-In news that should surprise no one, Meghan Markle‘s dad plans on testifying against his own daughter in her lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday.

-A source tells People that by the time Archie was born last May, Meghan and Harry “knew they were going to hit the nuclear button.”

-Meanwhile, while the UK press continues to eat itself Meghan‘s out here in Canada living her life and visiting women’s shelters.

-Following months of engagement rumours, Anna Faris‘s Moms co-star Allison Janney confirmed the news.

–Jessica Biel is reportedly still angry with Justin Timberlake. I’m not sure there’s a statute of limitations on these things.

-Cancel your prayer circle: Kaia Gerber is reportedly free of Pete Davidson.

-There’s so much to mock about Joaquin Phoenix. I’m not sure why Wendy Williams would choose his lip scar, of all things.

-This Schitt’s Creek feature on Catherine O’Hara’s character is full of fun tidbits, including O’Hara’s insistence that she not be intentionally mean-spirited, and how no one had actually heard what Moira was going to sound like until the first day of shooting.

-I had no idea The Farewell’s Lulu Wang and Barry Jenkins are a writer-director super power couple, but I love it.

-At HBO’s panel today at the TCAs, they unveiled the trailer for the adaptation of I Know This Much To Be True starring Mark Ruffalo, and it sounds like there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.  That book killed me; I’m not ready.

-HBO confirmed that Confederate, the controversial drama from Game of Thrones’ David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, is officially dead. Good riddance.

-Should I be watching The Circle on Netflix? I’m not really into reality TV but it seems everyone I know is *obsessed*.

-There’s a lot of terrible things about the story Brad Williams told about raping a woman, but one of the most disappointing parts to me was Doug Benson‘s non-reaction. That’s an automatic unsubscribe from the Doug Loves Movies pod for me.

-Here’s a good look at the systemic hatred of women online — as seen through Star Wars’ Reylo fandom. This is why when John Boyega made the anti-Reylo posts I mentioned that I hate when actors mock shippers — I don’t think he was specifically targeting female fans (just fans who troll him in general), but it emboldened even worse behavior in an already troll-plagued fandom.

-Disney+ dropped a trailer for Stargirl on Wednesday, and it’s chock-a-block with Manic Pixie Dream Girl traits. (It’s so weird that a CW show of the same name is also debuting soon.)

-Netflix released a trailer for the final episodes of Bojack Horseman. Sigh. I’m not ready.

-Bless Daniel Radcliffe for continuing to do the most weird-ass projects post-Potter.

Rihanna Nabs Her 6th Vogue Cover

-In her new Vogue cover story, Rihanna confirms she turned down Super Bowl halftime show in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick (“I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within [the NFL] that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way”), reveals that she’s already planning her wedding dress (“It would probably be a collaboration between myself and [John] Galliano”), and rails against Trump’s stance on gun control (“It is devastating. People are being murdered by war weapons that they legally purchase. This is just not normal. That should never, ever be normal. And the fact that it’s classified as something different because of the color of their skin? It’s a slap in the face. It’s completely racist. Put an Arab man with that same weapon in that same Walmart and there is no way that Trump would sit there and address it publicly as a mental health problem. The most mentally ill human being in America right now seems to be the president”).

-In her Elle cover story, Mindy Kaling says the TV Academy tried to remove her producing credit on The Office. In response to their denial, she tweeted: “Respectfully, the Academy’s statement doesn’t make any sense. I *was* singled out. There were other Office writer-performer-producers who were NOT cut from the list. Just me. The most junior person, and woman of color. Easiest to dismiss. Just sayin’.”

–Angelina Jolie‘s dress at the Maleficent premiere is magnificent!

–Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson are already in the “visiting each other in the hospital” stage of their relationship.

-In Ronan Farrow‘s new book, an NBC producer accuses Matt Lauer of raping her during the Sochi Olympics. The details of her allegations are as horrible as you’d expect. NBC News responded to the story: “That’s why he was fired within 24 hours of us first learning of the complaint,” while Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie addressed the story on air. Guthrie said “I feel like we owe it to our viewers to pause for a moment. This is shocking and appalling, and I honestly don’t know even know what to say about it. I know it wasn’t easy for our colleague Brooke to come forward then. It is not easy now, and we support her and any women who come forward with claims,” while Kotb added “You feel like you’ve known someone for 12 years, you feel like you know them inside and out, and all of a sudden a door opens up and it’s a part of them you didn’t know. We don’t know all the facts in all of this, but they are not allegations of an affair — they are allegations of a crime.”

–Matt Lauer‘s statement of denial is slut-shaming and disgusting.

-Also, after rejecting Farrow’s Harvey Weinstein story, the head of NBC News separately thanked Weinstein in an email for his compliments on Megyn Kelly’s debut.

-In lighter news, Twitter was *riveted* today by the tale of two British footballer’s wives. Collen Rooney couldn’t figure out which of her IG followers kept leaking her private IG stories to The Sun — but she had her suspicions. So she said she blocked everyone from viewing her stories except for the person she suspected and then posted false stories for months about her basement flooding, a trip to Mexico, etc. — only to see those stories later show up in The Sun. Today she revealed that the only person viewing those stories was Rebekah Vardy. This is so juicy it doesn’t even matter that I have zero idea who these people are!

–Mark Ruffalo‘s take on the Ellen Degeneres/George W thing is perfection. It’s not that two people with different views shouldn’t be civil or “kind” to each other. It’s that Ellen has since referred to the man who fought to keep her own marriage illegal as a “friend.” The Bush era was definitely not marked by “kindness” — and to dismiss his terrible legacy as a difference of opinion between pals seems overly simplistic.

-Also, her preaching “kindness” continues to lead to lots of tweets from people who’ve worked with her who find that ironic.

-Celebs are closing ranks around Ellen, in any case.

–Chrissy Teigen, Seth Rogen, Kate McKinnon and more stars go on global eating tour with Dave Chang in a new Netflix food series. I love shows like this. Gywneth Paltrow has never been more endearing as when she was eating her way around Spain on camera.

-I gave up on Riverdale in season one, but I’m intrigued to see how the show honours Luke Perry in tonight’s premiere.

-A big shift is coming for TV, with the arrival of new streaming platforms Apple TV+, Disney+, HBO Max and NBCUniversal’s Peacock joining the already established streamers. This shopping guide makes it clear just how expensive it’s gonna get.

-All of the reminiscing about Angel on its anniversary makes me wanna do a rewatch!

-The guy who played Carlos on Desperate Housewives is NOT happy with Felicity Huffman‘s 14 day sentence: “White Privilege. And I saw eight years worth of it, so I know what I’m talking about. Accountability and responsibility don’t mean [s–t] to these people…Slap on the wrist. Sorry, but this is [s–t].”

–Joshua Jackson being proud of his gf is a mood.

–Brie Larson says Marvel actresses have “passionately” told Kevin Feige they want an all-female movie. Gimmie!!!

Aaron Paul Breaks Bad Again

-In the new THR cover story, Aaron Paul explains why he agreed to a Breaking Bad movie despite his fears of messing with the series’ perfect legacy: “I’m like everybody else on the planet — I think Vince [Gilligan] and the rest of the writers really nailed the landing with the ending of Breaking Bad, and why mess with that? But it’s Vince we’re talking about. I would follow Vince into a fire. That’s how much I trust the man. I would do anything that he asked me to.”

–Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney were spotted at New York City’s marriage bureau on Monday — where they were seen with two security guards, a photographer and another friend — sparking rumours that they got married.

–Kevin Spacey‘s accuser has died in the midst of his sexual assault lawsuit. The late accuser’s lawyer released a statement, slamming Spacey for publicly announcing the death before the family was ready.

-In her new Rolling Stone cover story, Taylor Swift once again revisits her feud with Kanye West.

-In a Today show interview that ran Wednesday, Celine Dion revealed that she is still mourning her mentor-turned-husband René Angélil, who died in 2016. “I’m very lucky and happy to have so many people in my surrounding to make me — they make me laugh, but I miss to be touched. I miss to be hugged. I missed to be told, ‘You’re beautiful.’ I miss what a boyfriend and I miss what a husband would do.”

–Aaron Carter has fired back after brother Nick took out a restraining order against him: “We’re done for life.”

-The Navy confirmed that the UFO videos posted by the organization founded by Blink 182 rocker Tom DeLonge are real and should not have been released.

-It’s a big day for Blink-182 news. DeLonge is divorcing his wife of 18 years.

-On her talk show, Kelly Clarkson staged an American Idol reunion with guests Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Justin Guarini.

–Tekashi 6ix9ine is testifying against two former fellow gang members in a Manhattan federal court trial today, and Snoop Dogg called him a snitch because of it.

-I’m glad that Lizzo recognized that putting a delivery person from Postmates on blast on Twitter to her nearly 1M followers was a dumb and dangerous thing to do. I hate hate hate when famous people sic their followers on service people who are just trying to do their jobs (looking at you, dude from Supernatural).

–Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel got together after they bonded on the set of Carpool Karaoke over their shared love of music.

-If someone told me that an actor confessed he and his wife are swingers in a revealing interview with Playboy, I could never have guessed it’d be the mousey guy from Silicon Valley.

–Britney Spears was granted a new conservator earlier this month and Britney’s mom is already asking a judge to remove her.

-I had no idea that Melanie Lynskey and Jason Ritter were together, but her tweet about his dad, the late great John Ritter, is so so sweet.

-I love how out in the open Joe Manganiello is about his nerdom. I remember listening to a podcast once where he talked extensively about his Dungeons and Dragons expeditions.

-Todd Haynes returns with Dark Waters, a corporate thriller starring Mark Ruffalo as a tenacious attorney who connects a growing number of unexplained deaths to one the world’s largest chemical corporations. Anne Hathaway plays his wife.
