Chris Evans Helps Betty White, Wins the Internet

chris evans betty white

-Captain America himself Chris Evans made the entire internet ovulate when he jumped up to escort Betty White up the stairs at last night’s PCAs.

-Speaking of the PCAs, Viola Davis expertly shaded the New York Times in her PCA acceptance speech.

Chris Pratt didn’t make it to last night’s People’s Choice Awards, but he appeared in the opening skit with wife Anna Faris, who hosted.

-The PCAs are beyond pointless and its online voting system means the gongs just end up going to whichever show/movie has the most fervent fandom but I’m still glad Jane The Virgin and The Flash won, especially if it means more people will watch The CW.

-Speaking of CW stars, Stephen Amell continues to use his Facebook page to do amazing things for charity.

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin are giving their relationship another go, according to People (which basically means according to their publicists).

-I really liked this article about Taylor Swift’s image strategy when it comes the photos of friends she posts on Instagram.

Jimmy Fallon is on a roll this week. First he inadvertently dissed Nicole Kidman and then he arm-wrestled with Liam Neeson.

-Fargo has added Nick Offerman, Kieran Culkin, Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson and Jean Smart to its S2 cast. All those people are great but I really hope there’s still room for an unknown to break out like Allison Tolman did in S1. However, the latest issue of EW had a script preview featuring a scene between Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons, and my interest is officially piqued.

Jennifer Lopez may have reunited with that trolly guy whose name I never bothered to learn.

Jessica Chastain shot down Russell Crowe’s ageism remarks (yay!) while Meryl Streep defended him (boo!).

-This is flames: Alan Sepinwall reviewed every episode of The Wire twice, once for newbies, once for veterans.

Phylicia Rashad says she was misquoted when she defended Bill Cosby, but her “explanation” doesn’t really help matters.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is expecting her second child with the dude from Revenge.

Chris Pratt told Ellen the cutest story about his son. “He’ll say, ‘Hm, I thought about it and no thanks, Dad, Not right now,’ and I’m like, ‘HE’S SO POLITE! What am I supposed to do?'”

-Also, Chris “randomly” showed up to Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and it was amazing.

-I really liked this article with Wes Anderson’s cinematographer talking about how he shot nine iconic scenes.

-The people behind Serial have responded to Kevin Urick and The Intercept interviews. Good for them. The tone of that last article was so petulant.

Drake continues to make all of the rest of us here feel like bad Torontonians.

-The final four episodes of Parenthood begin airing tonight. I really liked this article on how it’s one of the last family-centred dramas left, especially since it references the wonderful and underappreciated Once and Again. (Most O&A eps are on YouTube, including one of my favourite hours of television ever — and seeing as it features Mischa Barton, that’s really saying something!)

Olivia Wilde is back from the dead in first trailer for The Lazarus Effect, which seems like Flatliners: The Sequel.

The Voices trailer makes it seem way better than the actually movie is. Blame Anna Kendrick.

Feast Your Eyes on Amal Alamuddin’s Wedding Dress

Amal Alamuddin's wedding dress

-It’s here: Amal Alamuddin‘s wedding dress. It’s a bit too poufy and traditional for my tastes, but I can’t deny she’s gorg.

-Also, check out the sparkly fringed dress she wore to the rehearsal.

Jennifer Love Hewitt once bought Matt Damon a bed even though she’s never met him, which isn’t weird at all.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan had a double-date with Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara. It’s a wonder the eyeballs of their fellow restaurant guests didn’t spontaneously combust from over exposure to DNA perfection.

This headline says Halle Berry shopped ’till she dropped. Let’s hope she sought medical attention.

-Walmart says Tracy Morgan is to blame for the devastating injuries because he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt with their truck his his limo. Yeah, because seatbelts in limos are a thing.

Denzel Washington is being all kinds of charming on his press tour for The Equalizer. He does a pretty mean Jay Z.

Taylor Swift, who once said she wasn’t a feminist, is praising Emma Watson for changing her mind.

-Speaking of feminism, it’s a bad week to be a woman. Not only does the worst TV show of the season premiere tomorrow (just say no, people),  but Adam Levine devoted a whole music video to the joys of stalking. It’s getting the criticism it deserves.

-Speaking of new TV shows, I hated the beginning of Selfie but it got better.

-In other TV shows premiering this week, this review of Manhattan Love Story is amazing. The first sentence: “Do douchelords deserve love?”

Liam Hemsworth opened up about ex Miley Cyrus: “There’s no bad blood there.”

Ben Affleck’s kids couldn’t care less about him playing Batman. “If I was doing the sequel to Frozen, I would be a hero.”

Mindy Kaling found the only other person as enthusiastic as her to dance with: Elmo.

-After facing criticism, Lena Dunham decided to pay the opening acts on her book tour.

-Here’s the first trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson‘s highly anticipated new movie Inherent Vice, starring Joaquin Phoenix.

Ariana Grande Reportedly a “Monster” During Mag Photo Shoot

-Another day, another story about Ariana “Only Shoot My Left Side” Grande being a diva — this time on the set of her Marie Claire cover shoot. (Her rep says it ain’t so, of course.)

-With Modern Family returning tonight, this news couldn’t come at a worse time: Sarah Hyland was granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend after he reportedly abused her. After some scary behaviour from him, she reportedly asked TV mom Julie Bowen to come to her house and help her end the relationship, which allegedly made him freak out even more. What is it with the kids on this show?

Kristen Bell says her anti-paparazzi campaign actually worked and paps don’t bother her anymore. Oh, so I guess now it’s cool to share your private moments with the world in a Samsung commercial then? Yeah, I’m still bitter.

Chris Pratt’s SNL promos bode well.

Jeremy Renner and Sonni Pacheco (the Canadian model with whom he had a baby last year) have secretly tied the knot. Anyone else confused by this?

-Also shocking: Amber Rose just filed for divorce from Wiz Khalifa. Whaaaa?

-I totally agree with this reviewer who thinks CeCe should usurp Jess as the main character on New Girl.

-I loved and adored Pride And Prejudice And Zombies but the journey to adapt it has been incredibly rocky. News that Game of Thrones costars Lena Headey and Charles Dance have signed on to the film is a good sign, though. (I really, really hope she’s playing Caroline Bingley.)

-Oh jeez. Your secret boyfriend Idris Elba just announced terrible-sounding plans for a Mandela-inspired album.

-Oh jeez squared: Miles Teller just sh*t all over his role in Divergent: “I was feeling dead inside; I’d taken the film for business reasons.”

-Watching Jamie Dornan playing a twisted killer on The Fall didn’t just mess up audiences; during an interview with Gillian Anderson to promote the second season (yes!), he says the role has left him “a bit scarred.”

-I love this lookback on Lost and how rewatching it underlines just how much TV networks have given up on risks, spectacle and twisty characters.

Kerry Washington didn’t really seem to understand the “lie” part while playing Box of Lies with Jimmy Kimmel last night.

-Just in case you needed another reason to love Norman Reedus (what’s wrong with you?!), he recalls a time when he refused to play Jennifer Love Hewitt’s boyfriend in Heartbreakers.

-Just one day after he woke up to find an intruder in his house, a naked woman was found wandering around Keanu Reeves’ home. Whoa.

Emma Watson‘s feminist campaign has already gotten support from Tom Hiddleston, Russell Crowe, Simon Pegg, Chris Colfer and more.

Laggies was one of the movies I liked (but didn’t love) at this year’s TIFF. Keira Knightley killed it, though. Here’s the UK trailer for it (it’s apparently called Say When over there, even though Laggies sounds so much more British).
