Angelina Jolie Dodges Questions about The Weeknd

-This is a valiant effort by E! News, but Angelina Jolie is staying mum about her relationship with The Weeknd. When asked whether her children were more excited by her role in Eternals or by her friendship with singer, she replied: “They’re very excited about this film… If that’s what you’re asking.”

-A new analysis of tweets about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has revealed a coordinated campaign of targeted harassment of Markle on Twitter — and only 83 accounts were responsible for approximately 70% of the negative and often hateful content. And those 83 accounts aren’t just run by bots and trolls: “This campaign comes from people who know how to manipulate the algorithms, manipulate Twitter, stay under the wire to avoid detection and suspension. This level of complexity comes from people who know how to do this stuff, who are paid to do this stuff.”

Jon Stewart stood up for his pal Dave Chappelle, saying “I know his intention is never hurtful. He’s not that kinda person.” Which completely misses the point.

-One of the cast members on Rust talked to TMZ about feeling like the camera was more protected than the actors on the shoot.

-TMZ is also reporting that the gun was used by crews members off set as well, for what amounted to target practice. Which is a big no-no, according to safety experts.

-Meanwhile, the film’s 24-year-old armorer was reportedly the subject of numerous complaints on her previous film just two months earlier, and was yelled at by Nicolas Cage for firing without warning him about the noise first, according to a crew member.

-Succession has already been renewed by HBO for season 4.  Thank god.

Penn Badgley is aware that Cardi B wants to appear on the next season of You, but can’t confirm or deny her involvement. “I mean, I definitely can’t say, but there is actually, I believe, this is true, there’s an actual Change.org petition. Changing the world!”

Emma Kenney, who played Debbie on Shameless, wasn’t sad to see leading lady Emmy Rossum leave the show in 2019, saying “the set became more of a positive place” after she left. “I remember pre her leaving, I’d go to set some days and I’d be very anxious having a scene with her because if she had a bad day, she made it a bad day for everybody.” I swear, as soon as a long running show ends, someone on the cast should be required to write a tell-all about all the on-set tensions. It would immediately become the best-selling genre in publishing.

Netflix has reinstated a trans software engineer who spoke out against Dave Chappelle‘s latest comedy special, along with two other employees. The streamer originally said they suspended them for trying to join a Zoom of an executive meeting, but later found that a director had shared the meeting link. “Netflix has reinstated me after finding that there was no ill-intent in my attending the QBR meeting,” she tweeted, adding, “I’m going to take a few days off to decompress and try to figure out where I’m at. At the very least, I feel vindicated.”

-Despite the reinstatement of three employees, a trans employee resource group at Netflix is moving ahead with plans for a walkout on Oct. 20 in response to Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos defense of the special.

Adele has confirmed that her new album will be called 30 and will drop Nov 19, calling it “my ride or die throughout the most turbulent period of my life. When I was writing it, it was my friend who came over with a bottle of wine and a takeaway to cheer me up. My wise friend who always gives the best advice.”

Raven-Symone says that when she was asked to join The View, they promised her the topics were moving away from political discussions. “I got catfished. I feel like I just got catfished. I thought I was going on a show, like Candace [Cameron Bure], where it was pop culture and fun and exciting and I got catfished, and I learned a good lesson.” Bure also said she was “pitched a completely different direction” than the show actually went.

-I haven’t really been following the drama created by ex-Little Mix member Jesy Nelson, but this is clearly offensive.

-Just two days before You drops its third season, Netflix has already renewed the Penn Badgley thriller for season 4.

-A new trailer dropped for  The Sex Lives of College Girls, a new HBO Max comedy from Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble.

-Here’s the trailer for The Beatles: Get Back, Disney+’s original docuseries, directed by Peter Jackson. The three-part special uses restored footage was gathered from the band’s January 1969 recording session and final live performance in London.

-Time’s 100 Influential People issue has arrived, and among those honoured are Prince Harry and Megan Markle. In his tribute to them, chef and activist José Andrés writes, “In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the duke and duchess have compassion for the people they don’t know. They don’t just opine. They run toward the struggle.”

Angelina Jolie visited the White House today to meet with officials from the Justice Department to discuss reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act.

Drew Barrymore hosted a Never Been Kiss cast reunion on her show, and it was all kinds of cute. Michael Vartan remembered getting a little too into their kissing scene.

Cameron Diaz also appeared on Drew‘s show and offered dating advice.

Octavia Spencer said she reached out to Britney Spears and Sam Asghari to apologize for her “get a prenup” comment.

-It looks like Britney is taking her advice anyway and working on a prenup. Thank heavens.
