-My god, with every new detail about the shooting on the Rust movie set, it gets more awful. Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza was hurt in rehearsals for a scene with a gun involving Alec Baldwin. There were some unconfirmed posts on social media suggesting the crew had previously complained about conditions on the set, and now the LA Times is reporting that a half-dozen camera crew workers walked off the set earlier in the day to protest working conditions, and they were replaced by non-union workers. A source told the Times that there were two misfires on the prop gun on Saturday and one the previous week, and “there was a serious lack of safety meetings on this set.”

Baldwin, who must be wrecked from this, tweeted a statement: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

Kieran Culkin on His Succession Success

Kieran Culkin‘s THR cover story is delightful. He opens up about his strange celebrity childhood, his fears about fame, and why everyone on the Succession set loves Sarah Snook.

-I liked this interview with Julianna Margulies on joining The Morning Show. “I went to Sarah Lawrence college. I think if there isn’t a better place to learn about what being gay is, I don’t know.”

-This article about Matthew Rhys on a boat is so very charming.

-Oh god. THR’s new story on how Hollywood is divided on vaccines includes a bit about how Letitia Wright, who is currently reprising her role as Princess Shuri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as it films in Atlanta, has reportedly continued to express anti-vaccine skepticism on the set of the film.

Britney Spears‘ boyfriend Sam Asghari seems to be encouraging her that she return to the stage. Should she, though?

Emily Ratajkowski says the story about Robin Thicke allegedly groping her while shooting the Blurred Lines video was “frustrating” because that passage from her book “was leaked” against her will. “I feel like it just turns into a clickbait frenzy, and all of a sudden words like ‘sexual assault’ and ‘allegations’ are getting thrown around rather than people reading the actual essay, so, again, I’m just looking forward to when people will be able to hear things in my own words.”

Jake Gyllenhaal was talking about shooting sex scenes with Jennifer Aniston in The Good Girl and explained that for intimate scenes, a pillow was placed between the actors. “The pillow technique was used. That was just preemptive and used generally always when actually in a horizontal place in that movie…I think that was actually a Jennifer suggestion. She was very kind to suggest it before we began. She was like, ‘I’m putting a pillow here.'” Smart!

Zoë Kravitz wears a fur vest on the cover of Another magazine

-In a new interview with Another, Zoë Kravitz is branching out from acting and working on a solo album with Jack Antonoff, as well as finishing her directorial debut, Pussy Island. The accompanying photos are a little more topless than I need, because apparently I’m turning into my mother…

Aaron Sorkin spoke about the downfall of producer Scott Rudin. “First of all, I have my own experience with Scott, and it’s a higher class of bullying, but I get it.” (I’m more interested by the fact that Josh Charles, who starred in Sorkin’s Sports Night, does not seem to like the interview.)

This whole thread on Ellen Pompeo is eye-opening, and very much incongruent to how she presents herself as an ally. I know this onset behavior is common (and with actors much lower on the callsheet) but I still can’t believe she volunteered that Denzel story up in a podcast, much less that she did so at the same time a tell-all book is dropping that doesn’t seem to paint her in a great light. Like, why?

-To say the reviews for Venom: Let There Be Carnage are mixed would be kind. It’s currently 61% on RottenTomatoes (a drop of 10% since I looked this morning). Some outlets, like the L.A. Times and the Washington Post, gave it raves, but a lot of critics are piling on the venom, calling it a ‘ridiculous mess’ and a ‘porn tentacle fest’ that feels like ‘the mold in the Avengers’ shower.’
