-Bill & Ted 3 is finally, officially happening. I don’t know how Keanu Reeves is making this haircut work, but he really is.

–Mindy Kaling just got a straight-to-series Netflix comedy inspired by her childhood.

–Ricky Gervais‘ new Netflix show After Life, about a grieving widower whose suicide attempt is interrupted by a dog, is getting rave reviews.

-Speaking of rave reviews, critics are digging Jann Arden’s six-part series, which debuts tonight.

-Today Disney closed their $71 billion acquisition of Fox entertainment business, one of the biggest media consolidations in Hollywood history. It brings nearly all Marvel heroes and villains under one owner, with the Fox-owned X-Men and Deadpool now in the Disney-controlled MCU. (It’ll be interesting to see if they’ll be able to keep the Deadpool movies profane despite Disney’s squeaky clean rep.) On the TV side, Disney now has a massive TV studio with A-list showrunners like Seth MacFarlane, Lee Daniels and Kurt Sutter.  They also acquired Fox’s 30% stake of Hulu, which now gives Disney a controlling interest of 60%.

-Here’s the first trailer for Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. People are going crazy for it, but I’m not sold yet.

-Also, this video on the Easter eggs you may have missed in the film’s poster made me laugh a lot.

-Here’s the first trailer for Lucy in the Sky, starring Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz and Dan Stevens. It’s produced by Reese Witherspoon and is the directorial debut of Legion/Fargo creator Noah Hawley.  So yeah, I’m in.

Melissa McCarthy Calls Out Billy Bush in New Interview

-In her InStyle cover story, Melissa McCarthy recalls being subjected to a terrible interview by someone who sounds a lot like Billy Bush. “I do remember another interview I did for Bridesmaids with somebody who later lost his job for a conversation he had on a bus with someone else. I won’t mention names, but just think about it. He kept asking, ‘Are you shocked that you actually work in this business at your tremendous size?’ He was like, ‘Oh, your tremendous size, you can actually work?’ I just remember all the blood drained out of me. I thought, ‘With my tremendous size, I could tackle you so quickly.’ ”

In her new People cover story, Nicole Kidman says she knew she wanted to marry Keith Urban after just six months of dating. “It was my [38th] birthday, and he stood outside with gardenias at 5 a.m. on my stoop in New York. That is when I went, ‘This is the man I hope I get to marry.'”

-Here’s how Kevin Hart worded his second apology: “Once again, Kevin Hart apologizes for his remarks that hurt members of the LGBTQ community. I apologize.” He added it’s not his “life dream” to become an LGBTQ ally. That’s swell.

-Meawhile, it seems that the Academy has resigned itself to the fact that the Oscars will air with no host for the first time in 30 years, according to Variety.

-In his new Hollywood Reporter cover story, Samuel L Jackson admits he was a functioning crack addict for 15 years. “The whole time I was using, sure, I had a good reputation. I showed up on time, I did my lines. I was great. But there was something that was keeping me from getting to that next place.”

–Kit Harrington says the cast was pretty much over it while filming the final GoT season.

-Marvel is making a TV show about Vision and Scarlet Witch for Disney’s new streaming service, with Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olson expected to reprise the roles they originated on the big screen.

–Rosario Dawson is reportedly dating Senator Corey Booker.

-Just months after being pushed out of Disney and Pixar, Skydance Media has hired alleged sexual harasser John Lasseter. God, how deflating must that be for the women who work there?

–Mariah Carey has settled the lawsuit with former manager Stella Bulochnikov, who sued the singer for sexual harassment after working with her for about three years.

-Woah. Jordan Peele is taking on the Lorena Bobbit story in a new documentary for Amazon Prime. Here’s the first trailer.

-Oof, Nina Dobrev‘s new CBS sitcom is getting panned.

-The Green Book crew continue to make things worse, not better with every interview.

–Natasha Lyonne keeps dying then subsequently reliving her birthday in the trailer for Netflix’s Russian Doll, produced by Amy Poehler. Critics who’ve already screened it are loving it.

-Meanwhile, critics are not loving M. Night Shymalan‘s Glass. The embargo was lifted this afternoon and the reviews are mostly negative.

–Anthony Mackie and Margaret Qualley are the last survivors on a toxic earth in the trailer for Netflix’s new sci-fi film IO.

-The Little trailer, starring Regina Hall and Issa Rae, looks like an updated version of Big and I’m so here for it.

Laverne Cox Covers Cosmo

-Yay for Laverne Cox, who just became Cosmopolitan’s first openly trans cover model.

-Today’s Oscar noms were a mixed bag. Though there’s still a lot of work to be done, but it was more diverse and not as #OscarsSoWhite as previous years, with four black actors included in the acting categories (Daniel Kaluuya, Denzel Washington, Mary J. Blige and Octavia Spencer), and Jordan Peele becoming only the third person to receive best picture, director, and writing noms. Women fared well too, with Mudbound’s Rachel Morrison  becoming the first woman nominated for best cinematography in history, and Greta Gerwig becoming the fifth ever woman to be nominated for directing. And 8 of the 10 nominated actresses are over 40!

-Meanwhile, the nominations seemed to solidify the sense that it’s now a two-way race between The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

-I’m bummed there was no best pic noms for The Big Sick, The Florida Project or Wonder Woman, and no supporting love for Tiffany Haddish and Michael Stuhlbarg. I am not bummed at all by the James Franco snub.

-I just took the Good Place soul mate quiz and got Tahini. That can’t be good.

–Dylan Farrow’s clapback to Justin Timberlake makes me want to write poems in her honour.

–Melissa Benoist’s outfit at the Waco premiere is so fugly, it’s nearly incomprehensible. Dear gawd, are those velvet shoes?!

–Leonardo DiCaprio helped Orlando Bloom celebrate Bloom’s 41st birthday with a party full of models in Marrakesh.

-I love that this reporter asked Sterling K Brown if he’d noticed how few black reporters were granted access at the SAGs (especially since there are rumours that Marvel is being selective on letting black journalists interview the cast of Black Panther). It’s opened up a wider conversation about access and revealed some not great stories about the Luke Cage media rollout.

–Zoe Kazan has never been more relatable than in this pic of her meeting Frances McDormand.

-In an interview with Vulture about Baskets, Zach Galifianakis said of Louis C.K.: “This is the poison of celebrity culture: The fact that someone can think that just because they’re loved, they can do what they want. It grosses me out. That’s all I want to say.”

-It’s pilot season! Here’s a look at what the networks are ordering. (CBS has clearly took their criticism to heart; all of the shows they’ve ordered so far are from female creators).

-One of the great byproducts of the Times Up movement in Hollywood is the growing transparency around pay. Over 100 anonymous TV workers shared what they make as pilot writers, on writing staffs, and as assistants.

–Mo’Nique is blasting Netflix for not offering her what she deserves for a comedy special. (She’s not wrong.) Wanda Sykes offered her own story about being low-balled by Netflix.
