Billie Eilish Presses Pause

Billie-Eilish-Vanity-Fair

-In her new Vanity Fair cover story, Billie Eilish talks about over-enthusiastic fans (“When you’re excited about something, you forget boundaries and you forget what’s polite and what’s kind of not polite. I’ve had a lot of weird situations—people will kiss me and pick me up, spin me around”), and the intense scrutiny she’s under (“I thought that I would be the only one dealing with my hatred for my body, but I guess the internet also hates my body. So that’s great”).

-To promote Savage X Fenty for Valentine’s Day, Rihanna posted a clip of her dancing in sheer lingerie — and damn if she isn’t making that mullet work for her.

I woke up in the morning naked in his bed.” A representative for Cohen denied the allegations “as absolutely false.” Cohen was previously accused of assault by his daughter and and a women who chose to remain anonymous.

-A live-action Harry Potter TV series is reportedly in early development at HBO Max. Great, another project to line JK Rowling’s pockets.

-Variety’s Actors on Actors interviews continue to hit it out of the park. Jamie Dornan and Eddie Redmayne recall their time as roommates, and — in what is the most surprisingly delightful pairing yetPete Davidson and Glenn Close talk about keeping movie costumes and her never winning an Oscar. “Is it better to be wheeled out in a wheelchair and get the lifetime achievement award? You don’t have to make a speech…It might be cool to never get one. I wouldn’t mind being wheeled out when I’m old and drooling, and I have a gray wig to cover my bald head.”

-This story about how power players in entertainment and media are hustling hard to get the vaccine before they’re supposed to is so deeply unsurprising.

Demi Lovato is going back to her comedy roots. She’s signed on to a new sitcom for NBC called Hungry.

This photo of Ben Affleck juggling all the online orders he placed in a pandemic haze is way too relatable.

-Ugh. As someone who works in social media, this is my worst nightmare: Jennifer Lopez tried to make her ‘Love Don’t Cost a Thing’ challenge go viral, and it flopped — mostly because we were all too busy creating Bernie memes. Plus, strolling on a beach and throwing away expensive things? In this climate??

Jodie Turner-Smith will play the role of Éile in a prequel to the hit Netflix series The Witcher. Yes, cast her in all things!

Ellen DeGeneres has one more year left on the contract for her show and negotiations for what happens next will reportedly begin next month, with Kelly Clarkson nipping at her heels.

-My god, the second Euphoria special is somehow even better than the first. I’m enjoying these slowed down, character-driven episodes more than I ever liked the show.

Ellen Pompeo is executive producing a new ABC drama based on Elin Hilderbrand‘s best-selling Paradise book trilogy.

-Meanwhile, ABC has delayed the return of Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, and A Million Little Things to March.

-I’ve previously only read a few historical romances but I was shocked by how dated Bridgerton seemed when I started reading the series before it debuted on Netflix. If those books are what people think romance novels are like, we’re in trouble. This piece nails it: “Yes, romance is having a moment, but it’s bittersweet for the most popular representation of our genre to be based on a series of books from two decades ago.” This list of Regency recommendations seems like a better reflection of what’s happening in the genre now.

Andy Samberg just released a commentary track for Palm Springs on Hulu. I’m actually surprised it took this long for streamers to get into DVD-style extras. I want blooper reels on everything!

-People are losing their minds over the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer. Sure.

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott Have Intense Opinions on PB&J

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott GQ cover

-New parents Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott’s GQ cover story is accompanied by a 12-minute video in which he attempts to prove how well he knows her. Their banter about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches is way more entertaining than anything in the article.

Amanda Seyfried‘s husband was a bit jealous about her working with her ex-boyfriend Dominic Cooper on Mamma Mia! 2. I can’t imagine why…

-You could win a trip to cook (breakfast – not meth) with Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul in the original Breaking Bad RV. The video is very cute. (“There’s so much shit in there, Bryan!!”)

-We already know Batwoman is coming to the CW in the upcoming 4-show crossover this fall, but now it looks like she’ll be getting her own series, too. I’m very interested in the casting for this one. I like that they’re actively seeking an actress who identifies as LGBT.

Demi Lovato is reportedly dating Halsey’s recent very recent ex G-Eazy.

-This is a very interesting fascinating thread on the Queen’s choice of brooches when meeting Trump.

-Did Justin Bieber have a falling out with Pastor Carl?

Kourtney Kardashian‘s boyfriend apparently doesn’t like her sharing sexy pics on Instagram. Did he know nothing about that family going into this?!

-I agree with this take that there are too many winter shows on TV in the summer these days. As good as I know they are, I’m having a really hard time tuning into heavy shows like Sharp Objects, Succession, Dietland, Killing Eve, etc. Which is probably why I’ve only caught up on The Bold Type and Glow this summer.

This featurette of Tom Cruise doing all this own stunts in the new MI movie is insanity.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher had a surprise wedding this weekend. (Well, surprise to us. One assumes they were in the loop.) They were reportedly already legally married and threw the wedding to celebrate with their family and friends.

-Estranged marrieds Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner spent their vacation in the Bahamas together alternating between being “cordial to each other” and “just staring off into space.” Fun!

-Ben’s camp is also putting out fires when it comes to rumours of him and Margot Robbie on the set of Suicide Squad.

-Also Ben, do you really think this is the best time in your life to be slamming Marvel movies? I mean, really?

Taylor Swift had the most photographic 4th of July ever. I feel like I could never truly be friends with her because I wouldn’t have the patience to deal with her Instagram shot-staging. (And clearly, that’s the only thing stopping our BFFdom…)

-Here come the Parks and Rec feels! Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe spent the long weekend together.

-I liked this article on Channing Tatum’s evolution from a perceived ‘dull beefcake dude’ to a movie star loved by both men and women. (Though anyone who ever thought he was dull just wasn’t reading the right interviews. Remember the time he took a GQ reporter to a stranger’s house, a bar, and a jail before they camped outside in their Snuggies?)

-Speaking of Channing,I’m not sure about Variety’s positioning of the female gaze being somehow subversive now, but this is a great take on Magic Mike XXL. “Is that what it’s like to be a straight man looking at most media? No wonder so many of them are resistant to changing that.”

-Oh god. There’s a blog dedicated to Amal Clooney’s style. Goodbye, free time! I wasn’t using you productively anyway.

-Speaking of time-wasters, the ATX Festival just posted the video of the Dawson’s Creek live-readMae Whitman played Dawson, Suits’ Patrick J. Adams played Joey, Orphan Black’s Kristian Bruun was Bess, and Kerr Smith acted as Jen.

-If it were any other show, I’d be pumped at news that Jeffrey Dean Morgan was joining the cast. But seeing as The Good Wife had no idea what to do with the delicious cinnamon roll that is Matthew Goode, I’m not hopeful about this news.

-The latest Ant-Man trailer isn’t afraid to name-drop The Avengers. Smart.
