Bridgerton Is Coming Back

-Netflix is officially returning to Bridgerton, which has been renewed for a second season. Producers confirmed it’s following the books, which means next season is all going to hang on the casting of Kate (book 2 — and the series’ — best character). Simon is barely in this book, but I have to imagine they’ll beef up his scenes to keep Regé-Jean Page around. And godspeed if they try to adapt the unintentionally hilarious scene in which Kate gets stung by a bee in the chest and her love interest tries to suck the stinger out…

-The Bachelor’s Clare Crawley and Dale Moss’ split has turned messy. There’s been sighting for months of him with other women, and now she’s speaking out about learning of their broken engagement the same time as the rest of the world: “The truth is I am crushed.”

-Six months after filing for divorce, Christina Ricci has filed for a restraining order against her ex-husband James Heerdegen, alleging “severe physical and emotional abuse”, and saying “many of these acts of abuse” took place in front of their son.

–George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer reunited in the latest Actors on Actors video and it was wildly charming. They first met when he was dating her sister! He told a story about being drunk on the set of One Fine Day after a wild night. “I got to the set, and we walked to the trailer and I sat down and you looked at me. You go, ‘What?’ And I was like, ‘I didn’t know we were going to work today.’ And you go, ‘You’re still drunk.’ ”

-Meanwhile, Pfeiffer is making the jump to TV, playing Betty Ford alongside Viola Davis in a Showtime series called The First Lady.

-Maybe Jojo Siwa just likes this song? It is a banger, after all.

–Megan Thee Stallion is setting the record straight after a false report claimed the charges were dropped against rapper Tory Lanez.

–Frances McDormand covers the new issue of Vogue, and I actually looked it up to see if she’s in the new Dune movie because otherwise this cover shoot makes no sense to me. She is not. In any case, she still deserves all the covers!

–Emma Stone is heading to TV. She’ll star in the Safdie brothers’ The Curse, which has been formally ordered to series at Showtime. The series from the Uncut Gems duo is described as a genre-bending comedy that explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of Stone’s character and her husband (Nathan Fielder) as they try to conceive a child.

-Merry Swiftmas! Prolific pop singer Taylor Swift announced this morning that she’s celebrating her birthday by dropping another surprise album tonight. Considering how many folklore songs ended up on my Spotify Wrapped playlist, I’m very much looking forward to this.

-People are convinced that she’s wearing a wedding dress in one of the album’s promo pics.

–Ariana Grande gets teary in the trailer of her Netflix tour docu-film excuse me, i love you, which is set to drop Dec. 21.

–Ryan Reynolds got his mother to on an expletive-laden rant against Chris Hemsworth… but it’s all for charity.

–Jon Bernthal is set to create and star in an Amazon drama called The Bottoms. I’m not even gonna look up what this show is about, because there’s no way it lives up to what I’m imagining in my head.

–Pedro Pascal says his performance in Wonder Woman 1984 was partially inspired by Nicolas Cage. “With Wonder Woman, [Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig] are doing the action, baby, and I’m doing the schm-acting! I am hamming it up!”

–Kelly Clarkson says her estranged husband, who was also her manager, defrauded her out of millions by charging exorbitant fees.

–Ellen Degeneres revealed that she’s tested positive for covid, but so far her symptoms are very mild. The show has paused production until next year.

-Speaking of covid, Chris Evans was photographed doing his own covid swab…which seems weird.

-Dancing With The Stars’ judge Carrie Ann Inaba also tested positive.

-iCarly is being rebooted with the original stars because Hollywood has run out of ideas.

-Whoa. Girls star Allison Williams is going to lead a remake of the Canadian drama Being Erica.

–George Clooney‘s new movie The Midnight Sky is just getting so-so reviews but it’s on Netflix so we’re all going to watch it anyway.

-The French Exit trailer stars Michelle Pfeiffer as an ex-wealthy widow and Lucas Hedges as her son.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Open Up in New Documentary

-The documentary on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry aired in the UK last night, in which Prince Harry was asked about the rift with his brother (“Inevitably stuff happens. But we’re brothers, we’ll always be brothers. We are certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and, as I know, he will always be there for me”) and Meghan admits that a British friend predicted the tabloids would tear her apart (“I really tried to adopt this British sensibility of a stiff upper lip”).

–Jennifer Lawrence tied the knot with Cooke Maroney this weekend in Rhode Island in front of 150 guests, including Adele, Sienna Miller, Cameron Diaz, Nicole Richie, Amy Schumer, Kris Jenner, Emma Stone and Ashley Olsen.

-Do you think this pic of Felicity Huffman in her prison uniform was staged? It had to be, right?

–Miley Cyrus went live on Instagram this weekend with Cody Simpson — and she really shouldn’t have. She told women you don’t have to be gay if you find the right man (“Guys, I was being a little too, like…hard-core feminist vibes and, just like, I don’t know, not allowing anyone in, but now I am. There are good men out there, guys. Don’t give up. You don’t have to be gay. There are good people with dicks out there. You just gotta find them”) and seemed to shade Liam Hemsworth.

–Liam, meanwhile, is making everyone in my city love him.

–Camila Cabello is shutting down rumours that she and Shawn Mendes split. So there!

-Catastrophe’s Rob Delaney talking about how lucky he was to have UK healthcare when his son was dying is heartbreaking and powerful.

-The kid from Shameless that I always thought should be a bigger star than he is (though not big enough that I’m going to look up his real name) just got married. Congrats, kid!

–Dennis Quaid, 65, is engaged to his 26-year-old girlfriend. Swell.

-This video of Jerry O’Connell torturing his kids with mandatory Prince singalongs is the most I’ve liked him since Sliders.

-Production on John Cho‘s new movie has been paused for 7-9 months after the actor injured his knee on set in New Zealand. Protect my precious at all costs!

–Michelle Pfeiffer says she has a #MeToo moment when she was 20 with a “high-powered person.”

-I actually have very little quibbles about TV Guide’s list for the best shows of the 2010s. (And I’m a quibbler!)

-New Girl star Lamorne Morris filmed police handcuffing his friend outside an L.A. nightclub when he then found himself handcuffed — for filming the incident.

-I loved last night’s premiere of The Watchmen. I’m not sure I totally got it, but that was some powerful, challenging stuff.

-The trailer for the final season of Bojack Horseman messed me up, man.
