Taylor Swift Talks Helping Fellow Artists

Taylor Swift billboard cover

-In her new Billboard cover story, Taylor Swift discusses advocating for women’s rights and breaking down gender barriers in the industry. “I get so many phone calls from new artists out of the blue — like, ‘Hey, I’m getting my first wave of bad press, I’m freaking out, can I talk to you?’ And the answer is always yes! I’m talking about more than 20 people who have randomly reached out to me. I take it as a compliment because it means that they see what has happened over the course of my career, over and over again.”

-There was a Melrose Place cast reunion and they all still look great!

-Survivor finally ejected Dan Spilo from the game — and it took him harassing a crew member before they did it. He was caught on camera inappropriately touching female players, he make it to the loved ones visit and to the top eight, but producers only removed him after his problematic behavior affected their own team. The show was already wearing it after his first accuser was voted out — the bad press is going to be even worse now.

-Shortly after the news broke that Harvey Weinstein had reached a settlement, Emily Ratajkowski showed up at the premiere of Uncut Gems with the words “Fuck Harvey” scrawled across her arm. She also posted it on IG. In words I have never said before (and likely never will again), go Emily Ratajkowski!

-After multiple interviews defending it, now Olivia Wilde says the depiction of the real-life journalist she plays in Richard Jewel was “out of her control.”

Harry Styles opted to eat cod sperm rather than tell ex-girlfriend Kendall Jenner which of his songs are about her.

Keri Russell was on Jimmy Kimmel’s show last night, and did some adorably terrible Star Wars impersonations. She also showed up Jon Hamm in the pickup line game.

Keanu Reeves‘ John Wick 4 and The Matrix 4 are getting the same release date. This seems…dumb.

Hugh Grant has been in a Twitter feud with Piers Morgan and he’s absolutely owning it.

Victoria Beckham answered fan questions on Instagram and she was kind of adorable about it?

-Despite critics seeming to dislike its new season, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel has already been renewed for season four.

-The In the Heights trailer from Lin Manuel-Miranda and Jon M. Chu is giving me all the feels!

When Mariah Met Mellie

Millie Bobby Brown got to meet Mariah Carey. (Seriously though, every picture of MBB lately makes me double take. She looks so different and I can’t figure out what it is.)

-This might be the most cringe-worthy segment the Ellen Show has ever aired: Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie and Ellen Degeneres debated which celeb male Charlize Theron should date, all while Charlize looked like she wanted to murder everyone in the room who was allowing this to happen. AND THEN they showed a photo of Kidman’s ex Lenny Kravitz and suddenly everyone had murder eyes.

-The Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun feud kicked into high gear last night, went Swift took to social media to accuse Braun and her former label of blocking her from playing her old songs at next weekend’s American Music Awards. Her not having control over the songs that she wrote? Not cool. Her siccing her legion of fans on anyone who disagrees with her? Also not cool. This whole situation is a not cool fest…

-The Actors on Actors interviews continue to roll out. Today’s participants: Charlize Theron and Adam Driver, and Tom Hanks and Renée Zellweger.

-Survivor’s Elizabeth and Missy have apologized for their actions on this week’s episode: “Sexual harassment and sexual assault are extremely serious, life altering topics that I do not take lightly. They have no business being used as tactics to further one’s own agenda, whether it be in real life or in the game of Survivor.”

Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson are quickly turning into my fave celeb couple.

-Quibi (the short form video platform) isn’t expected to launch until next year, but it continues to reel in stars. Bill Murray has signed on to star in a Peter Farrelly comedy series, Will Arnett is going to host a comedy series, the Russo Brothers are creating a Marvel vs DC docu-series, and there’s a Varsity Blues revival.

Lauryn Hill just dropped her first new solo song in five years.

-This is a great look at how Kelly Clarkson pulls off all those covers on her talk show.

-Congrats to Lena Waithe, who revealed that she secretly married her fiancée, Alana Mayo, at a courthouse in San Francisco.

GOOP’s holiday gift guide is fully of goopy ridiculousness.

Mo’Nique is taking Netflix to court for pay discrimination.

-Actress-turned-influencer Eva Amurri, who is currently pregnant, announced her and her husband have split.

This piece is the best thing I’ve read about The Morning Show so far — especially if you’re a Jennifer Aniston scholar.

-I’m just catching up on the controversy about The Social and I don’t really get the uproar? Yeah, Jess‘ comments about hockey players being bullies is subjective (though she did clearly say it was based on her experience), but everything else is pretty undeniable, no? Hockey is played by predominantly white dudes, and it’s really expensive to put your kids in it so it’s mostly dominated by families with a lot of disposable income and time.

-Holy crap, Sesame Street just did a Succession spoof starring Brian Cox and it’s everything I’ve ever wanted.

Gal Gadot Says Beyoncé Inspired Her Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot‘s hair looks oddly cropped on the cover of W, no? In the interview, she talks about listening to Beyoncé before her Wonder Woman audition, and finding out she was pregnant while shooting Justice League.

-I haven’t watched Survivor in years but it’s back in the news because of last night’s episode, which featured a contestant brutally outing a few team member as transgendered during the tribal council.  The outed contestant wrote a moving essay about the experience, while the outee profusely apologized and gave an interview saying “If he wants to shoot me, I’ll hand him the gun. I deserve this.” Jeff Probst was pissed, but no one seems to be putting any blame on CBS for deciding to air it.

Jenna Elfman took part in a Reddit AMA to promote her new show Imaginary Mary but all anyone wanted to ask her about was Scientology.

-The best thing about both The Leftovers and Fargo returning this month is that we’re swimming in fantastic Carrie Coon profiles.

-Meanwhile, here’s a good refresher on where the last season of The Leftovers left us.

-Lost and Leftovers creator Damon Lindelof explains why he thinks bingeing TV shows is bad and why viewers deserve a break between episodes. I don’t disagree.

-Are Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes getting ready to going public? Us Weekly’s magic 8-ball points to “yes.”

-In the latest issue of THR, Stephen Colbert dishes on his angst and anger over why the election felt “like somebody dying.”

Chris Evans proves himself to be even more of a unicorn than we assumed by revealing that he’s never had a bad breakup.

-The Cannes lineup has been announced, and Nicole Kidman will star in not one, but four films there.

-Adding high-profile TV projects for the first time, Cannes will also screen two episodes of David Lynch‘s Twin Peaks and Jane Campion‘s Top of the Lake 2 as special events.

-The Star Wars Celebration event featured a moving tribute to Carrie Fisher and I seem to have something in my eye…

-Not surprising but still happy-making: the reviews for The Handmaid’s Tale are glowing.

-Did you like Big Little Lies? Then you’ll be happy to hear that there are four(!) more Liane Moriarty adaptations in the works.

-Orphan Black fights for the future in this trailer for the final season.

-I don’t disagree with this article about how Lena Dunham is a great actress on Girls. This scene from a few weeks ago took my breath way.

Elle Fanning plays a transitioning teen in the trailer for the controversial 3 Generations.
