-Super news! Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood are expecting their first child.

–Natalie Maines is most likely singing about her ex-husband, Heroes star Adrian Pasdar, in the Dixie Chicks‘ new single “Gaslighter.” Sample lyrics include: “We moved to California and we followed your dreams…Hollywood welcomed you with open doors but no matter what they gave you, you still wanted more.”

-Due to the coronavirus, the release of the new James Bond movie No Time to Die, which was supposed to hit theatres next month, will be postponed until November.

–Ronan Farrow said on Tuesday that he would cut ties with his publisher, Hachette Book Group, after they hid from him that they were publishing Woody Allen’s autobiography next month: “It’s wildly unprofessional in multiple obvious directions for Hachette to behave this way. But it also shows a lack of ethics and compassion for victims.” Did they think that the world’s leading investigative journalist wasn’t going to figure it out?

–Drake is getting criticized for calling his baby mama a “fluke” on his new track.

–Jessica Biel celebrated her birthday with hubby Justin Timberlake and posted some pics of it where her ring is very visible.

-The Way Back’s director Gavin O’Connor says the film was in jeopardy when Ben Affleck relapsed just before filming, and Jennifer Garner begged him to not give up on the actor. “He ended up going to rehab, and I didn’t know if the movie was over. The studio certainly thought the movie was over. His ex–wife Jennifer Garner called me up, and told me that when he went to rehab, he took a basketball with him. She said, ‘Gavin, he’s asking you, please don’t pull the plug on the movie, he really wants to do this.'”

-Meanwhile, on Kimmel last night Affleck choked up when explaining how Adam Driver saved his son’s birthday. When the birthday present for his Star Wars obsessed 8-year-old didn’t arrive in time, Driver, Affleck’s costar in The Last Duel, sent a big pile of Kylo Ren merch and signed stuff. “Adam made me a hero to my kid, and I will never, ever, ever forget it.”

-Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere, which stars Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington as clashing mothers, is getting good reviews. I was going to watch it anyway because of Joshua Jackson, but that’s nice.

-Meanwhile, Us Weekly has a story about how Joshua Jackson was “heartbroken” over the end of his decade-long relationship with Diane Kruger before meeting his now-wife, Jodie Turner-Smith. If he’s feeling any residual sadness, I’m available for hugs.

–Britney Spears‘ son Jayden did an Instagram Live yesterday, where he called grandfather Jamie “a pretty big dick,” said he liked his mom’s boyfriend, praised dad Kevin Federline as “literally Jesus”, and said if he gets 5000 Instagram followers he’ll spill more about his family life.

-A nurse becomes obsessed with saving her dying patient’s soul in the trailer for Saint Maud.

–Keri Russell is on the cover of Town & Country and it’s times like this when I think I would for real fight someone if she asked me to.

-In an interview with the LA Times, Camila Cabello stresses the legitimacy of her relationship with Shawn Mendes. “That’s my boyfriend. This is real.”

–Jennifer Garner posted a collage of her reactions when Katie Couric arranged a surprise phone call from film legend Julie Andrews. It’s incredibly charming.

–Vulture has more info on Gabrielle Union‘s firing from America’s Got Talent last Friday. Apparently she was labelled “difficult” from the beginning when she complained about Simon Cowell constantly (and illegally) smoking indoors, and she annoyed producers when she asked drag performers about their preferred pronouns. Things got tense when producers told her they wanted to eliminate a 10-year-old black rapper and pick a group of white high kicking dancers from Texas because they needed to pick an act “America can get behind.” According to Vulture, Union is now exploring her legal options against the network. Meanwhile, both she and her husband tweeted about the firing last night.

–Ellen Pompeo has also been tweeting her support for Union.

-This is such a shockingly succinct example of the male gaze it should be taught in film school. Just like this should be taught in writing classes.

-Following her emotional confession yesterday, Melissa Benoist appeared on James Corden’s show to play the cellphone game with Evan Rachel Wood.

-I love when people discover this about George Clooney.

–Jennifer Aniston hosted her annual Friendsgiving dinner on Wednesday night and posted a photo of the enchiladas she made just for Jimmy Kimmel — though she didn’t appear to be too happy about it. Kimmel commented “Muchas gracias. This is a tremendous victory for me and for every American who believes turkey belongs on Thursdays. #noturkeyforFriendsgiving”

-Look Vanessa Hudgens, you’ve got a good thing going. Right now, everyone is feeling warm and fuzzy thoughts about your ability to charm them perennially in various holiday-themed cheesy Netflix movies. So why did this seem like a good time to express your desire to work with Woody Allen?!?

-In her Variety cover story, Saoirse Ronan says “I tapped Greta [Gerwig] on the shoulder and said I heard she was doing Little Women, and that I needed to be Jo.” She says when Gerwig said she had to think about it, she replied “Oh, for f—k’s sake.” Gerwig, however, remembers it a bit differently: “Saoirse told me she was playing Jo.”

-Speaking of great covers, Queen and Slim’s Jodie Turner-Smith and Daniel Kaluuya are on Vibe’s digital cover.

-This is gutting: Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist posted a raw, unflinching 14-minute video on Instagram detailing the abuse she says she suffered at the hands of an ex. Those she doesn’t name her alleged attacker, she claims he once threw an iPhone at her face so hard it tore her iris, and they made up a story about how she tripped and fell on a potted plant. She retold the potted plant story on The Tonight Show and at the time told Jimmy Fallon it happened the day after she landed Supergirl, which — if true — means it would have been in 2015 when she was married to Glee costar Blake Jenner.

–Keke Palmer‘s song association video is wonderful. It’s almost as good as her impassioned defense of the movie Titanic.

-I like how many Canada callouts there are in Dan Levy‘s 73 Questions with Vogue video.

-Former Grey’s Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington is getting a show on Fox News’ streaming service. Sounds about right.

-Variety dug deeper into Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough‘s departures from America’s Got Talent. According to their story, when Jay Leno was a guest on the show and allegedly made a racist joke about Koreans, Gabrielle told producers to report the incident to human resources. She also urged producers to cut a white contestant impersonating Beyonce from the lineup. Sources also say Union and Hough received excessive notes on their physical appearance.

-Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi commented on Martin Scorsese‘s controversial Marvel statements: “Maybe it’s too colorful for him.”

–Ira is in Toronto, which means his appearance on The Social was perfectly timed for him to drag Justin Timberlake.

-I finally caught up to Sunday’s episode of Watchmen and gah, that show is doing extraordinary things. I’ve liked pretty much every episode (we’re six into its 9-ep run), but this latest one somehow managed to expertly tackle race, class, white-washing and childhood trauma in eye-poppingly creative ways. Every episode seems to spin off a ton of think pieces (as they should), and I’m especially interested in what black critics/writers are saying about it. Here are a few I’m following (if there are others, let me know!):  Soraya Nadia McDonald at The Undefeated, Angelica Jade Bastién at Vulture, Melanie McFarland at Salon, Micah Peters at The Ringer, Joelle Monique at AV Club.
