Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel: New Parents?

-The Daily Mail is reporting that Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have welcomed a new baby following a “super-secret pregnancy” — and so far, there’s been no denials. If true, the timing suggests she was pregnant when those photos of him looking cozy with his costar surfaced in Nov.

-Speaking of surprising baby news, Nicki Minaj is pregnant. I love every one of her announcement photos.

–Kanye West hosted the first campaign event for his bewildering presidential run over the weekend, and it was predictably messy. He broke down in tears, said his dad wanted to abort him, claimed that he and Kim Kardashian considered not having North, and said Harriet Tubman never actually freed slaves.

-People reports the Kim is “furious” he discussed North.

-A hostess at a fancy NYC restaurant posted a TikTok rating celebrities guests she’s encountered. The Hadid sisters, Beyonce and Josh Peck got 10/10 for being incredibly kind, while Kylie Jenner got 2/10 for tipping $20 on a $500 bill, and Hailey Bieber got 3.5/10 for being “not nice.” (Hailey has since tweeted an apology.)

–Amber Heard gave testimony to the British High Court today that she was afraid her ex-husband Johnny Depp was going to kill her, saying “Some incidents were so severe that I was afraid he was going to kill me, either intentionally or just by losing control and going too far. He explicitly threatened to kill me many times, especially later in our relationship.”

-She also said he was irrationally jealous of her costars and had nasty nicknames for them, including Leo ‘pumpkin-head’ DiCaprio, Channing ‘potato-head’ Tatum and Jim ‘turd’ Sturgess’.

–August Alsina is milking every last drop of fame he can from his affair with Jada Pinkett Smith. He just dropped a new song entitled — you guessed it! — “Entanglements.”

–Lindsay Lohan, Nancy Meyers, Dennis Quaid and more came together for a Parent Trap reunion. She looks and sounds really, really good.

-I’m sick of Zoom videos, but I’ll still be tuning into the Happy Endings reunion, which airs tonight at 7pm ET on YouTube.

–John Oliver is attempting to quash coronavirus conspiracy theories by enlisting celebrities.

–Mykki Blanco alleges that Universal Music Group still hasn’t paid them for their contribution to Teyana Taylor’s “WTP” some two years after the track came out.

-Vanity Fair’s Mo Ryan just dropped another stunner of a TV expose. She talked to 30 people who worked with Peter Lenkov, former showrunner of Hawaii Five-0, Magnum P.I., and MacGyver about alleged bullying, abuse & other serious problems they encountered. Kudos to McGyver star Lucas Till for being one of the ones to go on the record about Lenkov’s alleged bullying and body-shaming, despite what that might mean for his career. “I’ve never worked this hard in my life, and I am fine with hard work,” said Till. “But the way Peter treats people is just unacceptable. I was suicidal that first year on the show, because of the way he made me feel. But the way he’s treated the people around me—that’s just my breaking point.” Through his lawyer, Lenkov denied all allegations.

-Some are saying the only reason he was fired is because CBS knew this article was coming.

-Not surprising: Christopher Nolan‘s Tenet isn’t going to make its August release date after all. Sort of surprising: when announcing it, Warner Bros put out a press release that included 9 “off the record” paragraphs warning/scolding media about their coverage. Um,  “off the record” only exists if both parties agree to it beforehand, not if you send an unsolicited email. Secondly, nothing in a press release can be off the record — the whole point of press releases is to make a public announcement!

-I really like Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress.

-Disney+ released the trailer for Black Is King, the new Lion King-inspired “visual album”/film written and directed by Beyoncé that comes out later this month. It features cameos from Kelly Rowland, Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, and Jay-Z.

Chris Evans Sends Captain American Shield To Young Hero

–Chris Evans sent an incredibly sweet video message to Bridger, the little boy who protected his sister from a dog attack. Anne Hathaway, Mark Ruffalo, Winston Duke and other stars have also shouted him out.

-This 5-minute video of Henry Cavill building a computer from scratch is simultaneously hot and relaxing.

-The Bold Type’s Aisha Dee, who plays Kat, posted about her frustration over the lack of diversity behind the scenes of the show. She also echoed many fans’ disappointment for her character’s bizarre new relationship with a rich conservative woman, saying that it felt “felt confusing and out of character.” She added, “It was heartbreaking to watch Kat’s story turn into a redemption story for someone else, someone who is complicit in the oppression of so many. Someone whose politics are actively harmful to her communities.” The season finale airs tonight, ending an abbreviated season after production was shut down due to covid.

–Prince Andrew’s website has been removed.

-With Britney Spears‘ conservatorship nearing its August 22 deadline, #FreeBritney is trending again. Anyone who follows gossip has known for years how messed up her situation is, but now it seems to finally be hitting mainstream consciousness, with multiple sites posting backgrounders this week.

-It’s also in the news because her mother Lynne Spears has filed a legal request to be more in the know about “all matters” surrounding Britney’s finances and trust.

–Cory Monteith‘s mom talked about his friendship with Naya Rivera in an emotional Instagram post.

–Cardi B is defending Offset’s present to their two-year-old daughter: a $20k Birken bag.

-In Johnny Depp‘s libel case, the court heard a witness statement provided by Winona Ryder: “I understand that it is very important that I speak from my own experience, as I obviously was not there during his marriage to Amber, but, from my experience, which was so wildly different, I was absolutely shocked, confused and upset when I heard the accusations against him. The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations. He was never, never violent towards me. He was never, never abusive at all towards me. He has never been violent or abusive towards anybody I have seen.” Vanessa Paradis‘ statement was also read, in which she said: “This is nothing like the true Johnny I have known, and from my personal experience of many years, I can say he was never violent or abusive to me.”

–Amanda Peet and Sarah Paulson did a wonderfully chaotic IG Live for Instyle. (This short clip perfectly sums up the energy.) They call each other “Bird” and have been friends since Jack & Jill, a terrible show I used to love.

–Chrissy Teigen has chain blocked more than a million Twitter users in attempt to weed out the “sick psychopaths” obsessed with the idea that she was linked to sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein, a dumb conspiracy theory based on a very fake flight manifesto.

-A source tells People that Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith‘s marital problems were exacerbated by their fame, and during their separation four years ago he felt “more of the pressure” to make their marriage work.

-Barely 24 hours after NBC’s new streaming service Peacock launched, some movies are already being removed. So strange, especially since one of the movies is Shrek, which was a major part of their marketing.

Viola Davis’ Vanity Fair Cover Makes History

–Viola Davis is on the stunning new cover of Vanity Fair, in which she talks about the BLM movement not being her first form of protest (“I feel like my entire life has been a protest. My production company is my protest. Me not wearing a wig at the Oscars in 2012 was my protest. It is a part of my voice, just like introducing myself to you and saying, ‘Hello, my name is Viola Davis’ “) and the difficulties of being Black in Hollywood (“We know as women, when you speak up, you’re labeled a bitch—immediately… As a woman of color, there is very, very, very little you have to do. All you have to do is maybe roll your eyes, and that’s it”).

-The Viola Davis cover was shot by Dario Calmese, marking the first time in its 100+ year history that Vanity Fair has had a Black photographer shoot a cover. He told NYT how it’s meant to be an image of protest, referencing an 1863 photo of a slave titled “The Scourged Back.”

-There’s also lots of chatter on social about how Calmese lit Davis much better than Annie Leibovitz recently lit Simone Biles.

–Meghan Markle urged girls to “build each other up” and to “rebuild the world around them” in a powerful Girl Up Leadership Summit speech. Everyone’s going gaga over her longer hair.

-Glee creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan announced they are creating a college fund for Naya Rivera‘s son, Josey.

-All of the Glee cast’s memories and stories that they’re sharing of Naya are heartbreaking.

-I spent a very long time on this thread of Naya’s best performances.

–Chris Evans‘ website, A Starting Point, launched today. It aims to, in its own words, “create a bipartisan channel of communication” through short videos from elected officials. I’m not sure both-sides-ism is what the world needs right now, but at least they’re saying it’ll be “fact-based and fact-checked.”

-The cast of Happy Endings is set to reunite and perform new scripted material from the writers of the series as part of a fundraiser. I recently rewatched that show and man, it still holds up.

-A federal judge has rejected a $46.8 million settlement of the Harvey Weinstein sexual misconduct cases, saying it is not suitable for a class action. “The idea that Harvey Weinstein can get a defense fund ahead of the claimants is obnoxious.”

–Bryan Fuller keeps teasing another season of Hannibal and honestly there’s nothing I want more.

-MythBusters’ former co-host Grant Imahara died suddenly following a brain aneurysm. He was 49.

–Trina McGee, who went public with the racism and general poor treatment she received from three stars of Boy Meets World when they were filming, said her relationship with two of them (Will Friedle and Danielle Fishel) has improved.  However, she added “I do not talk to Ben Savage at all.”

–Christopher Nolan‘s Tenet is likely to be delayed again, as theaters in LA are shut down again.

-In Johnny Depp‘s libel suit against The Sun, the court saw a pic of him passed out and covered in ice cream.

–Patrick Stewart‘s quotidian sonnet readings are often the highlight of my day. He read number 80 today — on the eve of his 80th birthday. His BFF Ian McKellen took over sonnet 81.

-Peacock, NBC’s new streaming service, launches today for free. In Canada, it looks like most of the new shows are coming to Corus.
