The Tenet Promo Train Chugs On

tenet ew cover robert pattinson

-Promo for Tenet is continuing as if the movie will still open next month, with John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Elizabeth Debicki interviewed by EW. (From the photos I assumed they were nowhere near each other during the cover shoot but the video suggests otherwise.)

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves opened up about their philanthropic work to help students in need in the new issue of Town & Country.

-Lots of baby news today: Michelle Williams and Thomas Kail have welcomed their first child together.

Kristen Wiig and fiancé Avi Rothman welcomed twins via surrogate earlier this year.

-In other happy news, Raven-Symone married Miranda Maday in a surprise ceremony today.

-I didn’t think it would happen but here we are: Danny Masterson of That ’70s Show and The Ranch has been charged with raping three women at his home between 2001 and 2003. He is maintaining his innocence. Leah Remini, who put a spotlight on the accusations by interviewing the women on her show last summer, reacted on Twitter, saying “This is just the beginning Scientology, your days of getting away with it is coming to an end!”

Jennifer Lawrence joined Twitter to issue a statement about the death of Breonna Taylor.

Lonnie Chavis, one of the child stars of This Is Us, has written an essay in People about the experience of growing up Black.

Angelina Jolie penned an emotional piece about the refugee crisis for Time.

-Glad to see I’m not the only one who think the CW’s new blocking trolls policy is too little, too late. I noticed the Candice Patton hate from trolls since the second she was cast, and I didn’t even follow The Flash fandom. I was more tuned into Arrow’s and saw replies to the official accounts that were absolutely brutal to Emily Bett Rickards. It also extends to how CW actress’ roles are written.

-Ah poop. Racist tweets from Megan Amram have surfaced. She apologized but jeez that’s a bad look.

-Sopranos star James Gandolfini once said he was ready to “beat the f**k out” of Harvey Weinstein. Of only.

Fiona Apple is donating all proceeds from TV and movie placements for two songs from her new album to charity for the next two years. Royalties from “Shameika” will go to the Harlem Children’s Zone, while the “Heavy Balloons” proceeds will go to Seeding Sovereignty. Showrunners and music supervisors should stick these songs in everywhere. I don’t want to turn on a TV show or watch a movie trailer without hearing “Shameika said I had potential!”

-A spinoff of Daria has just been ordered, which makes my Gen X heart happy.

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly appear to be going strong – they’re now Instagram official.

Lady Gaga was out shopping with her boyfriend and didn’t want to pose with a fan for a photo (understandable) so she gave the fan her leather jacket off her back instead.

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune is heading to Hungary for reshoots.

Bryce Dallas Howard makes her feature directorial debut with her new Apple+ documentary, Dads, which features Will Smith, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Neil Patrick Harris, Judd Apatow and more.

Dwayne Johnson on Fame and Fans

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson talking about how one bad experience made him change how he deals with fans who approach him for selfies or autographs is really worth a listen. “It took all of 30 seconds for me to realize that I had an opportunity to make somebody feel good and I made them feel bad and what an a-hole that made me…Now they all get the same treatment and that treatment is gratitude. The alternative to that is I go back to having seven bucks in my pocket and nobody giving a sh-t to get my autograph or get my picture. On top of that, here’s the truth. Taking a picture, a selfie, or signing an autograph is literally one of the easiest parts of my job. I do a lot of things that are a lot harder.”

-The bloom continues to fall off the rose when it comes to Ellen Degeneres‘ public reputation. Variety posted a story last night about her show’s crew members (some of whom have been with her for 17 years) being outraged over their treatment during coronavirus. They received no communication about their hours or pay for over a month. She further angered them by bringing in non-union crew members to help with her current at-home taping of the show — which they learned about via social media. “Be kind” indeed.

-People are making fun of January Joneslatest Instagram video but I find this kind of unhinged entertainment delightful.

-Speaking of delightful celebrity quarantine content, Kathryn Hahn and her family did Glengarry Glen Ross with dolls.

-Last night’s Disney Family Singalong on ABC was surprisingly awesome. Ariana Grande harmonized with herself while singing “I Won’t Say I’m in Love” from Hercules, Beyonce made a surprise appearance to sing “When You Wish Upon a Star,” and the cast of High School Musical cast reunited to sing “We’re All In This Together.”

-For the first time in 50 years, San Diego Comic-Con has been cancelled. It’s the right thing to do. Plus, what will movie studios and TV shows have to promote?

-Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has cancelled all her 2020 appearances and concerts.

-Outlander star Sam Heughan sounds like he’s been dealing with a lot of fan harassment and is sick of it. I don’t watch the show so I don’t know much about that fandom, but I’ve certainly seen some people on Twitter get very, very invested in theories about him and his costar dating — and get very, very angry when she married someone else last year.

Fiona Apple released a new album today and the reviews are glowing. Even Pitchfork gave it a rare 10/10. (The title comes from a line Gillian Anderson says in The Fall, which the actress tweeted today.)

-Lucifer season 6 may be in jeopardy over a potential Tom Ellis contract dispute.

-Critics are really liking Mindy Kaling’s new Netflix show.

Martha Stewart is getting flak for telling Seth Meyers that she’s sheltering with her driver, housekeeper and gardener at her estate in the Bedford, N.Y., area and referring to them as her “detainees.” She added “They’re not sick of it yet but when I see the edges fraying, I’ll give them a day off.” Oof.

-Deep fakes are so, so weird but this re-imagined Parks & Rec intro with every character replaced by Ron is very clever.

Meghan Markle appeared on a video call to raise funds for the delivery of food to poor, elderly and vulnerable Londoners during the coronavirus epidemic.

-Speaking of Zoom calls, Seth Rogen showed Jimmy Kimmel how he likes to prank people in video meetings.

-Here’s the first full trailer for HBO’s Perry Mason.

Zendaya, Margot Robbie Shout Out Their Glam Squads

Zendaya and Margot Robbie Glam Squads

-I always like The Hollywood Reporter’s annual star stylists issue. Check out the people responsible for glamming up Zendaya, Margot Robbie, Zazie Beetz, Jennifer Lopez, Emilia Clarke, Lupita Nyong’o and more.

-Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer covers Variety’s Emmy issue, and still can’t seem to believe she won.

Woody Harrelson shows Billie Eilish around in the new SNL promo.

-This interview with Renee Zellweger is very good, mostly because she’s so optimistic about life and love. “People are cynical and they’ll say this kind of thing doesn’t work and I totally disagree. Look at Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, for cryin’ out loud!”

-In her ongoing trademark battle with a wedding planner, Beyoncé called Blue Ivy a “cultural icon.” I mean, she’s not wrong.

Jonah Hill reportedly wants double what Robert Pattinson is getting for the Batman movie, and also wants to choose whether he plays the Riddler or Penguin. That’s…not how this works.

-Step Up…to motherhood. Jenna Dewan and boyfriend Steve Kazee are expecting a baby.

-One of the few new fall TV shows that is getting buzz is Stumptown, starring Cobie Smulders, which premieres tonight. You can watch the first four minutes here.

-Fleabag’s Hot Priest just landed a new Showtime adaptation of The Talented Mr. Ripley. You love to see it.

-This Fiona Apple interview happened when she reached out because the writer (via a Hotmail account!) because the writer was one of the few who noticed that Variety had dubbed an interview with Hustlers director Lorene Scafaria. What follows is a fun, freewheeling conversation about the state of the music industry (“The whole music scene, which — not bullshit anymore. It’s the bull who ate that shit and then shit it out again, and then ate that shit and then shit it out again, and then ate that shit and then shit it out again, and then ate that shit and then shit it out again, and now it’s that bullshit”), what her life looks like these days (“I live here in my house with my friend Zelda and her dog, and we just hang out. We play with dogs and work on our stuff and go out for walks. I have a very simple life”), and a story about meeting JLo in 1996 before she was famous (“JLo’s album hadn’t come out yet, and nobody had started talking about her ass yet — and I swear I saw her and ran to get my sister JUST to show her how beautiful that ass was — and the moment I pointed her out to my sister, JLo turned to speak to someone and her butt was just above table-level, and her butt knocked over someone’s glass of champagne and she didn’t even notice. It was glorious.”).

Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum (aka my BFF) are all reprising their roles for Jurassic Park 3.

-This makes me feel better about having warm feelings for Successsion’s Kendall, who is clearly a monster.

Baby Archie is a cutie!

Harrison Ford is warning us to address the climate crisis before it’s too late. “Stop, for God’s sake, the denigration of science. Stop giving power to people who don’t believe in science, or worse than that, pretend they don’t believe in science for their own self-interest.”

-I have not yet seen Brad Pitt‘s Ad Astra but man, so many people I follow on Twitter HATED it.

-Meanwhile, Brad Pitt is still single despite a report he’s dating holistic healer Sat Hari Khalsa. How do you think he finds dates? It’s not like he’s hitting on women in the produce section of Whole Foods.

-These images of Robert Deniro de-aged spawned a million memes today.

Armie Hammer plays a bartender who’s life gets turned upside down after he picks up a phone left behind at his bar in the trailer for Wounds.
