Jennifer Garner Lives Up to Her ‘Queen of Nice’ Title

–Jennifer Garner‘s profile in THR is full of goodness. She talks about a possible Alias revival (“Sign me up. I’ll grab Bradley [Cooper] by the scruff of his neck”), her ex-hubby Ben Affleck (“People are in awe of him. He’s done incredible things, he’s six-four, he’s … him, and [strangers] treat him with a kind of reverence”),  and why she allowed rare photos of their kids at her Walk of Fame ceremony in 2018 (“I don’t have two Oscars on my mantle, I’ve raised them. And I think every little kid has a dream that their mom will have a moment where people applaud her so that they can say, ‘That’s right, I knew it,’ and my kids got to have that and for that I’m grateful”). She also revealed that her daughter Violet was once kicked off a soccer team because the paparazzi caused too much of a distraction.

–Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong’o are both taking their first major TV roles in AppleTV’s new limited series, Lady In the Lake.

–Ryan Murphy set the record straight amid claims by Naya Rivera’s father that he broke a promise to set up a scholarship fund for her son.

-41,000 viewers filed complaints to ITV against Piers Morgan over his comments on Meghan Markle‘s mental health​ — and Meghan Markle was one of them.

-Meanwhile, Morgan tweeted, “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t.”  (Sidenote: I didn’t realize until I saw this clip that his hatred of her seems to stem from the fact that they once went out for drinks and then she ghosted him — which makes him even more pathetic than I realized.)

–CBS will re-air Oprah’s interview with Harry and Meghan on Friday night.

-The people behind Grey’s Anatomy keep making noises about this current season possibly being its last. “I’m planning a season and a finale that could function as either a season finale or a series finale,” showrunner Krista Vernoff told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m planning for both contingencies and it’s hard and it’s not ideal. It’s not where I wish we were.”

–Chloe Sevigny had a secret wedding last year — and she wore black.

–Paris Jackson, 22, defended her relationship with Emile Hirsch, 35, after comments about their age difference. When it comes to Hirsch, his age is the least of my concerns.

–Winston Marshall is taking some time away from Mumford and Sons after praising a right-wing author.

–Justin Bieber calls his latest music video “a love letter to the Toronto Maple Leafs.”

-I don’t watch American Horror Story, but I love that Macaulay Culkin will be in the new season because he deserves all the things.

-Here’s the trailer for HBO’s Tina Turner doc, which premieres March 27.

–Frances McDormand covers the new issue of Vogue, and I actually looked it up to see if she’s in the new Dune movie because otherwise this cover shoot makes no sense to me. She is not. In any case, she still deserves all the covers!

–Emma Stone is heading to TV. She’ll star in the Safdie brothers’ The Curse, which has been formally ordered to series at Showtime. The series from the Uncut Gems duo is described as a genre-bending comedy that explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of Stone’s character and her husband (Nathan Fielder) as they try to conceive a child.

-Merry Swiftmas! Prolific pop singer Taylor Swift announced this morning that she’s celebrating her birthday by dropping another surprise album tonight. Considering how many folklore songs ended up on my Spotify Wrapped playlist, I’m very much looking forward to this.

-People are convinced that she’s wearing a wedding dress in one of the album’s promo pics.

–Ariana Grande gets teary in the trailer of her Netflix tour docu-film excuse me, i love you, which is set to drop Dec. 21.

–Ryan Reynolds got his mother to on an expletive-laden rant against Chris Hemsworth… but it’s all for charity.

–Jon Bernthal is set to create and star in an Amazon drama called The Bottoms. I’m not even gonna look up what this show is about, because there’s no way it lives up to what I’m imagining in my head.

–Pedro Pascal says his performance in Wonder Woman 1984 was partially inspired by Nicolas Cage. “With Wonder Woman, [Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig] are doing the action, baby, and I’m doing the schm-acting! I am hamming it up!”

–Kelly Clarkson says her estranged husband, who was also her manager, defrauded her out of millions by charging exorbitant fees.

–Ellen Degeneres revealed that she’s tested positive for covid, but so far her symptoms are very mild. The show has paused production until next year.

-Speaking of covid, Chris Evans was photographed doing his own covid swab…which seems weird.

-Dancing With The Stars’ judge Carrie Ann Inaba also tested positive.

-iCarly is being rebooted with the original stars because Hollywood has run out of ideas.

-Whoa. Girls star Allison Williams is going to lead a remake of the Canadian drama Being Erica.

–George Clooney‘s new movie The Midnight Sky is just getting so-so reviews but it’s on Netflix so we’re all going to watch it anyway.

-The French Exit trailer stars Michelle Pfeiffer as an ex-wealthy widow and Lucas Hedges as her son.

–Scarlett Johansson covers EW to promote Black Widow. She talks about only having met Florence Pugh a few times before they filmed their first scene together (“Immediately we were in each other’s space, like, ‘All right, I’m going to grab your armpit, and you put your hand under my knee in a pretzel'”) and why she didn’t want the movie to just be “like Bourne, but with a woman” (“I hope that this film continues pushing that boundary, so that we can actually have more female superheroes who are inherently female, and aren’t just Batman in heels or whatever”).

-The Hollywood Reporter just released their stars and their stylists issue, which I always adore.

-Wow. Harvey Weinstein just got 23 years in jail, which is close to the maximum possible sentence, if his terms were run consecutively, of 29 years. The judge said “This is your first conviction, but not your first offense.”

-Meanwhile, before sentencing he said in the courtroom “I am totally confused. I think men are confused about these issues. Thousands of men are losing due process. I’m worried about this country.” It’s pretty ballsy to complain about a lack of due process — when you’ve just been afforded it.

–Jenna Dewan gave birth to baby No. 2, a boy she named Callum Michael Rebel Kazee.

–Wendy Williams called out Nicki Minaj for marrying Kenneth Petty, who registered as a sex offender this week following a 1995 conviction for first-degree attempted rape. “You should’ve never married him because now you’ve ruined everything about what your brand could be.”

–Dakota Johnson‘s gives Architectural Digest a peek inside her home and I kind of love it.

-This video of today’s daytime talk shows with no audiences due to covid-19 is very eerie.

–Naomi Campbell showed up to a flight from LA to NYC on Tuesday clad in a full hazmat suit, surgical mask and latex gloves included. Look, I had to self-isolate today due to this damn virus and even I think this is irresponsible and panic-inducing.

-Westworld is trying to make it seem like its truly reinvented itself for season 3, but in the end it seems like it’s just more of the same.

–Jon Bernthal is set to star in an American Gigolo TV reboot at Showtime and wow, do I love that casting!

-Speaking of shows I want in my eyeballs immediately, Scott Foley has been cast to headline a dramedy about the ballet.

–Brad Pitt is coming to HGTV for Celebrity IOU With Drew and Jonathan Scott. Each episode will feature a star getting hands-on with the brothers to imagine a design plan to reward their mentors, friends or family member.

-The Ellen Show got the three Love Is Blind couples together for a game of Never Have I Ever.

-Meanwhile, I’m kind of shocked that Gwyneth Paltrow watched Love Is Blind.

–John Krasinski says he and Ryan Reynolds “turned into 14-year-old boys” when they got to meet a surprisingly friendly owl at Reynolds’ daughter’s birthday party.

–Colin Firth and Julie Walters star in a new adaptation of The Secret Garden.
