Adam Brody Reminisces about The OC

Adam Brody was a guest on the latest episode of the OC recap podcast, and the entire conversation is a delight. He and ex-girlfriend Rachel Bilson reminisce about the show, analyze Seth Cohen’s legacy, and argue about whether or not he costarred with her in Jumper. They were supposed to recap the third season episode “The Strip” but they talked so much they had to split it into two episodes.

-Everyone is still trying to make Chris Evans and Selena Gomez happen. Unsubscribe.

-The Crown is set to defy the express wishes of Prince William in its upcoming season by including a dramatized version of Princess Diana‘s interview with Martin Bashir. As it is believed the Netflix drama will recreate the infamous moment she tells the BBC ‘there were three of us in this marriage.’

-A “live” round was used in the gun that killed Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department and the Santa Fe County District Attorney said in a press conference today. They added that it’s too early to determine whether charges would be filed.

-Rust’ armorer told investigators that live ammunition was not used on the set, while the first assistant director told investigators that he did not check all three rounds in a handgun before giving it to Alec Baldwin and declaring it a “cold gun.” He acknowledged he should have done so.

-There’s been a lot of talk about the inexperienced crew/below the line workers on the set of Rust, but I think this article is the first I’ve seen to put more blame (rightly) on the producers.

Ioan Gruffudd‘s split from wife Alice Evans continues to be messy. Just as he went Instagram official with his new girlfriend, she’s accusing him of a three-year affair.

Skeet Ulrich initially thought Matthew Lillard and Jamie Kennedy were ruining Scream by improving jokes. “[I was] like, ‘This isn’t funny. This isn’t supposed to be funny.’ And man, was I wrong.”

Tom Holland says that he can’t wait for people to see one particular scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home. “It’s one of the coolest scenes I’ve ever shot… it’s four people sitting at a table, having a conversation about what it’s like to be a superhero, and it was amazing.” It’s got to be with all the other actors who played Peter Parker who are rumoured to appear, right?

Britney Spears‘ fiancé Sam Asghari has been cast in an action movie alongside (ugh) Mel Gibson.

Kevin Hart takes a dramatic turn in Netflix’s upcoming seven-episode drama Matter of Life and Death, costarring Wesley Snipes. Watch the first trailer here.

-A new trailer for House Of Gucci shows Lady Gaga meeting Adam Driver. Oh my god, these accents!

-A new Wheel of Time trailer has dropped. GQ recently did a huge profile on the new Amazon show, and the scale and expense of this thing is insane. (The piece also does a good job of capturing the actors’ dawning realization that if this turns in to the next Game of Thrones like Jeff Bezos wants it to, they could be filming in Prague for the next 5-10 years.)

Chris Evans voices the original Buzz Lightyear in Pixar’s upcoming Lightyear movie (though he only says the word “and” in the trailer). Director Angus MacLane told Entertainment Weekly to not think of Lightyear as being set in the world of Toy Story. “It’s a straightforward sci-fi action film about the Buzz Lightyear character…It’s that character but as the space ranger, not as the toy.” Is it just me, or is that a fundamental misunderstanding about what audiences want to see of these characters?

Katy Perry: Motherhood Healed “Pain in My Heart”

-I didn’t even recognize Katy Perry on the cover of L’OFFICIEL. She talked about how her life has changed since she welcomed her daughter Daisy. “As a performer I’ve always relied on the love and acceptance and validation of the outside world and that ultimately can waver at times. When you have a child, you have someone who looks at you and doesn’t know anything on your resume, doesn’t know anything about your bank account, doesn’t know anything, doesn’t care, and just loves you. Unconditional love. It’s just…everything I think I was looking for.”

-I love that Nicholas Braun landed a British GQ cover. Sadly, he wasn’t asked about DeuxMoi’s obsession with his sex life.

Taylor Swift is going to try to shake off the Cats stink with another swing at acting. She’s joined the cast of David O. Russell’s next film, starring alongside Christian Bale and Margot Robbie.

Kate Winslet was interviewed by Maureen Dowd for the NYT, and her reaction to the rapid fire round is hilarious. When asked about following Bennifer news she replied “What? No! I’ve never read about Jennifer in my life. What are these questions?”

-She also talked about insisting on being unglamorous for Mare of Easttown, and says she disapproved the promotional poster twice because she was too retouched. “They were like ‘Kate, really, you can’t,’ and I’m like ‘Guys, I know how many lines I have by the side of my eye, please put them all back.’… I guess that’s why people have connected with this character in the way that they have done because there are clearly no filters. She’s a fully functioning, flawed woman with a body and a face that moves in a way that is synonymous with her age and her life and where she comes from. I think we’re starved of that a bit.”

-The Amell cousins are returning for a Code 8 sequel. Hopefully they can pay for it themselves this time.

Julianne Hough’s teen niece posted a TikTok saying “My aunt has slept with Leonardo DiCaprio. Apparently, he’s not good in bed, though.” She didn’t mention if he wore headphones, though.

-The Friends cast received at least $2.5 million each to appear in the special.

-In their latest podcast, Rachel Bilson and Melinda Clarke spoke about Mischa Barton’s recent comments on her poor treatment during the filming of The O.C. “Where is she going with this and what is she trying to say? I would actually like to talk to her and find out what her experience was from her perspective, because I saw things a little differently.”

Martin Freeman called method acting “the most self-aggrandizing, selfish, narcissistic f**king bollocks I have ever seen.” My favourite method acting story when Dustin Hoffman told Laurence Olivier that he hadn’t slept because he was filming a scene where his character was up for three days straight, and Olivier replied “Why don’t you just try acting?”

Kelly Osbourne appeared on Red Table Talk and discussed her relapse during the pandemic after 4 years of sobriety.

-Congrats to Lance Bass, who’s expecting twins with his hubby.

-Broad City’s Ilana Glazer stars in the new pregnancy horror film False Positive.

Ariana Grande revealed that she would join The Voice for season 21.

Jennifer Love Hewitt gave an in-depth interview to Vulture about the making of Heartbreakers, and opened up about her uncomfortable experience constantly fielding questions about her body as a young actress. “For some reason, in my brain, I was able to just go, ‘OK, well, I guess they wouldn’t be asking if it was inappropriate.’ It really started with I Know What You Did Last Summer because that was the first time that I had worn a low top. I remember purposely wearing a T-shirt that said ‘Silicone Free’ [to a press junket] because I was so annoyed, and I knew something about boobs was gonna be the first question out of [reporters’] mouths.”

-Real Housewives of SLC star Jen Shah and her assistant have been arrested and indicted by a federal grand jury on fraud charges. According to the indictment, they allegedly used telemarketing to target and defraud “hundreds of victims…many of whom were over age 55.”

-Alabama Shakes drummer Steven William Johnson is accused of child abuse. He was arrested Wednesday on charges of willful torture, willful abuse and cruelly beating or otherwise willfully maltreating a child under the age of 18.

-My Turkish soap heartthrob Can Yaman is on the cover of Vanity Fair Italia and I’m weirdly proud of him.

Addison Rae responded to the backlash over her and Jimmy Fallon not crediting the mostly Black creators of the TikTok dances that they danced to on last Friday’s Tonight Show. “It’s kind of hard to credit during the show. Hopefully we can all reach out and dance together.”

-In her Goop podcast with Gabrielle Union, Gwyneth Paltrow talked about becoming a stepmom. “When I knew I was going to become a stepmother, I was like, ‘S–t, I have no idea how to do this. There’s nothing to read. What do I do? Where do I step in? Where do I not? How do I do this?'”

Harry Styles, Dakota Johnson, Sienna Miller, Diane Keaton, Awkwafina, Serena Williams and James Corden will all be in Gucci’s new handbag campaign.

Rachel Bilson says Mr Robot’s Rami Malek asked her to take down a high school photo she posted of them. “I don’t usually check my DM’s on my Instagram…maybe a week goes by and I actually look and I have a message from Rami. But it wasn’t like, ‘Hey! How are you?!’ It was straight to: ‘I would really appreciate if you take that down. I’m a really private person.’ I was like, ‘Oh, sh-t! OK.’ I get really hot and start sweating. I’m all nervous, like, ‘Oh god! What did I do?’ He was a really good friend, it’s a funny picture…you know? I don’t take myself that seriously.”

-Starz has cancelled American Gods after three seasons.

-I don’t want to watch The Flash again, but Jordan Fisher joining the cast has me tempted.

-People are over Grey’s Anatomy beach scenes. At least Ellen Pompeo is getting a break.

-Here’s the final trailer for the delayed Spiral: From The Book Of Saw starring Chris Rock (who also serves as executive producer and came up with the premise).

-Here’s the latest trailer for Shadow and Bone. I’m on book three and I’m really hoping my library hold for the Six of Crows comes in before this drops on Netflix on April 23.
