Is Jennifer Garner Engaged?

–Jennifer Garner hosted Judy Greer on Instagram Live to talk about sobriety and the whole convo was interesting (she calls her pal “J-Gers”), but all anyone can talk about is the sparkler on her ring finger.

–Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson were spotted out together yet again, this time at a NYC private club. I have no idea what’s going on with these two, but if we know about this, it’s because she wants us to know about this.

-Meanwhile, this piece on Pete Davidson being a rare straight male muse is fascinating. “Davidson has carved out a niche for himself as a master of the fleeting engagement: the person you meet on an app, see for a few months, then part ways with as though you’d never met. His flings resemble the sorts of ephemeral attachments that many of his fans are likely most familiar with. More common than love, quite possibly a waste of time, with the potential to be much more destructive, but hard to avoid, if you don’t want to be alone.”

–Cardi B and Kal Penn‘s twitter exchange about her officiating his wedding is hella cute.

-Speaking of unusual wedding officiants, Kristen Stewart joked about having Guy Fieri do hers — and seems thrilled that he said yes.

–Stewart also talked about her engagement on The Tonight Show. “Knocked it out of the park. I scored.”

-Shortly after Jay-Z became the first person followed by Beyoncé on Instagram, he deleted his account. I get it — too much pressure!

–Matthew Hutchins, the husband of late Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, has retained California-based law firm that specializes in wrongful death litigation.

–Dwayne Johnson is pledging to stop using real firearms on all projects produced by his company. “We’re going to switch over to rubber guns, and we’re going to take care of it in post… We won’t worry about what it costs.”

-Meanwhile, Johnson’s Netfllix movie with Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot is at 37% rotten.

–Nicholas Braun talks to The Guardian on coming to terms with his life-changing role as Cousin Greg on Succession.

–Shailene Woodley‘s name trended on Twitter yesterday when it was revealed her fiancé Aaron Rodgers isn’t vaccinated — because god forbid we hold grown ass men responsible for their own actions when we can blame it on their partners.

-In a new memoir, Natalie Wood’s sister Lana claims that Kirk Douglas sexually assaulted Natalie when she was a teenager.

-Twitter is dragging Chris Pratt for his post about his wife. You love to see it.

-This is a great look back at the Buffy musical episode, which aired 20 years ago(!) this week.

–Mahershala Ali plays a dying man who considers getting cloned so his family won’t know he’s gone in the trailer for Apple+’s Swan Song, costarring Glenn Close, Naomie Harris, Awkwafina and Adam Beach.

-Here’s the trailer for Netflix’s A Castle for Christmas, starring Brooke Shields and Cary Elwes.

-The Hating Game is my fave romcom book, and the trailer for its adaptation has arrived! I wish Robbie Amell hadn’t had to drop out of this, because I’m not convinced of the chemistry based on the trailer, but I’m still going to watch the shit out of this.

Lady Gaga’s Duel Vogue Covers

–Lady Gaga is on the December cover of of both British Vogue and Vogue Italia. She looks amazing on both, but it’s the Italia one on the right for me. In the interview, she talks about how committed she was when preparing for her role in House of Gucci. “It is three years since I started working on it and I will be fully honest and transparent: I lived as [her character Reggiani] for a year and a half. And I spoke with an accent for nine months of that. Off camera, I never broke. I stayed with her.”

-J. Crew unveiled its holiday campaign with Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith, and the whole thing is a delight! The little videos further down on the page are sooo cute. “Katie, call me in case this doesn’t work out.” “You call it a toque.” “That’s its name!”

–Kristen Stewart confirmed that she and her girlfriend of two years, Dylan Meyer, are engaged. She told Howard Stern, “We’re marrying, we’re totally gonna do it.”

-In his British GQ cover story, Jamie Dornan says he’s sick of people making fun of Fifty Shades of Grey. “Look, put it this way: It’s done no harm to my career to be part of a movie franchise that has made more than $1 billion. Every working actor would say the same thing. It’s provided a lot. There’s no shame in saying it’s transformed my life and my family’s life financially. I am very, very grateful for this and always will be…But I take issue with the whole thing being just a bit of a joke. Everyone involved worked as hard as they could on those films, including myself.”

-Game Of Thrones actress Gemma Whelan, who played Yara, says the show didn’t have an intimacy coordinator so sex scenes were a “frenzied mess.”

-Speaking of GoT alums, Jason Momoa says he’s “camped out at his house” after testing positive for covid. Judging by the rep he gained while shooting in here in Toronto this summer, I’m not surprised.

–Ed Sheeran has been cleared to perform on SNL after completing quarantine following a positive test. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift and Saweetie have just been added as musical guests in Nov.

-The remaining members of Little Mix say that they talked to Jesy Nelson about blackfishing before she left the group last December. “Jesy was approached by the band in a very friendly, educational manner.”

–Shonda Rhimes‘ next Netflix show, Inventing Anna, will drop in Feb. The eight-episode limited series, based on a New York Magazine story about a charming young grifter who infiltrated NYC’s social scene, began production in fall 2019 and finished a full year later because of the pandemic.

-I love that the girls from The Bold Type spent Halloween together.

–Dave Chappelle introduced Jay-Z‘s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and began his speech by saying, “I would like to apologize to… Nah, I’m just f—in’ with ya.” Classy.

–Kieran Culkin visited Vanity Fair’s Succession podcast and talked about how his character will never admit how much he loves his siblings.

-In news that should surprise no one, the reviews for Showtime’s revival of Dexter are bleak.

–Jennifer Lopez recreated her 2002 “All That I Have” video for her new Coach campaign — and looks pretty much the same.

-Here’s a look at HBO Max’s upcoming series Station Eleven. I loved the book and I adore Mackenzie Davis, but man am I not ready yet to watch post-pandemic apocalyptic drama.

Angelina Jolie Sparkles in Rome

–Angelina Jolie and her daughters Zahara and Shiloh were stunning at the Eternal premiere in Rome. This is the best dress she’s worn in ages.  (Her extensions were weak, though.)

-Speaking of the Eternals press tour style, Gemma Chan has been flawless.

-There’s lots of talk that there’s trouble in paradise for John Mulaney and Olivia Munn. Us Weekly is quoting a source who says, “Olivia and John still have to decide what kind of future they’re going to have together, if any. It’s a time of uncertainty, for both of them.” Meanwhile, DeuxMoi is posting blinds about them splitting up.

-Ex Bachelor host Chris Harrison is engaged to Entertainment Tonight reporter Lauren Zima. I appreciate that neither of their IG posts made a joke about giving each other a rose.

-SNL is reportedly scrambling to replace Ed Sheeran as a musical guest after he revealed he tested positive for COVID, and The Mountain Goats have volunteered as tribute.

-In a new stand-up video, Dave Chappelle denies reports that he refused to meet with Netflix’s transgender employees. “That is not true — if they had invited me I would have accepted it, although I am confused about what we would be speaking about.” He added, “To the transgender community, I am more than willing to give you an audience, but you will not summon me. I am not bending to anybody’s demands.”

–Kristen Stewart says she’s only proud of 5 movies on her resume. Which ones could they be?!?

-I heartily endorse this video encouraging people to binge the fifth season of The Good Fight. Maybe my fave season yet?

-A search warrant obtained by the L.A. Times details what happened on the set of Rust and in cinematographer Halyna Hutchins‘ final minutes. Alec Baldwin was practicing removing a revolver from its holster and aiming toward the camera during rehearsal. He had been given the gun by the AD, who incorrectly declared it “cold,” which is a term used to describe a weapon that contains no live rounds.

-The showrunner of ABC’s The Rookie is the first to ban live fire from his set following the accident. It’s a good start, but I hope the bigger conversation revolves around how crew members need to be better trained, paid and rested.

–Paul Walker‘s daughter got married, and his Fast and the Furious costar Vin Diesel walked her down the aisle in place of her late father.

-The Ruby Rose vs CW/WBTV feud continues. In a new statement, Warner Bros. Television “condemned” Rose’s recent allegations about her TV dad on Batwoman, Dougray Scott. “Warner Bros. has found Mr. Scott to be a consummate professional, and never received any allegation against him of bullying, or of abusive behavior on his part. Mr. Scott was greatly respected and admired by his colleagues, and was a leader on the set.”

-Meanwhile, Rose dropped another bunch of screenshots on Instagram Stories but they’re really hard to read and the messaging is confusing. If she has allegations/proof that the set is unsafe I wish she’d figure out a better way to release it. (It also doesn’t help that her first drop included the incorrect claim that Batwoman didn’t shut down production for Covid until after The Flash, Supergirl and Riverdale. The latter shut down a couple of days before the other CW shows because of a positive test, but the rest all shut down the same day.)

-Also not helping her case, a PA on the show called her a “dictator to work for.”  (She says he wasn’t on the call sheet and didn’t work there, but other crew members came to his defense.)

–Jim Caviezel has fallen all the way down the Q rabbit hole.

–James Michael Tyler, who played Gunther on Friends, has passed away at age 59 after a battle with prostate cancer.

–Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner have been cast in the movie adaptation of Beautiful Disasters. I can’t believe of all the amazing romance novels out there to adapt, they’re going ahead with this book. Not only has this adaptation been struggling to get off the ground for a decade, but lots of people think the book is problematic. Plus, the author keeps creating shitstorms with her social media posts, whether it’s her racists talk, her fatphobia or her anti-v*xx crap.

–Brendan Fraser will play the villain in HBO Max’s Batgirl movie. Love this for him.

–Nina Dobrev and Abigail Cowen star in the Redeeming Love trailer.
