Justin Bieber Talks “Tough” Year of Marriage

–Justin Bieber is on the new cover of GQ, and he talks about his marriage to Hailey Baldwin (“The first year of marriage was really tough because there was a lot going back to the trauma. There was just a lack of trust. There was all these things that you don’t want to admit to the person that you’re with, because it’s scary. You don’t want to scare them off by saying, ‘I’m scared'”), on having children (“Not this second, but we will eventually”) and his faith (“He is grace. Every time we mess up, He’s picking us back up every single time. That’s how I view it. And so it’s like, ‘I made a mistake. I won’t dwell in it. I don’t sit in shame. But it actually makes me want to do better'”).

-He also give GQ a look inside his tour bus, which is insane.

–David Tennant faked having a personal assistant so he didn’t have to attend events he didn’t want to go to, becoming my personal hero.

–Pete Davidson said he’s with his “celebrity crush” amid Phoebe Dynevor romance rumours.

-Netflix has renewed Bridgerton for seasons 3 and 4 which, if they continue to follow the books, will focus on Benedict and Colin, respectively.

-Meanwhile, Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers talked to Vanity Fair about staying in the Bridgerton business, and the intense way fans are mourning the loss of Regé-Jean Page‘s Duke of Hastings.

–Lady Gaga‘s underrated 2013 album ARTPOP hit the top 3 on iTunes as fans continue to circulate a petition to release more songs from the LP. Gaga tweeted: “I fell apart after I released this album. Thank you for celebrating something that once felt like destruction. We always believed it was ahead of its time. Years later turns out, sometimes, artists know. And so do little monsters. Paws up”

-Meanwhile, Gaga was spotted wearing a poufy white wedding dress on the set of the Gucci movie.

–DMX‘s family released a statement to dispel rumours. They clarified that no one is buying his master recordings and warned of scammers pretending to raise money for his upcoming memorial

-Minari’s Yuh-Jung Youn continues to be a delight. When asked about staying home during the pandemic, she said “Staying in bed the whole day is my pleasure and my hobby. I like to watch TV or just doze, not thinking about anything. I’m sorry to say I’m really enjoying quarantine. I don’t have to see anybody. I can just stay home 24 hours a day in bed, my favorite place.”

–Kevin Smith‘s new horror movie will be sold as an NFT. The Daily did a whole podcast today about NFTs, and I still don’t get the appeal.

–George Clooney, Noah Wyle, Julianna Margulies and other ER alums are coming together for a special Earth Day episode of Stars in the House to support The Actors Fund amid the pandemic.

–Madonna took a commenter to task for their thoughts on gun control.

-The creators of Netflix’s Shadow and Bone adaptation promise they’ve improved Mal, one of the book’s most problematic characters. The Shadow and Bone books were ok, but honestly I’m excited to watch this show because it’s also going to feature characters from the sequel series Six of Crows, which were MUCH better books.

-Here’s the trailer for the final season of Shrill starring Aidy Bryant.

-Here’s the first trailer for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, starring Ryan Reynolds and Salma Hayek. Using “Hit Me Baby, One More Time” in a trailer for a hitman movie is gold.

Seth Rogen Talks Kanye and Kids in GQ

-I love how everyone’s freaking out about how good Seth Rogen looks in his new GQ spread. He talks about Kanye West’s influence on him and why he and his wife don’t have kids. “We very much like our lives, so we will continue to put it off, it seems like, for a little while…I’ve had my friends be like, “Yeah, it really was hard on our relationship.” I’m not saying we couldn’t overcome it, but, again, we really get along and have a very good dynamic. She works very hard, and a lot as well, so when we’re together, we really try to enjoy each other and hang out.”

–Rihanna’s NYT interview is a must-read: “I love being black. So, sorry for those who don’t like it.”

–Celine Dion‘s episode of Carpool Karaoke aired and she was even more extra than we could have hoped for!

–Johnny Depp accused ex-wife Amber Heard of having “painted-on bruises” to allege abuse, saying “She was the perpetrator, and I was the victim.” For crying out loud, her police reports had medical records in them!

–Scarlett Johansson and SNL’s Colin Jost are engaged after two years of dating. This is going to be husband No. 3. (I always forget she was once married to Ryan Reynolds.)

-The Jonas Brothers are on the latest episode of Billy on the Street. “The measles are back and so are the Jonas Brothers!”

-In their new Esquire interview, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio talk about getting butterflies when meeting Luke Perry on the set of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and it’s very sweet.

-Also, I’m sure Brad and Leo like each other — but this clip of them on the Cannes red carpet makes it look like they really, really don’t.

-Also at Cannes, Nicolas Winding Refn said his new TV show isn’t actually a TV show.  “It’s a 13-hour movie. It’s not TV!” Sigh. If movie directors don’t respect TV, maybe they should not attempt TV?

–Colin Firth came to Elle Fanning’s rescue when she fainted at a Cannes party, which is so very Mr. Darcy of him.

-This is a good explanation of Hulu/Disney/Comcast divorce. Basically, I’m expecting to look back at my cable bill as “the good ole days” when we’re all paying twice for all the streaming services we’ll end up getting.

-The endless Keanu Reeves love that has come out of the John Wick 3 promo tour has been such a treat. I especially love this video of him with puppies.  There’s also this great story of him making a teen theatre employee’s day. And of course, his Ellen interview where she questioned why he and Sandra Bullock never got together when they both admitted to crushing on each other at the same time, and he responded “We were working.”

-I don’t watch The Big Bang Theory, but people are really upset by the Penny twist.

-It sucks that Mayim Bialik had to shut down an Instagram commenter who ogled her for wearing a t-shirt — but do you remember the time she wrote a NYT op-ed about how she escaped harassment in Hollywood by not dressing provocatively?

-On a new podcast, Julianna Margulies said she’s done ‘protecting CBS’ over the real reason she hasn’t gone on The Good Fight — because they wouldn’t pay her what she was making on The Good Wife. “I thought, Why am I protecting CBS? I said yes. They said no. And you know what? I need to pave the way for the next one coming up…I also know for a fact that any male star who is asked to come on a spin-off of their show would’ve been offered at least $500,000…If they were to ask me to go back on The Good Fight, paying me what my salary is, [I would be there] in a heartbeat.”

–Joshua Jackson has been cast as the male lead in Hulu drama Little Fires Everywhere, joining a cast that includes Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington. I LOVED that book!

-The Chi has dropped actor Jason Mitchell following accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct.

-People may have hated it, but Game of Thrones’s finale set HBO’s all-time ratings record.

-Speaking of GoT, Jason Momoa live-streamed his reaction while watching the show and was NOT happy about Dany’s fate. Meanwhile, Emilia Clarke said of Dany’s turn “It comes out of f—king nowhere. I’m flabbergasted.”

–Celeste Barber appears on the final webisode for Gay of Thrones and it’s perfect.

-This Is Us’ Milo Ventimiglia bonds with dog in The Art of Racing in the Rain trailer.

 

Richard Madden Plays the Cowboy

–Richard Madden is on a promo blitz for Rocketman, which includes an interview with Elton John. He also did an interview with British Vogue, in which he talked about feeling insecure about his body when shooting sex scenes (“I find myself with actor friends – after we’ve done a kind of barely eating, working-out-twice-a-day, no-carbing thing for these scenes – looking at each other going: ‘We’re just feeding this same s**t that we’re against'”) and how he’d be down with playing “a Bond boy.”

-Woahhh nelly! According to the Daily Beast, lawyers for Prince William are scrambling to suppress reports of his affairs in the press, claiming publications are violating his “human rights.”

–Scarlett Johansson released a statement after being chased by the paparazzi following a talk show appearance with her Avengers costars yesterday. “After leaving Jimmy Kimmel, I was followed by five cars full of men with blacked out windows who were running red lights and putting other drivers and pedestrians at risk so they could follow me to find out where I was staying and subsequently stalk me and my young daughter for the duration of my stay.” She had her driver take her to a police station until it was safe to go home.

-Yesterday, Felicity Huffman was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and will plead guilty. She told the court, “I am ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community.” And today, Lori Loughlin was indicted on money laundering in addition to her previous mail fraud charge.

-In other court news, Smallville’s Allison Mack tearfully pleaded guilty to racketeering charges yesterday.

-This is the second interview in a month in which Julianna Margulies talked about not appearing on The Good Fight because they wouldn’t pay her the same rate she got on The Good Wife. I don’t disagree with her but … this feels odd.

-I don’t watch The Young Pope, but I understand why these photos of Jude Law shooting the new season just set the internet on fire.

-The Bold Type is back tonight and while I like that show, I’m bummed that it sounds like the worst character is still terrible.

-Netflix’s originals are breaking through with subscribers, but shows they don’t own–some of which could soon exit the service–remains very popular.

-Despite her involvement in Scientology, The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss insists “I am obviously a huge feminist and huge supporter of the LGBTQ community.”

-Canada is finally going to get Aidy Bryant‘s show Shrill, which will air on Crave — also the home of the new Veronica Mars.

–Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman marked the 10th anniversary of Parks and Rec’s debut.

-Every new trailer for Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut Book Smart makes me more and more excited to see it.
