Jada Pinkett Smith Confirms Affair with August Alsina

–Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith sat down to talk about their marriage in the latest episode of Red Table Talk, in which she confirmed she had an “entanglement” with August Alsina. She said it was about 4.5 years ago, when she and Smith were secretly separated.

–Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers announced the end of their 10 year marriage via a pair of identical Instagram posts Friday afternoon, writing “Thirteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners and then parents. It has been an incredible journey, but together, we’ve decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage. As we enter into this next chapter, our children and relationship as co-parents and dear friends will remain our priority. We understand this news lends itself to public dialogue, but in the interest of our children and our family, we’re asking for privacy, compassion and love during this time.” The couple, who have two kids, had been spending their quarantine in the Cayman Islands, but he was been spotted in LA this week.

-We’ve now entered the “who shit on the bed?” portion of the Johnny Depp trial.

-In an interview, SNL’s Colin Jost was asked about his costars and said “Kate McKinnon loves books, and before she was on SNL, she was a ghostwriter for a number of YA fantasy series.” I need to know which books!!

-Roswell New Mexico’s showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie has left the series ahead of its third season. According to THR, she had tension with lead actress Jeanine Mason, spent an unusual amount of time on the set in New Mexico instead of in the writers room in LA, and recently angered WBTV by calling out British broadcaster ITV on Twitter for editing a gay love scene. In her Instagram post, she said she’s leaving “due to fundamental differences” and denied reports of tension with the cast or writers. Interestingly, Roswell actors Lily Cowles, Michael Vlamis, Tyler Blackburn and Heather Hemmens all commented on her post with messages of support, but Mason has not (yet).

-HBO Max has ordered a new show set in the same city as Robert Pattinson‘s The Batman that will focus on the Gotham police. Isn’t this…the show Gotham?

-Terrible: Glee’s Naya Rivera is now presumed dead after the search shifted from a rescue to a recovery mission.

–Sarah Paulson was asked about her working relationship with Lea Michele on Watch What Happens Live! and very politely refused to answer the question (it’s around the 5 min mark).

-In his final performance, Carl Reiner appeared in the last scene of Jason Reitman‘s version of The Princess Bride. I cancelled my Quibi subscription before I got to the end but the clip in this article made me teary.

–Charlize Theron‘s The Old Guard, which hits Netflix today, is getting mostly great reviews.

-There’s a new trailer for Zac Efron’s Netflix show. and the internet is loving his new Daddy energy.

-Here’s the first clip for 30 Rock’s reunion episode, (which is doubling as NBC’s upfronts presentation), airing Thursday.

–Andy Samberg is the latest celeb to do a backyard photoshoot, this time for GQ to promote the buzzy, incredibly well-reviewed time-loop romcom Palm Springs (currently at 99% fresh on RottenTomatoes), which hits Hulu starting tomorrow but still does not have a Canadian distributor. Poop.

-God, the tragic legacy of the Glee cast continues. Naya Rivera is still missing and presumed drowned after she rented a boat yesterday with her four-year-old son on Lake Piru in Southern California. Her son, thankfully, is fine.

-This clip of her singing “If I Die Young” in Glee’s Cory Monteith/Finn tribute episode broke me.

-Day three of his libel trial in London saw Johnny Depp trying out some local slang, accusing Amber Heard of telling “porky pies” about him to a psychiatrist.

–Cameron Diaz may be done with acting, but she’s not done with making money. She just launched a new “clean” wine label.

-Her Charlie’s Angels costar Drew Barrymore covers the new issue of InStyle.

–Chris Evans and Lily James are at the ‘blissfully eating ice cream at the park‘ stage of their relationship.

–Michelle Williams and Oscar Isaac are set to star in a limited series for HBO call Scenes From a Marriage. This sounds like it was fantasy cast from my brain.

-The Crown is extending its run at Netflix and will now end at Season 6. So there’ll be one more season with Olivia Colman as the Queen before she passes the crown to Imelda Staunton.

-Netflix just put the chill on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, cancelling it after this season.

-The CW announced Javicia Leslie will be the new Batwoman. Leslie, who identifies as bi-sexual, will be the first Black actor to play the superhero role in a live-action  production. I still think it’s weird that their creating a whole new character, but I love this casting!

–Taffy Brodesser-Akner wrote a pandemic-centric short story sequel to Fleishman Is In Trouble, my fave book from last year.

-Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has secretly shot a movie during the pandemic with Zendaya and John David Washington called Malcolm & Marie. They used a small crew, shut off air conditioning, tested the cast and crew multiple times, and quarantined for two weeks before shooting.

-Trans TV critic Emily VanDerWerff spent the last two days getting harassed, sent death/rape threats, and had people trying to “cancel” her for expressing her opinion on the Harper’s Bazaar letter. If the signatories of a letter were really for “open debate” and against “cancel culture,” wouldn’t they be speaking up right now? It’s been mostly crickets — and a couple of them are even actively going after her. (Or blaming others for going after her worse.)

-Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner is developing a new series for FX. Tell me again about people being cancelled in Hollywood.

-Lady A, formerly known as Lady Antebellum, is suing blues singer Anita “Lady A” White, which makes their whole name change seem rather performative.

–Colin Jost is blaming Scarlett Johansson for that conspicuously placed guitar during his Weekend Update at Home segment.

-Now that Quibi’s 3-month free trial has ended, only 8% of their subscribers is estimated to have signed on to be paying customers. Ouch.

-Wow, Simone Biles’ Vogue cover is stunning.

–Jim Carrey wrote a novel — and he filled it with celebrity cameos.

-New Girl’s Lamorne Morris gets Woke in the trailer for Hulu’s upcoming 8-episode comedy series.

Say a Little Prayer for EW’s My Best Friend’s Wedding Reunion

-I gave up on my EW subscription last year because I never had time to read it (plus it was weirdly expensive?) but I’ll definitely be picking up the print edition of their romcom issue. Every article they’ve released from it so far has been great, but the My Best Friend’s Wedding cover seals the deal. I recently rewatched it and it’s even more problematic than I remember (Kimmy’s a child! Julianne’s a monster!) but this oral history is very fun. I really hope this marks the start of Cameron Diaz’s un-retirement cause I missed her.

-It’s a big day in covers. Newlyweds Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber landed on the March issue of Vogue.  I hate that he’s not wearing a shirt, but it’s completely expected at this point. They talk about working on their marriage (“We’re coming from a really genuine place. But we’re two young people who are learning as we go”), reflect on his past (“my mom was depressed a lot of my life and my dad has anger issues. Stuff that they passed on that I’m kind of mad they gave me”), and talk about Hailey’s stabilizing influence.

-Meanwhile, like many others I will never read about Hailey without thinking of that bit in Caity Weaver’s GQ Bieber profile in which she’s just sitting in his hotel room, doing nothing and waiting for him.

–Michelle Rodriguez says Liam Neeson can’t be racist because of how he passionately frenched Viola Davis in Widows. Um, what now?

-Hollywood is now developing movies based on Reddit threads.

-It looks like Disney+ is shaping up to be a true Netflix competitor, with non-Disney shows streaming, too.

–Chris Pratt seems confident that Disney will use James Gunn’s script for Guardians 3.

–Steve Buscemi has responded to that viral video of Jennifer Lawrence with his face: “It makes me sad.”

-Scrubs star Sam Lloyd (who played Ted the lawyer) hit his fundraising goal in two days after revealing lung & brain cancer diagnosis.

–Seth Meyers got drunk with the Barefoot Contessa. He’s living my dream!!

–Ariana Grande clarified why she dropped out of the Grammys. She called out the show’s producer Ken Ehrlich for “lying about me” when he told the Associated Press that she “felt it was too late for her to pull something together.” Grande tweeted, “I can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. It was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that I decided not to attend.”

-Ariana is all about clearing up rumours today. She’s denying a feud with Nicki Minaj.

–Jennifer Garner talked about being “surrounded by paparazzi” while being married to Ben Affleck.

–Naya Rivera has spoken out about those Lea Michele feud rumours on the Glee set: “I don’t think there was any beef.”

–Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba have a pillow fight in the LA’s Finest trailer.
