Jennifer Lopez Gets Naked For Her New Song

Jennifer Lopez showed off the cover art for her latest single, and it’s a pic of her in the buff shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. I didn’t think singles got the cover art treatment, but if I looked like this I guess I’d be looking for any excuse, too.

The Weeknd called the Grammys out for his nomination shut out (and Nicki Minaj backed him up). There’s some speculation that the Grammys wanted him to perform on their show and not the Super Bowl Halftime Show, which airs just a week later, but the Academy CEO insists that’s not the case.

Chris Evans posted a video of himself playing piano while wearing a chunky sweater. Vulture says he’s “adopting the persona of a jock who’s having an emotional crisis in the third act of a high-school movie” but I’m not complaining.

-In a deeply personal NYT op-ed, Meghan Markle revealed she suffered a miscarriage in July. Not only is her op-ed incredibly moving, it helps to break down the stigma surrounding talking about miscarriages. I didn’t realize until I started doing some social media work for a fertility clinic that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. That’s an insane stat, and people rarely talk about it. Besides it being very well-written, I also liked how her essay clearly positions her as a hands-on mom, with all the talk of diaper changes and picking up crayons and socks.

Christina Perri also revealed she and husband have lost their baby girl in a stillbirth.

Prince Charles and Camilla both deactivated the replies on their tweets, and there’s speculation it’s because of the heat they’re getting from their depiction on this season of The Crown. The show truly has given up on engendering any audience sympathy for him in these new episodes.

-Cdn gossip columnist Shinan Govani tweeted about the Jessica Mulroney story in Page Six, and just now tweeted an apology to her “as requested“. Well.

-The NYT’s list of the 25 greatest actors of the 21st century (so far) caused a bit of debate on Twitter. There are certainly some snubs but I like how diverse it is. I especially appreciate the callout for Melissa McCarthy in Spy.

Timothée Chalamet, Jason Bateman and Kristen Wiig are set to host the remaining SNL episodes of the year. Morgan Wallen will also get a second chance at being a musical guest.

-The cast of the 90210 reboot got together to reminisce about their behind-the-scenes dramaAnnaLynne McCord admitted to the rumoured tension with Shenae Grimes Beech: “I wanted to strangle that chick. I’m so grateful that in the last 24 hours of [shooting] 90210, Shenae and I fully repaired our relationship issues. I ended up at her wedding in England!”

-As if his album documentary In Wonder on Netflix wasn’t enough, Shawn Mendes surprise-dropped a second film this week — this one a concert film.

-Meanwhile, Shawn shared his view of his Toronto condo in his Netflix film, and the scene is agonizingly familiar to anyone who lives here.

-I follow a lot of romance writers on Twitter for some reason, and what they’ve been doing to mobilize voters in solidarity with Stacey Abrams has been nothing short of remarkable.

-Speaking of people doing good, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have donated $500,000 to Covenant House in Vancouver and Toronto.

-The trailer for the live-action Clifford the Big Red Dog debuted by Paramount Pictures today and everyone is freaked out by how sick the dog looks.

-The trailer for Life In A Year, starring Cara Delevingne and Jaden Smith, has dropped. These “sick-lit” dramas are never going away, huh?

Schitt’s Creek Checks Out

Schitts Creek finale

-I’m not ready for Schitt’s Creek to be over (like, literally — I still have half a season to catch up on), but EW’s cover story with Dan Levy and Noah Reid is beautiful.

Rihanna and Drake were interacting in the comments of DJ Spades’ Instagram Live and when he got too complimentary of her, she wrote “Give Drake some water.” Absolute perfection.

Ariana Grande and her new bf are sheltering-in-place together.  TMZ calls him “a high end real estate agent who handles multi-million dollar listings for L.A.’s A-list buyers” so hopefully he’s found them a good place to hunker down.

-Outlander star Sam Heughan is getting dragged for posting photos from his Hawaii vacation in the middle of a pandemic. Seriously celebrities, just put down your phones. You’re all sucking at this.

Prince Charles has tested positive for covid-19 but is only displaying mild symptoms.

-In other royals news, The Sun continues to stoop low by stirring up rumours about Prince Harry and ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

-Good hometown boy Shawn Mendes is donating $175,000 to Sick Kids in Toronto to assist in purchasing equipment and supplies for coronavirus preparedness.

Kylie Jenner is also stepping up in a big way, donating $1 million to buy PPE.

Ryan Reynolds is donating 30% of his Aviation gin profits to out of work bartenders.

-Meanwhile, Kourtney Kardashian’s 10-year-old son said on Instagram that Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott are not back together — and then his account promptly got shut down because 10-year-olds are not supposed to be on Insta.

-I love that Jennifer Garner keeps shouting out Victor Garber. Spy daddy!

Chrissy Tiegan needed lettuce so she met up with some strangers in a church parking lot and traded cake, wine and banana bread for three heads of romaine. It was incredibly cute.

Maggie Grace responded to Lost costar Evangeline Lilly‘s Instagram post and whew, the shade!

-Here’s a bit of brightness in our current sea of suck: Bindy Irwin got married.

-I had never heard of Netflix’s new documentary Tiger King a couple of days ago, and now it’s EVERYWHERE. People are obsessed. I have to watch this thing, don’t I?

-The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln serenaded Danai Gurira to celebrate her last episode.

-While talking to Variety, novelist and showrunner Michael Chabon went off on a tangent about what he originally wanted Picard to be like, and as someone who has given up on that show, oh how I wish he’d have stuck with it: “I always said if we could have just done a whole show about Picard and the dog on the vineyard in France, with no starships, no phasers, the only Romulans would be those two Romulans who work for him on the vineyard, and no politics — just, like, there’s a funfair down in the village and they all go, and maybe Picard solves a very low stakes mystery in the village, like, someone has stolen the antique bell out of the bell tower, or something like that?”

Chris Evans plays a man trying to shield his son from a murder rap in the trailer for Apple TV+’s upcoming show Defending Jacob.

Florence Pugh’s Streak Continues

florence-pugh-vogue

-I feel like I have Florence Pugh face blindness. I’ve seen her in Midsommar, Fighting with My Family and Little Women, but I still don’t know that I could pick her out of a lineup. Regardless, her Vogue spread is very good.

-Now that the dust is starting to settle, the Evening Standard has a timeline of how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s announcement reportedly went down. Harry originally contacted Prince Charles about spending more time in Canada and America just before Christmas, but was told he needed to come up with a thought-out plan. He was then told the Queen would meet with him, but “would not discuss his wishlist before he had discussed it in detail with his father.” But then that meeting was blocked by courtiers. Prince Charles and Prince William were only sent a copy of Harry and Meghan’s statement “10 minutes” before it was released.

-According to Lainey, there’s an implication that Harry and Meghan rushed the announcement it to get ahead of The Sun’s story — which was broken by a reporter who happens to be good friends with Will and Kate’s press secretary. 👀

The Mirror claims Will is “incandescent with rage,” while the Daily Mail claims Harry has been locked in four-way conference call with the Queen, Charles, and Will as they try to find “workable future role within days.”

-I kind of love that the couple’s new website was made by a Toronto agency (which might explain how they were able to keep it under wraps from the family).

-This is surprising to me: according to People, when Harry and Meghan returned to London this week, Archie remained in Canada. “It is believed that Archie stayed with Meghan’s close pal, Jessica Mulroney.”

-It was a very good day for news to come out that the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall was banned from driving for speeding.

-Yesterday was the perfect day for celebrities to slide some news under the radar, so I’m surprised there wasn’t a wave of divorce announcements. The only one I saw was from Arrow’s Katie Cassidy, who split from her husband after just 13 months of marriage. (Weirdly because I follow all of them on IG, it seems like all three actresses who’ve played Canary are going through major splits with their SOs right now.)

-At Wednesday night’s National Board of Review gala, Bradley Cooper presented Brad Pitt with the Best Supporting Actor award and in his acceptance speech, Pitt credited Cooper for helping him get sober. “I got sober because of this guy, and every day’s been happier ever since.” Pitt also brought the jokes, quipping, “It’s nice to be able to leave this thing carrying something other than George Clooney.”

Pitt also did a video interview for W, in which he reminisces on his prom and first kiss (“Her name was Lisa. It was in her garage. It was in fourth grade. She was one street over. I ran home afterwards. It was just too much.”)

-Kids teaching their famous parents how to use TikTok is my fave new thing. Me next, please.

-It’s really something to see Kristen Stewart this relaxed and actually having fun while doing movie promo. She’s grown so much.

-I adore Jane Austen and will consume everything related to her, but Sanditon, which starts Sunday on PBS, is a tough hang for me — just because the ending is so very non-Austen-y. The reviews are glowing, though.

Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston‘s table ran out of beverages at the Globes, so Reese asked Beyonce for some champagne. That is some Madeline energy right there.

Tiffany Haddish said she first took a meeting with Like a Boss costar Rose Byrne at a hotel bar when she noticed two gay men. “I start hitting on them and once I get a little drink in me, I want to, you know, donate my womb. I was like ‘If y’all want to have a baby, let me know. I’ll pay child support. Y’all can raise it. I’ll carry it and I’ll breastfeed it for six months and it’s all yours.’ Rose was like, ‘No, Tiffany. You can’t do this. You need to go to your room.’ That’s when I knew we’d be friends forever. She protected my womb.”

Mae Whitman posted a Parenthood reunion pic and I felt it with my whole heart.

-The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina released a music video to promote the new season and it’s … something.

-The Television Critics Association panels are happening this week, and FX CEO John Landgraf did his annual #PeakTV report, revealing scripted originals grew 7 percent in 2019 and set a record — topping 500 show in a year for the first time.

-FX also announced that Atlanta will get an expanded order — but won’t air until 2021.

-They also revealed trailers for two of the year’s most anticipated new shows: Devs, from Alex Garland, writer/director of Ex Machina and Annihilation, which stars Nick Offerman and Sonoya Mizuno, and follows a computer developer investigating a quantum computing company that she believes is responsible for the disappearance of her boyfriend; and Mrs. America, starring Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Tracey Ullman, Rose Byrne, Uzo Aduba, Margo Martindale, Elizabeth Banks and John Slattery.

Bong Joon Ho‘s Parasite is heading to HBO as a limited series. I adored that movie and this seems like a very bad idea.

-I’ve been sort of following the drama in Romancelandia because it’s all over my TL, but this is big. Romance Writers of America president has resigned (finally!) after publishers Harlequin, Berkley, Kensington, Avon, and St. Martins all pulled out of the RWA national conference. (This is a good recap of what initially went down, although the RWA has continued to handle it all horribly since then.)

-I’ve been feeling superhero fatigue (both from movies and TV) for a while now, but goddamn the new Birds of Prey trailer is good. Goddamn.
