Arrow Bows Out with EW Cover

Arrow EW stephen amell caity lotz grant gustin

-I’ve given up on most of the Arrowverse shows, but good on EW for finally giving them a cover (the first monthly issue since they dropped the weekly format) in honor of Arrow’s final, shortened season.  Amell looks hella tired though.

Tom Holland was spotted looking cozy with a girl who is NOT Zendaya and we’re all a little bit heartbroken.

-Ok, critics who’ve seen Veronica Mars’ new season keep warning about the “gutting” ending and I’m getting really worried. The latest is from Vulture: “It’s worth noting that some of the season’s concluding events will make some viewers, very, very, very mad. Really, incandescently mad.”

-Gossip Girl is coming back! An update just landed a straight-to-series order at Warner’s new streaming platform HBO Max, with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage returning as EPs. It’ll be interesting to see how it’ll work with today’s social media. Will the new GG be more like a Diet Prada or Shade Room?

-I don’t even watch The Bachelorette but this recap is great.

-In advance of Friday’s trailer, the Cats movie released a featurette starring Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Rebel Wilson and more. I’m still not entirely convinced this whole movie isn’t a prank. Between director Tom Hopper talking about how it’s a “timely story about diversity and inclusion” and James Corden saying “These are people but they’re cats. This is kind of blowing my mind,” it definitely feels like a prank.

-Time has named the 25 most influential people on the internet.

-This thread of Fleabag scenes makes me want to rewatch it even though I JUST DID.

R. Kelly pleaded not guilty to new federal charges and has been denied bail. The singer faces 18 combined charges for alleged crimes against 10 victims.

-Prosecutors have dropped Kevin Spacey‘s criminal sexual assault case due to his accuser’s “unavailability.”

-HBO didn’t submit Gwendoline Christie for an Emmy so she paid the $225 fee, submitted herself and got a nomination, which is the most Brienne thing ever.

-Wait, Mr. Robot is still on TV??!

-Two months after NBC canceled A.P. Bio, the sitcom has been revived — on NBCUniversal’s forthcoming streaming service.

-The first trailer for Hustling, starring Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles, Lizzo and Cardi B, has arrived. Inject this directly into my eyeballs please!!! (Also, if you’ve never read The Cut article that this movie is based on, it’s a wild ride.)

Idris Elba’s Sexiness Confirmed

Idris Elba Is PEOPLE s Sexiest Man Alive 2018

Idris Elba has been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive. I was bracing for Bradley Cooper so this is a pleasant surprise — and a nice recovery from last year’s Blake Shelton disaster.

-Celebs got into the voting spirit today — most notably Beyonce is repping for Beto and Taylor Swift made a rare Instagram appearance urging people to the polls.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s custody court date has been set for Dec 4, so watch for them to spend the next month subtly shading each other in the press.

Zayn Malik says he left One Direction without any lifelong friendships: “I ain’t spoke to any of them for a long time, to be honest with you. That’s just the way it is. There’s things that happen and things that were said after I left… Snide things. Small things that I would never have expected.”

John Stamos needs to learn that not all stories should be told out loud.

Meghan Markle‘s family drama reportedly helped bring her even closer to Prince Charles, so at least something good came out of that mess.

-I really enjoyed this piece on Dlisted’s Michael K and the diluting of celebrity gossip sites as bloggers bring on other writers. (Speaking of celeb sites, this series on what really happened to the Superficial is a fascinating read.)

Danai Gurira, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride are currently negotiating “groundbreaking multiple-year ‘franchise/universe’ deals” that mean if their characters get written off or moved to another Walking Dead property, they’ll still get paid. It also looks like Gurira will take over as the lead of the show, which makes way more sense than Reedus (unless everything’s changed since I last watched and his character says more than 4 words in every episode).

Ariana Grande‘s exes seem ok with her mentioning them in her breakup song. Pete Davidson reportedly didn’t get an advanced listen, but as soon as he heard it he asked Lorne Michael’s permission to address their relationship on SNL.

-It took way, way too long, but Rebel Wilson has finally apologized for her comments and for blocking people who called her out on it.

-Here’s a clip from Shoplifters — one of the best movies I’ve seen this year.

Matthew Rhys and Jamie Dornan star in the trailer for the new BBC show Death in Nightingales. Please, somebody air this here!

The Spice Girls Announce Reunion Tour

-5 become 4: The Spice Girls (minus Victoria Beckham) announced today they are reuniting for a UK tour. Beckham wished her former bandmates well on Instagram— while making it clear she wouldn’t be joining them.

Camila Cabello and Ariana Grande bonded over their ponytail pain. I seriously don’t know how Grande wears one all the time without carrying around an Advil IV bag…

-This clip of Julia Roberts telling Gwyneth Paltrow to “shut your f*cking face” makes me kind of want to listen to their GOOP podcast now. I’ll just have to settle for her telling Busy Phillips to “shut the f*ck up, sit the f*ck down, dry your tears!”

-I gave up on The Walking Dead a long time ago but people are PISSED about its latest fake-out. Why kill off a white dude when you can give him a 3-movie deal instead?! (That’s exactly how they treated the female lead of Fear The Walking Dead except, you know, not at all.)

-Meanwhile, Andrew Lincoln is still bitter about the way the show treated Steven Yeun.

Rihanna wasn’t happy to learn that Trump was using her song at his rallies.

-This is good news: Demi Lovato was spotted in LA post-rehab looking happy and healthy.

-Yikes. CBS just fired the showrunner on Nina Dobrev‘s new sitcom for using “inappropriate language in the workplace.”

Kenan Thompson wasn’t happy with Pete Davidson’s joke about Dan Crenshaw during this weekend’s SNL.

-Meanwhile, I’m not sure about Davidson’s speech about Ariana Grande at the end of his Weekend Update segment. I’ll probably appreciate it more once I’m convinced he’ll stop making jokes about their relationship.

-Man, Rebel Wilson is mis-handling this thing in every way possible. Instead of just eating some humble pie and saying she misspoke, she is blocking black critics of her comments.

-No cast on TV is currently having as much fun as Legends of Tomorrow’s and you’ll never convince me otherwise.

-I don’t know why I’m surprised that Lindsay Lohan showed up at the EMAs last night, but I am.

-I liked what Jon Stewart had to say about making a change when he realized he didn’t have any women on The Daily Show’s writing staff: “There was an article about us [that] said it was a sexist environment, we didn’t have women writers. And I got very offended by that. I was very mad. I was like, ‘Are you saying I’m not a feminist?’ I was raised by a single mother…And I went back to the writers room, and I was like, “You believe this, Steve? What do you think, Greg? Dave? Tom? Mike?” And then I was like, Oooohhh. And it was right…We had put in a system of getting writers where there were no names on it. We thought that’s color-blind, gender-blind, et cetera. But what you don’t realize is the system itself — the tributaries that feed us those submissions — is polluted itself.”

-Broad City creator Abbi Jacobson talked about the time she had to explain to a guest actor why his “compliment” to Ilana Glazer about her body was not OK.

-I don’t get why everyone freaked out about this Britney Spears IG post and she deleted it? It looks just like a million other posts on my feed about people messing with Snap filters.

-Is there anything the world needs less than a movie from The Chainsmokers?

-You’re The Worst just got a premiere date and trailer. Yay! I kind of forgot this show exists but I’m totally here for its final season.
