Grey’s Anatomy’s Jesse Williams & Wife Aryn Drake-Lee Divorcing

–Jesse Williams and his wife of nearly five years Aryn Drake-Lee are splitting. Dammit. They were my gold standard couple for ‘incredibly hot-looking actor with gorgeous (but in a totally normal way) spouse’.

–Salma Hayek thought her husband was having an affair a couple of days ago — so she used it as a funny anecdote on The Tonight Show.

-If you’re famous and you say something dumb, at least apologize and own up to it like Chris Pratt did.

–Rihanna And Lupita Nyong’o say they’ll make a movie that Twitter made up. Don’t tease us!

-Unlike some of her costars, Samira Wiley is not afraid to call The Handmaid’s Tale “a feminist work.”

–Rachael Leigh Cook updated her infamous drug ad for 4/20, which reminded me that I miss her and want her to be a big star again. Some cable drama needs to scoop her up!

-If there’s a TV writer’s strike, these are the only 8 shows that will air their seasons without interruption — and they are all on streaming services or cable.

-It’s very cute that Selena Gomez attended her former Wizard of Waverly Place costar’s wedding.

–Katherine Heigl‘s new movie debuted to a mere $4.8M, marking a career worst. It’s almost unfortunate because I keep reading good things about the film’s ending and how it completely upends the obsessive woman archetype.

–Serena Williams has no time for racist remarks about her unborn child.

–Carrie Coon is having a moment (and yet still masters the art of dodging drunk people in NYC). Are you watching The Leftovers? It’s kind of perfect this season. Last night’s episode had the guy from Perfect Strangers (as himself) and instead of just playing it for laughs it was kind of heartbreaking.

-Some very bad fashion choices were made at Marie Claire’s Fresh Faces event.

-Great news: the new NBC comedy that Tina Fey is producing, Great News, is getting great reviews.

-Glee’s Naya Rivera may be dating David Spade? What??

-The first promo for ABC’s Dirty Dancing remake has dropped. Judging by the tweets from all the critics I follow who got screeners last week, don’t expect much.

-It tickles me that the network that’s running Jason Alexander‘s new show is sending out his headshot with the press release. Clowns have worn less makeup.

–Tom Cruise is doing his extra-intense thing in the international trailer for The Mummy.

-This is a great interview with Samira Wiley, who talks about her Instagram relationship with Margaret Atwood and the importance of LGBT visibility.

–Kerry Washington’s Glamour profile is a lot to process.

-Despite not really sharing a whole lot, Beyoncé has been deemed the most valuable celebrity on social media, according to a new report.

-Meanwhile, she just revealed more pregnancy shots in her new “Die With You” video.

-Beyond ratings and raves, Big Little Lies ended up being a major win for HBO on multiple levels. I loved the finale — and I especially loved the thoughtful articles that came out about it, whether it was about the show’s commentary on gender bias, praise for Nicole Kidman‘s career-defining performance, or an examination of the shared language women have when it comes to the threat of men.

-Meanwhile, I’m glad the director has squashed talk about there being a season 2. I don’t think there should be more Big Little Lies, but there should definitely be more shows like it. There are a lot of different stories about women left to tell. I mean, I’m intrigued by Prison Break’s return and will probably watch tonight’s premiere, but do we really *need* to revisit that story?

-Speaking of tonight’s returning TV, I totally forgot iZombie was coming back! The reviews are, unsurprisingly, great.

-Wait, so Daniel Craig is back as Bond? Yawn.

-It was a good news/bad news kind of day for Shia LaBeouf. The good news:  those assault and harassment charges from a January altercation in NYC have been dropped. The bad news: his latest movies sold only one ticket at the UK box office.

–Drake not only saved the British series Top Boy from cancellation by buying the rights, but now he plans to star in it!

-Netflix’s first teaser for The Defenders dropped, as did the show’s release date: August 18.

-Marvel’s VP blamed women and diversity for their comic book sales slump and not the fact that, I don’t know, they turned beloved superheroes into Nazis.

–No, Kendall Jenner. Just…no.

–Mel B requested a restraining order against her estranged husband, and her allegations of his abusive behaviour are terrifying.

-In a new essay, the creator of Smash details her firing and the amount of rampant misogyny in typical TV writers rooms. “The guys would sit around and pitch stories, and then write everything down in great detail on little white cards. Whenever a scene with female characters showed up they would write a card that said, “girl scene here.’ ”

-So Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx are still a thing, huh?

-I really like this piece on how Ghost in the Shell proves that Hollywood should listen to Twitter once in a while. Same could have been said about Iron Fist.

-The creator and designer of Daria drew what the characters would look like today.

–Aubrey Plaza obsesses over Elizabeth Olsen in the red-band trailer for Ingrid Goes West, which got raves at Sundance.

-Congrats to OITNB’s Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli, who are officially married! (I’ve got nothing but love for any wedding outfit that includes a cape.)

–Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were looking very cosy with the fam this weekend.

-This article wondering why male critics are so baffled by Big Little Lies is asking all the right questions.

-Speaking of BLL, Shailene Woodley will have one year probation for her pipeline protest, but she still encourages people to take a stand.

–This photo made me feel really bad for Justin Bieber.

-And this video made me feel really bad for Selena Gomez.

-I assumed Aaron Sorkin‘s comments in which he appeared to be unaware of Hollywood’s diversity problem were sarcastic, but then I remembered this. And this. So yeah, he just sucks. It’s crazy that someone who writes the most self-aware characters has none of that self-awareness himself.

–Katey Sagal opened up about welcoming her ‘beautiful miracle’ Esme via surrogate when she was too old to carry a child.

-CHIPS may be a flop, but it’s the latest reminder that Michael Peña is a Hollywood unicorn that should be protected at all costs.

-Tired of police destroying evidence of your sexual assault? Tatiana Maslany introduces the Sexual Assault Survivor’s Utility Belt!

-Dammit, Fallon, Migos, The Roots, and classroom instruments might actually make me like “Bad and Boujee.” I resisted for so long!!

-One Direction’s Liam Payne is a dad now.

-It’s stupid that they didn’t release the full Red Nose Day Love Actually scene on iTunes in North America and raise a ton for charity. No one is waiting two months to watch it on NBC.

-Speaking of Red Nose Day, James Corden and Take That were very cute.

-I am very glad Bravo Canada has picked up The Handmaid’s Tale. Yay!

–Terrence Howard now says being abusive is not part of his history. Wait, we can do that??! In that case, I most certainly did not take belly-dancing for a year and end up at a recital wearing nothing but undergarments and a sheer skirt….

-Between David Milch joining True Detective’s third season, and Katie Cassidy returning to Arrow as a regular,  I literally don’t understand any of today’s TV announcements.

-The Justice League trailer is here, and it’s kind of a mess.

Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man universe won’t be connected to the MCU. But wasn’t he introduced in the last Captain America movie? Ugh, so confusing. At least the new trailer is cute.
