Ryan Reynolds Wants to #PlankTheCurve

Ryan Reynolds #PlankTheCurve video made me laugh. “I think in times of crisis I think we all know that it’s the celebrities we count on most.” He nominated a bunch of other Canadians, including Seth Rogen who was quick to respond.

-Wow, Jeremy Renner just unlocked a new level of trash. Maybe he can use some of the money he made with those cringe-y Jeep videos on his kid.

-Another day, another round of Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas pap shots.

Lisa Loeb just recorded a clip of her singing “Stay” to tell people to stay home.

-The kids of Stranger Things got together (hopefully awhile ago) for an episode of Carpool Karaoke. It’s weird that they know all the words to “Tiny Dancer.”

-Love Is Blind has been renewed by Netflix for two more seasons and they need to rush production because that is the mindless fun the world needs right now.

Daniel Dae Kim is on the mend!

Gwyneth Paltrow thinks we should all be spending this time writing the next great novel and maybe learn a new language. I changed from leggings into slightly fancier leggings. Is that not enough?!

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are self-isolating together in Miami.

-Amazon has made a big part of their streaming kids content free for all on Prime. Here in Canada, Rogers recently opened up a bunch of kids and movie channels. CBS All Access just released Star Trek: Picard for everyone. I’m loving this trend.

-Elle Fanning is determined to rule Russia in The Great trailer.

Lizzo Slays on the Cover of Elle

lizzo-elle-cover

-Usually the best month for magazine covers is September, but as good as last month was, the October covers are KILLING it. We have Lizzo in Elle talking about representation (“I didn’t love who I was. And the reason I didn’t love who I was is because I was told I wasn’t lovable by the media, by [people at] school, by not seeing myself in beauty ads”),  Jennifer Aniston on Instyle talking about turning 50 (“I don’t feel any different. Things aren’t shutting down in any way. I feel physically incredible. So it’s weird that it’s all of a sudden getting telegraphed in a way that’s like, ‘You look amazing for your age.’ I think we need to establish some etiquette around that dialogue and verbiage”), Tom Holland in GQ talking about Gwyneth Paltrow being confused by the MCU (“I mean, I always know what movie I’m in”), Halsey in Cosmopolitan talking about coming to terms with public perception (“I shared a lot about myself, assuming the world would be kind. And that hasn’t quite been the case”), Lupita Nyong’o in Vanity Fair talking about how her team was nervous the day of the Oscars (“Beyoncé did the trick. We danced it off, we had a good laugh, and then we sat down. You’ve got to let the oxygen in”), Harry Styles on The Face talking about wanting to act (“Music, you try and put so much of yourself into it; acting, you’re trying to totally disappear in whoever you’re being”), and Camila Cabello in Elle talking about her relationship with Shawn Mendes (“I don’t know; people can say whatever they want to say. They can speculate, but at the same time, we are going to live our own lives, enjoy it, and fall for each other like nobody is watching”).

-Meanwhile, Shawn and Camila were spotted last night in Toronto near Portland Variety (not by paps, but by regular folks). We’re not really a pap town until tonight when TIFF starts — and I’m pretty sure King W is his home base when he’s in town because that’s where he’s often spotted.

-Whomp whomp: Jeremy Renner has deactivated his app.

Nicki Minaj took to Twitter today to announce she’s retiring from music to focus on starting a family.

-Stranger Things kiddo Millie Bobby Brown is getting her own beauty line and while I wish her all the best, this feels like TOO MUCH.

Anne Hathaway is showing off her chalet-style country house for Architectural Digest.

-This Liz Phair interview is really, really good, mostly because there’s such a push and pull between her and the interviewer, especially when Ryan Adams comes up.

Lana Del Rey is the latest musician to take to Twitter to bitch at a professional critic. What makes this suck even harder than usual is the article she’s referencing is really, really good.

Lil Nas X’s new video is cute. I have no idea what his explanation means, but I think he’s f***ing with us. Maybe?

-The Mad About You reboot trailer doesn’t actually feature any footage from the Mad About You reboot.

-Hey, I Kickstarted this movie!

Dakota Fanning is defending her new film, in which she plays a British orphan raised Muslim in Ethiopia.

Brad Pitt says Quentin Tarantino is thinking about a streaming version of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that would expand the film into several episodes and add cut footage. “It’s a pretty arousing idea.”

-Here’s the Just Mercy trailer, starring Michael B Jordan, Jamie Foxx and Brie Larson. It’s from the guy who did Shortbus 12 and I really wanted to see it at TIFF but I just couldn’t make it work.

Sterling K. Brown stars in the first trailer for the buzzy Waves. I chose this movie on a lark when I was picking my TIFF tickets without knowing anything about it other than I liked the director, and its since premiered at the Telluride Film Festival to rapturous reviews.

Jeremy Renner Releases a Song, Confuses the Internet

-Ohmygod Jeremy Renner just released a sludgerock power ballad and it’s…something. Definitely does *not* slap. What a gift to take us into the long weekend!

-I kind of love that the hottest pop star of the summer is a 17-year-old who refuses to be sexualized. Billie Eilish says she wears baggy clothes on purpose: “What I like about just dressing like I’m 800 sizes bigger than I am is it kind of gives nobody the opportunity to judge what your body looks like. I don’t want to give anyone the excuse of judging…I want layers and layers and layers. And I want to be mysterious. You don’t know what’s underneath, and you don’t know what’s on top.”

-Whatever his reputation, Jake Gyllenhaal gives good Instagram.
