Teen Vogue Introduces Us to The Next Big Things

TeenVogue-young hollywood_2018

-The fact that I had to look up almost half of the people featured on Teen Vogue’s Young Hollywood Class of 2018 issue means I’m very, very old.

-On Colbert’s show last night, Donald Glover met the Girl Scout who used “Red Bone” to sell cookies and it was adorable.

-Man, Amy Schumer is sharing *a lot* about her wedding on social media. The dress still pains me, but this video of the wedding vows is very sweet. (I love the part where, after he pours his heart out in an emotional speech, she just mouths “f*ck.”)

-This thread about people freaking out when meeting someone famous made me smile.

-Speaking of things that made me smile today, there’s also this Funny or Die skit with Bradley Whitford playing an “emotional stuntman” who gets called in when actors can’t handle crying scenes. (“They’re not takes. They’re gifts.”)

-I can’t believe it took four days after that horrific CBC report for Hedley to finally announce they’ll be taking an “indefinite hiatus.”

-E! is reportedly holding Oscar red carpet prep “crisis meetings” in an attempt to have only “friendly” stars approach Ryan Seacrest to talk to live, according to Page Six. “There will be no Debra Messing moments this time around,” said a source.

-On their show today, Kelly Ripa  defended co-host Seacrest  without actually mentioning the assault allegations by saying, “I just want you to know that you are a privilege to work with and I adore you. I’m speaking on behalf of all of us here. I know what an easy, professional, great person you are, and I feel very very lucky to work with you each and every day.”

-Meanwhile,  Jimmy Kimmel says he has no plans to address the Me Too movement when he hosts the Oscars, saying “This show is not about reliving people’s sexual assaults.”

-There’s also lots of talk on Twitter that more stories about really powerful men in Hollywood are about to be published, including one about a TV “titan.

Quentin Tarantino‘s Sharon Tate movie is reportedly going ahead, and will star Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. No word on who will play Tate, despite the fact that she’s ostensibly who the movie is about…

-I really liked this interview with John Leguizamo, in which he talks about Latino representation in Hollywood.

-I stopped watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine but I might have to start again now that Gina Rodriguez has joined the cast and might be playing Rosa’s girlfriend.

-I’ve also given up on the new season of The X Files, but apparently last night’s episode was an excellent standalone that you can jump into without watching the others. The fact that Gillian Anderson tweeted about Scully’s vibrator afterwards has be intrigued.

-I also gave up on Scandal ages ago but the cast’s appearance on Ellen this week was very cute.

-The police were reportedly called to Tori Spelling’s house over a “domestic incident.”

-In a very, very clever Twitter exchange between Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel, the movie studio announced that Avengers: Infinity War’s release date would be pushed up a week to April 27 instead of May 4. It’s smart of Disney to move it further away from the release of it’s other big movie (Solo), as well as Deadpool 2.

Kristen Wiig is in talks to play the villain in Wonder Woman 2, which I kind of love.

-Here’s the trailer for Starz’ series SweetBitter. I really, really liked that book, which followed a new waitress training at one of NYC’s hottest restaurants.

Alicia Vikander and James McAvoy play lovers separated by a hostage taking (and a submarine) in the Submergence trailer.

Missy Elliott Looks Stunning on Elle

-Did Marc Jacobs leak Missy Elliott’s June Elle cover last night? In any case, she looks amazing!

-A new Top of the Lake: China Girl trailer reveals who Nicole Kidman is playing.

Kelly Clarkson just joined The Voice‘s season 14 as a coach, which seems like a hilarious middle finger to the Idol reboot.

-Meanwhile, sources at Live with Kelly and Ryan are trying to shoot down rumours of a feud (already!) now that ABC is reportedly talking to Ryan Seacrest about possibly hosting its American Idol revival and Kelly Ripa reportedly (and understandably) “wants to make sure her show is Ryan’s first priority, not Idol.” How many times is ABC going to screw her over when it comes to cohosts?

-Speaking of talk shows, Steve Harvey sounds like he’s a real charmer on the set of his. A memo he sent to his staff before the new season leaked, and it includes such gems as “Do not come to my dressing room unless invited…Do not approach me while I’m in the makeup chair unless I ask to speak with you directly…I promise you I will not entertain you in the hallway, and do not attempt to walk with me. If you’re reading this, yes, I mean you.” Harvey confirmed the memo’s legitimacy and admitted he “probably should have handled it a bit differently” but refused to apologize.

-The Bachelor host Chris Harrison immediately spoofed it with his own memo to staff.

Bow Wow says there’s a “scientific method to my madness” after Twitter called out his private jet lie. Sure, buddy.

-Universal Music already wants out of its deal with Prince’s estate over accusations of fraud.

-Ha ha ha! When asked if Justice League will be better than The Avengers, Diane Lane (who plays Superman’s mom) bluntly said, “No and no. Short but honest. I hate to disappoint.”

-This is a great, great profile on Kathryn Hahn, who steps into the spotlight in Netflix’s new show I Love Dick.

-Need a pick me up? Here’s Chris Evans reading a bedtime story for kids.

Samantha Bee ripped Ivanka Trump’s book to shreds and it was a glorious thing to behold.

Melissa McCarthy transforms into Spicer for her SNL promo. This is gonna be a good one!

-A new trailer for the Love Actually mini-sequel offers a glimpse at Laura Linney, who wasn’t in the version that already aired in the UK.

-The internet thinks Harry Styles wrote “Two Ghosts” about Taylor Swift. Ok.

Ben McKenzie reveals he first met his fiancee Morena Baccarin on the set of The O.C. — and blew her off.

Kate Hudson made a kissy red carpet debut with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa.

iZombie was renewed and all is right with the world. Meanwhile Timeless has been canceled by NBC. Nobody tell Leslie Jones

-The new poster for Wonder Woman drops the word “woman.” That’s swell.

-Meanwhile, Wonder Woman is tracking for a solid $65M box-office debut.

-Both Ben Affleck and the tabloids are ready for a new girlfriend.

-Master of None season two lands on Netflix tomorrow and the reviews are glowing.

-The new Twin Peaks new promo is SO good.

Naomi Watts is a bad therapist in this first trailer for Netflix’s Gypsy.

Kelly Ripa Opens Up About the Michael Strahan Drama

kelly-ripa-people

-In this week’s People cover story, Kelly Ripa talks about what really happened when she found out that Michael Strahan was leaving (“I didn’t just not show up”), and explains why she basically forced him out months earlier than the original plan.

-Speaking of People magazine, they’re laying the groundwork for a Bennifer reunion. Are you ready? ‘Cause their PR camps really want you to be ready.

Jenny Slate has ended her three-year marriage — and is now reportedly dating Chris Evans! Sad about her marriage, but as someone who listened to those two flirt their way through Anna Faris’ podcast, I’m one million percent here for this.

-These photos of George and Amal Clooney at Cannes make me realize that I’m going to be bopping around France the same time they’re there. Get the bail money ready!

Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick sang “True Colors” in Cannes, for some reason.

-Newly single Kristen Dunst is slaying her first Cannes looks. I adore this dress.

Drew Barrymore opened up about her divorce on the Chelsea Show premiere, saying she felt like “the biggest failure.”

-Meanwhile, Chelsea Handler is over single shaming.

-I actually feel bad for Justin Bieber and totally get why he doesn’t want to take photos with fans anymore. MTV News’ piece on Justin’s panopticon of fame is worth a read.

Woody Allen’s son Ronan Farrow wrote an excellent response in THR for their cover story on Allen, and it’s required reading for journalists who cover famous people and feel they have to pull their punches for continued access. He also demands answers from the actors who continue to work with Allen.

-Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart clumsily defended working with Woody Allen, proving Ronan’s point.

-In non-Woody Allen THR news, their showrunners roundtable is a must-read about writing in Hollywood.

Emma Watson is the latest famous name to crop up in the Panama Papers, but she denies dodging taxes.

Sophie Turner says Jennifer Lawrence “punched me in the vagina.” That seems on-brand.

-If you sue Nicki Minaj, she will destroy you on Twitter.

-The worst thing about Donald Trump‘s campaign is that it took The Newsroom’s Will McAvoy out of retirement.

-I really like Jon Stewart, but his critique of Hilary Clinton is pretty terrible. Instead of talking about her policies, he focuses on her how authentic she looks? Ugh.

-Was the Peggy mention on this week’s Agents of Shield proof that Agent Carter is cancelled? *pouts*

Minnie Driver sounds like an absolutely delightful neighbour.

-I seriously don’t know if I can commit to another hourlong drama, but the early reviews for Preacher are flames.

-Speaking of hourlongs, I’m still not over the f*ckery that was The Good Wife finale. This article about it is great, especially the third bullet about the showrunners’ strange comments.

-Deadpool just crashed his own Honest Trailers video.

-It looks like Supergirl might actually move to the CW. Production-wise, it shouldn’t be that much of a visual step down (The Flash often looks better made on a much smaller budget), but is it good for the CW? Do they even get a say?

-Speaking of The Flash, last night’s Kevin Smith-directed episode might have been its best yet.

-Here’s the trailer for Nerve, starring Emma Roberts, Dave Franco and Juliette Lewis.
