-I really hope the buzz surrounding Normal People (which drops in Canada this week on CBC Gem) is still loud enough when productions resume so that Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones translate their critically acclaimed performances into huge new roles. They’re both so, so good in it and deserve to be big stars. Mescal’s on the new cover of Stylist, where he talks about auctioning off his character’s infamous chain to support a mental health and suicide charity called Pieta House.

–Lana Del Rey can’t stop digging a hole. This weekend, she posted yet another defense of her original post, and compared herself to yet another POC. “The difference is, when I get on the pole, people call me a whore, but when [FKA] Twigs gets on the pole, it’s art.” At what point does someone in her life just change her Insta password?

-Speaking of singers who’ve screwed up, after videos surfaced of her laughing at racist comments in a video chatroom, Doja Cat wrote an Instagram post on Sunday addressing the allegations.

–Ben Affleck and Ana De Armas have graduated to taking his kids on their pap walks.

-Somehow, last week I missed Jezebel’s chat with the owner of the Ana de Armas fan account that she blocked. It’s great!

-Riverdale stars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have broken up again.

–Khloe Kardashian has a new face and I don’t usually like to judge this shit but this is actually shocking. She’s a completely different person than how she looked just a few years ago.

–John Krasinski is facing backlash for selling “Some Good News.” Well…yeah.

–Jon Hamm was spotted playing tennis with rumoured girlfriend Anna Osceola.

-This clip Henry Winkler telling Jimmy Fallon about the jackets that changed his life is very sweet.

-Speaking of Fallon, Jennifer Lopez is (not surprisingly) much better at learning TikTok dances than he is.

–Sam Neill recruited Helena Boham Carter for a short in which she plays his cellphone and it’s good clean quarantine fun.

–Grimes and Elon Musk have updated their baby’s name after being told it can’t contain a numeric digit.

-There’s only one episode left of this season of Killing Eve but I can’t imagine I’ll ever want to catch up if critics keep calling it confusing and unwatchable.

-Speaking of unwatchable shows with a connection to Phoebe Waller-Bridge, I liked it at the beginning of the season but the Run finale was really, really bad. It’s actually kind of shocking how far this show went off-course.

–Christopher Nolan‘s Tenet runtime is reportedly 3 hour 15 min. Meh, at this point what else are we doing?

-I was very charmed by The Lovebirds, starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani, now out on Netflix.

–Spike Lee‘s new film about Vietnam vets, Da 5 Bloods, drops on Netflix in June. Here’s the trailer:

-I’m really liking how creative magazines are getting when it comes to photo shoots with their socially distanced subjects. Robert Pattinson took his own pics for GQ, as did Naomi Campbell for Essence, a Vanity Fair photographer shot Janelle Monae through a Zoom conference call, and now Vanity Fair used a drone to shoot Catherine O’Hara lounging in her yard.

–Jennifer Lawrence joined Amy Schumer for the latest episode of her quarantine cooking show, and said she considers white wine “mainly for sluts.” ‘Kay.

–Lana Del Rey, what are you talking about?!? “There has to be a place in feminism for women who look and act like me” is not a sentence a white girl has any business writing. And to throw Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé under the bus while she’s at it? Good lord.

–John Krasinski‘s viral series Some Good News has been sold to CBS All Access following a massive bidding war— which doesn’t really feel like good news. It was a nice thing he was doing during quarantine but selling it feels…kinda gross? He’s not even going to be the host so what exactly did he sell, the concept of feel-good segments?

-Chef Kristin O’Connor was spotted at Bradley Cooper‘s place, sparking romance rumours.

–Jaime King‘s filed for divorce and asked for a temporary restraining order against her husband.

–Courtney Love gave Cameron Crowe an unreleased Nirvana song to use in Vanilla Sky and told him to “hide it in your movie somewhere.” So he did.

-Parenthood’s Sarah Ramos keeps partnering with her actor friends to recreate scenes from movies and they’re all great! Here’s her and Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien doing the “you better lawyer up, asshole” scene from The Social Network.

-This is a good takedown of the NYT’s recent takedown of Ronan Farrow.

-I’m surprised ABC canceled Emergence, Single Parents, Bless This Mess and Schooled seeing as creating new TV shows is so up in the air.

–Harvey Weinstein‘s former assistant, Rowena Chiu, broke her NDA for this Variety interview.

–Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli have finally agreed to plead guilty in the college admissions case.

-I don’t think I’ll be able to listen to Marc Maron’s latest podcast episode, in which he pays tribute to his partner Lynn Shelton. Just reading about it is making me teary.

–Jude Law is expecting baby No. 6. The weirdest thing about this story is the photos of them just walking around London with no masks or distancing.

-TIFF’s Stay at Home Cinema series just kicked things up a notch with some great gets. Tonight, they’re doing a live chat on Facebook/Youtube with Rian Johnson to discuss Looper before a live-watch on Crave, and on Wednesday they’re doing one with Kate Winslet on Sense and Sensibility.

-It looks like there’s a face in the background of Jennifer Lopez’s photo and now I can’t unsee it.

-Riverdale actor Skeet Ulrich says the reason he’s leaving the hit series is because he “got bored creatively.” I mean, you can say a lot about that show, but “boring” really isn’t it.

-This is an interesting piece about Alison Roman, Bon Appetit, and the whiteness of the food media.

–Peter Dinklage and Jason Momoa are teaming up for a vampire-themed buddy comedy, which sounds fantastic.

–Mandy Patinkin and his wife being quizzed by their son about pop culture is never not funny.

–Matthew Rhys might be losing it but at least he’s giving us funny videos in the process.

-This article on Keira Knightley’s Atonement dress is so, so good.

-When the Old Guard’s longest-living member (Charlize Theron) realizes that Nile (Kiki Layne) — the first new immortal like them to appear in ages — has finally come into her power, she sets out to teach her what it means to be one of them in the trailer for Netflix’s The Old Guard.

Matthew McConaughey: Mask Up To Keep On Livin’

-I love how Matthew McConaughey keeps talking and posting about the need to wear a mask. Whether he’s making silly videos or showing off his Spanish, he’s committed to the cause. I wonder if it will catch on more now that Los Angeles is requiring masks when outside, which means we’re about to see a whole lot more celebs wearing them.

–Beyoncé shared a new video of the mobile Covid-19 testing sites she helped set up with her mother in their hometown of Houston.

-This Twitter thread of mundane celebrity encounters is an unexpected delight on a gloomy day. When I first moved to Toronto, I once saw Joshua Jackson coming towards me on the sidewalk and I literally stopped in the middle of his path to gawk at him. He smiled and walked around me while I blushed myself to death. Good times!

-The thread has since spun off to fake Diane Keaton sightings, which is equally delightful.

-Don’t worry about Mary-Kate Olsen; her prenup is as ironclad as her commitment to saying “prune” when posing.

-Some gossip tidbits from André Leon Talley’s memoir are starting to roll in as the publication date nears.

-I have not watched Survivor in years but my god, this season was exactly what I needed. The gameplay was outstanding and the best player won (though it is disturbing that there’s only been 3 female winners in the past 15 seasons).

-I guess I wasn’t the only one who liked it. Last night’s finale hits 5-season highs in the ratings.

–Ellen Degeneres is reportedly sad that everyone thinks she’s mean. There’s a really easy solution to this: be nicer.

-Do I have to know who all these Southern Charm people who are causing drama are? Guys, I’m just so tired.

-Tragic: Melissa Etheridge’s 21-year-old son has died following an opioid addiction.

-If you ever want to feel bad about humanity, just follow superhero fandom chatter. Earlier this week, it was Batman fans getting angry at Robert Pattinson for not working out while he’s on a break from filming, and now the CW released a poster for their new Superman show on Twitter and the replies are a garbage fire.

-Speaking of Superman, the CW has pushed the return of most shows to January (except Supernatural, which will air its final episodes this fall.) We’re going to be hit with an intense TV dry spell very soon.

-Hulu’s The Great (and particularly Elle Fanning’s performance) is getting great reviews.

–Margo Martindale breaking into tears when talking about her character on The Americans made me feel things. Uncool, man.

–John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer talked about filming their first kiss on The Office, and said they were forbidden to talk or text before shooting it so that when they saw each other on set it would be the first time in a while.

-Normal People’s on-set intimacy coordinator talks about how she coached the actors through those very revealing scenes.

-The Good Fight has been renewed. Bless.

–Matt Damon says his oldest daughter, who is in college in NYC, got covid early on but has recovered.

-A bunch of celebrities mocked the “Imagine” video with a rendition of “Eat It.”

-A ill teen falls in love with a drug dealer in the Babyteeth trailer. Ben Mendelsohn gets to use his real accent!
