. Sigh.

–Cristin Milioti stars in the trailer for HBO Max’s new dramedy series Made For Love.

–Lenny Kravtiz is making 56 look real good on the cover of Mens Health.

–SZA tweeted both a confirmation of, and a correction to, Drake’s claim that they dated on his song “Mr. Right Now”.

–Sir Patrick Stewart recorded his final sonnet for Twitter. I’m going to miss these.

–Harvey Weinstein has been charged with six additional counts of sexual assault ahead of his Los Angeles trial on sex crime charges.

-Gilmore Girls debuted 20 years ago today. In a rare streaming-to-broadcast deal, The CW will air Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival in November.

-Aw nuts. Despite receiving a fourth and final renewal, Netflix announced they won’t be creating any more episodes of Glow due to the COVID-19 shutdown. I hate these reverse decisions on renewals. I get they can’t shoot anything now, but is there no way to hold the show for a year?

-Speaking of Netflix, they also opted not to pick up a second season of Teenage Bounty Hunters, which is surprising because that show seemed universally beloved.

-A Netflix show that is NOT universally beloved right now is Emily in Paris. I tried but the way they portray social media managers was too much to get me past episode 3. It’s pretty, but the lead character is too arrogant to raise it to Younger or The Bold Type levels of fun.

-The movie industry has basically given up 2020. Following last week’s announcement that the new James Bond would move to Easter 2021 and F9 would also be pushed to May 2021, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune has bumped its release date all the way to next October.

-Meanwhile, Hocus Pocus was re-released and it nearly beat Tenet at this weekend’s box office.

-The NYPD is offering a reward “up to $2,500” for information regarding Rick Moranis’ assailant after the actor was randomly attacked while going for a walk on Friday.

-HBO Max’s West Wing reunion special has cast Sterling K. Brown as Leo.

-The Game of Thrones creators talked about that coffee cup showing up in the final season (“I couldn’t believe it”) but seem pretty unapologetic about the reaction to the finale.

-I never want to watch any Game of Thrones-adjacent thing again but good for Paddy Considine for getting cast as the lead in the prequel House Of The Dragon. I adore him.

-The only good part about the SNL premiere was Chloe Fineman‘s impression of Drew Barrymore, which Barrymore adored.

-I love how tight the three main actresses on Supergirl seem to be in real life.

–Mick Fleetwood joined TikTok and recreated that viral video of a guy longboarding while sipping cranberry juice.

-The cast of Dazed and Confused — including Matthew McConaughey — will virtually reunite for a table read to benefit March for Science and the Voto Latino Foundation.

–Rihanna is getting a lot of praise for her body inclusive lingerie campaign.

-Here’s the first trailer for Netflix’s Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, starring Forest Whitaker, Keegan-Michael Key, Anika Noni Rose and Phylicia Rashad.

-Speaking of kids movies, Anne Hathaway terrorizes children in the first trailer for HBO Max’s The Witches, costarring Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci and Chris Rock. Weirdly, it’s still slated for a theatrical release in Canada.

Drake Enlists Justin Bieber for “Popstar” Video

–Drake and DJ Khaled debuted their new music video for “Popstar” and it features surprise appearances from Justin and Hailey Bieber. Two things: this is the best Bieber has looked in a long time, and why is there a “COVID Compliance Officer” listed in the credits when there’s zero social distancing??

-To celebrate her birthday, Beyonce donated $1 million to black-owned businesses.

-Meanwhile, we might have a new Beyonce project soon. Page Six reports that Bey shut down a television studio for four days to film something mysterious.

–Rumer Willis is having quite a week. She kicked off dating speculation when she was spotted hanging with newly single Armie Hammer, and now she’s shooting sexy IG videos for Kim Kardashian‘s Skims.

-Speaking of the Kardashians, the one thing you can praise that family for is that they seem to have taken social distancing seriously — unlike 75% of the celebs I see on IG.

–Scarlett Johansson says the new Black Widow movie will address #MeToo and #TimesUp directly. If only we could see it without fear of dying.

–Alexander Payne published a guest column in Deadline today, in which he denies Rose McGowan allegation that he groomed her for a sexual assault when she was 15. “Rose is mistaken in saying we met when she was fifteen, in the late 1980s. I was a full-time film student at UCLA from 1984 until 1990, and I know that our paths never crossed.”

–McGowan responded to his comments with “I told Payne to acknowledge and apologize, he has not. I said I didn’t want to destroy, now I do. Why do these men always lie? I will now make it a mission to expose him. I am not the only one.”

-Who knows when we’ll get a new album, but at least Rihanna’s documentary will be released on Amazon next year.

-Despite public disputes with her record label, in which she accused them of not letting her put out new music, we finally have something new from SZA! The singer-songwriter dropped the music video for her new single “Hit Different” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

-I’ve never watched the CBS sitcom Mom, but it seems odd that Anna Faris is leaving the show. Isn’t she the lead?

-Another day, another stunning look from Cate Blanchett in Venice. I love that she’s recycling outfits she’s worn on previous red carpets!

-I’m really liking Vulture’s Two Friends series on Instagram Live, mostly because of all the odd celebrity pairings. Who knew You’re the Worst’s Desmin Borges and Tala Ashe from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow were buds?

-This is a really interesting take on what the movie industry in 2020 might have looked like without covid. Would Will Smith and Ana de Armas be Oscar frontrunners? Would the Top Gun and Ghostbusters reboots have flopped?

-The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil wants you to know that she’s not actually quarantining with Meghan and Harry. It does sound like a story Tahani would tell though.

-For the first time ever, all Canadians will be able to watch TIFF films digitally during the festival. Tickets for non-members go onsale Saturday at 10am and there’s still some left.  Even if you’re doing it from your couch, it really is the coolest thing to watch movies with big name stars that may never see the light of day, or obscure foreign ones that won’t get distribution here.
