Rihanna Gets Colourful on Harper’s Bazaar Cover

Rihanna Harper’s Bazaar

Rihanna looks amazing in Chanel, Dior and Givenchy Haute Couture in her new Harper’s Bazaar photo shoot. I cannot stop looking at these photos.

-Speaking of amazing photo shoots, Keiynan Lonsdale in Vogue took my breath away.

-Time’s 100 most influential people issue is here, which features Taylor Swift (with a tribute written by Shawn Mendes), Sandra Oh (with a tribute written by Shonda Rhimes), Dwayne Johnson (with a tribute written by Gal Gadot), Regina King (with a tribute written by Voila Davis), Brie Larson (with a tribute written by Tessa Thompson), Lady Gaga (with a tribute written by Celine Dion), Emilia Clarke (with a tribute written by Emma Thompson) and more.

Lori Loughlin‘s camp took her sob story to People. Because of course.

Beyonce shocked everyone by dropping a surprise live album to coincide with her new Netflix documentary, ensuring that no one in the entire world did any work today.

-Look, I’m fully aware that this entire article was likely ghost-written by her PR team, but I’m still here for all the Jennifer Garner comeback pieces.

Madonna‘s new single “Medellin” is here. It took a few listens but now I dig it.

Britney Spears‘ mother is not doing much to reassure us that her daughter is fine. She posted about how “the battle is not over” and then liked posts about Britney being put in a mental care facility against her will.  What’s happening??

-Ugh, when asked about Rey’s parents, J.J. Abrams said Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will show us “there’s more to the story than you’ve seen.” This is why I’m concerned with Abrams regaining control. He adores his mystery boxes, but the reason that The Last Jedi was so powerful is because Rian Johnson introduced the notion that anyone could be a Jedi — even if you’re parents are nobody. It opened up the Force (kind of like the Buffy finale opened up slayerhood). Why destroy that, especially in the final chapter of a trilogy that established it?

-Huzzah! Emma Thompson and Paul Rudd will host SNL this season.

Louis Tomlinson broke his silence following his sister’s sudden death to thank fans for their support.

-I really liked actor John Bradley’s take on Sam Tarly’s scenes in the Game of Thrones premiere. Sam is not only one of the purest characters, he’s often also the audience surrogate. So if Sam doesn’t like Dany, that doesn’t bode well for her.

-Meanwhile, the Gay of Thrones recaps by Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness continue to be the most entertaining thing about the show.

-I love The Cut editors’ review of Adam Driver’s new Broadway play based on his hotness, which includes lines like “it’s a really immense, thigh-forward experience” and “I was so flustered by his quads that at one point I spilled all of the contents of my purse on the floor.”

-Dead to Me, Netflix’s new show starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, is getting good reviews.

-Oof. The final trailer for X Men: Dark Phoenix does nothing to convince me that this film won’t be a mess.

Taraji P. Henson Talks Empire & the Art of the Hustle in Marie Claire

-Wow, I adore Taraji P. Henson’s new Marie Claire cover.

-First Armie Hammer dragged James Woods on Twitter, and now Amber Tamblyn is getting in on the action.  She originally tweeted “James Woods tried to pick me and my friend up at a restaurant once. He wanted to take us to Vegas. ‘I’m 16’ I said. ‘Even better’ he said.” After he denied it she tweeted “Calling me liar, James? This is now far from over. That I can promise” and is now RT’ing other people’s gross stories about him.  I love this.

Prince Harry reportedly enjoyed an early birthday celebration this past weekend with Meghan Markle in London. He turns 33 on Friday.

-Another day, yet another Star Wars shakeup. Days after Colin Trevorrow  parted ways with the franchise, J.J. Abrams  was announced as the new writer/director of Episode IX.  Not the most inspired or diverse choice, but I get why they wanted to go the safe, competent route after all the disarray. The change means the premiere date has been pushed seven months to Dec 2019.

Russell Brand wants to make amends with ex-wife Katy Perry, who he dumped via text. “I’m willing and open for reconciliation, any kind. Because if we can’t overcome our relatively trivial personal disputes in this world, what hope is there for us?” How big of him.

Louis C.K.‘s new film I Love You, Daddy and I, Tonya (which reportedly features an incredible Margot Robbie performance) landed the top deals of this year’s TIFF market so far.

-Meanwhile, while promoting the film in Toronto Louis C.K. was asked by the NYT about those rumors of sexual misconduct with female comics, and he shut it down. “I’m not going to answer to that stuff, because they’re rumors…If you actually participate in a rumor, you make it bigger and you make it real.”

Michelle Williams and Busy Phillips reminiscing about all the actors they kissed on Dawson’s Creek is kind of the best.

Randy Jackson says that his sister Janet’s divorce arose from an “abusive situation,” and claims she suffered “verbal abuse” and felt like “a prisoner in her own home” during her marriage to businessman Wissam Al Mana.

Kristen Bell played bingo, had wheelchair races and ate dinner with thousands of nursing home residents who evacuated to her Orlando hotel during Irma.

-Good on Glamour Mag for fighting back against hateful Instagram comments about one of their employees.

-In a rare political post, Selena Gomez asked her millions of followers to defend DACA.

-Meanwhile, Elle Fanning learned the hard way what happens when Selena tags you on Instagram.

-I always have time to watch a new Radiohead video.

-The fact that Syfy added the founder of BGN to their advisory board makes me want to watch Syfy shows.

Jason Mamoa posted an Instgram video of him on a climbing wall and it’s rul nice.

-This footage of Rami Malek performing as Freddie Mercury is pretty promising.

-My friends and I are really split one The Florida Project (I loved it, they didn’t), but Drake just endorsed the film so I’m really feeling better about my opinion now…

-Here’s the first trailer for James Franco‘s The Disaster Artist. He’s getting raves for his performance.

-A new trailer has officially dropped for Alexander Payne’s Downsizing. The reviews coming out of TIFF for this one are also pretty stellar.

Vanity Fair’s Star Wars Issue Offers Lots of New Clues

Star Wars Vanity Fair cover

-May the 4th be with you, indeed. Vanity Fair’s new Star Wars photos solve the mystery behind Lupita Nyong’o and Adam Driver‘s  characters. Not sure how I’m feeling about Lupita’s character being purely CGI…

Gwendoline Christie as the Chrometrooper is totally badass, though.

-Also in the issue, J.J. Abrams reveals he wanted to kill off Jar Jar Binks. Who could possible object to that?

Sofia Vergara has broken her silence on the ongoing saga involving ex Nick Loeb and their frozen embryos.

-Here’s the first single off David Duchovny’s new album. While I was cringe-listening to it with my headphones on, my coworker asked why I was blushing, so that should tell you something…

-This story about how a lawyer fell in love with Michael Douglas’ son and smuggled drugs into prison for him is a good/crazy read.

-Ugh. Sleepy Hollow is dropping Orlando Jones. They totally misused that character in season 2 but that could easily be fixed. And that man understands and interacts with fandom like no other actor I’ve ever seen.

-If you ever wanted to watch Sean “Diddy” Combs have sex, his new NSFW perfume ad is for you. Also, what’s wrong with you?

-I, like the rest of the universe, saw Avengers: Age of Ultron this weekend, and while there was lots to like about it, I hated hated hated what they did with Black Widow. After her awesome introduction in the first movie, she was reduced to making googly eyes at a dude and sing “lullabies”? Super disappointing, especially since I expect more from Joss Whedon. This EW article sums up my issues nicely.

-Speaking of disappointing Joss Whedon news, he just quit Twitter. Sigh.

-In other blockbuster movie news, Harley Quinn and the rest of the Suicide Squad have been revealed — and the internet is underwhelmed. This is the second time in a week that David Ayer has tweeted out character art and been burned by it.

-A Toronto woman saw Ricky Gervais trying to hail a cab and offered him a ride — which he took.

Busy Philips posted a hilarious Instagram pic with the drunk guy she met on a plane. It sounded a lot like when Liz Lemon met Oprah.

-Watch Justin Timberlake play a lime in this very strange tequila commercial. I…don’t get it.

-It looks like Amy Schumer is going to blow up the interwebs again with her 12 Angry Men bit, which debuts next week. Until then, her New Yorker profile is great.

Nikki Reed is posting cutesy pics from her Mexico honeymoon with Ian Somerhalder. The paparazzi is also helping out.

David Beckham finally got Instagram, and his first order of business was to post Spice Girl reunion pics. He’s a quick study!

-Just when you thought the Madonna/Drake kiss couldn’t get any weirder comes her comments about it.

-The Absolutely Anything trailer, starring Simon Pegg, is a total delight.
