Ryan Reynolds Gets Duped By Hugh Jackman & Jake Gyllenhaal

-This Ryan Reynolds tweet made me laugh a lot.

-Speaking of Jake Gyllenhaal, he’s reportedly dating a 22-year-old model. Sure.

-Wait, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas had two more wedding receptions this week? Is this just their life now?

-An old video of Chris Rock, Louis CK and Ricky Gervais freely talking about using the n-word on stage has resurfaced, and people are not happy. (Jerry Seinfeld was also part of the conversation, but acquitted himself well by seeming uncomfortable and refusing to repeat the word: “You’ve found the humour of it. I haven’t found it, nor do I seek it.”)

-On the Tonight Show, Felicity Jones attempted some Beyonce moves and it went better than you’d expect.

-Old Beyonce songs were leaked on Spotify somehow, and everyone melted down thinking they were new. (They were not. Bah humbug!)

-Speaking of new music, Rihanna confirmed in an IG comment to a fan that she’s releasing new music in 2019.

-This video of Michelle Obama and Jimmy Fallon surprising people when the elevator doors open is a delight!

-The original stars of 90210 were all spotted having coffee together after a meeting in LA, leading to speculation that a reboot is in the works. Sigh. Why not?

Kristen Stewart might have a new girlfriend.

-Uh, did Jessica Mulroney just offer the Daily Mail a look inside her Toronto home? Being Meghan Markle‘s BFF sure is working out for her.

She added: “Someday I’ll tell the world what exactly happened, why it happened and what my life is like today.. but until I’m ready to share that with people please stop prying and making up shit that you know nothing about. I still need space and time to heal.”

Colin Farrell used a recent talk show appearance to shine a spotlight on his friend who’s suffering from Epidermolysis bullosa.

-This is an interesting interview with showrunners over the need for Hollywood to learn how to handle sex scenes better. This is a side effect of peak TV: a bunch of writers/directors are now running TV shows who have no idea deal with people management.

Sandra Bullock‘s new Netflix movie Bird Box isn’t getting great reviews.  According to my Twitter feed, people don’t seem to care.

-This is a good piece about feeling alienated from a lot of the “girl power” messaging at the movies and TV this year. I follow an academic on Twitter who’s summed this phenomenon up perfectly: plastic representation.

-Tell your mother to stop worrying: Mark Harmon‘s rep slammed the “completely false” rumour the actor is leaving NCIS.

-Congrats to Andy Cohen, who announced he’s going to be a father.

Busy Philipps received a call from Oprah on her show last night and broke down in tears. Understandable.

This is tragic. The bass player and tour manager of Indonesian boy band Seventeen are confirmed dead after deadly tsunami hit their beachside performance.

Michael Buble kicked off Carpool Karaoke’s holiday song, which also featured Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Cardi B.

-Yay for the new Catastrophe trailer! The new season starts in January.

-The I’m Not Here trailer is stacked with celebs, including JK Simmons, Mandy Moore, Sebastian Stan and Max Greenfield.

-In the Greta trailer, Chloë Grace Moretz plays a naïve New Yorker who returns a purse she finds on the subway to Isabelle Huppert — and then things get scary.

Brie Larson Is Ready To Save Us as Captain Marvel

Brie Larson Captain Marvel EW

-Everyone was sort of expecting a Captain Marvel trailer to drop today, but instead we got this EW cover and a bunch of new photos of Brie Larson in character. We’ll take it! (I dig the costume.)

-Meanwhile, Brie Larson and Alison Brie are apparently workout buddies. Do you think they call themselves Brie Squared? The Double Bries?

-Doctor Who’s Jodie Whittaker is stunning in Givenchy on the cover of Marie Claire UK.

-In other cover news, Felicity Jones channels 80’s businesswomen on the new cover of Vanity Fair.

Kanye West took to Twitter today to apologize to Drake, saying “Let me start by apologizing for stepping on your release date in the first place,” before shutting down conspiracy theories that claimed West fed Pusha T gossip about Drake’s son for Pusha’s diss track “The Story of Adidon,” saying “I don’t play with the idea of people’s children after I spoke to Wiz [Khalifa] a few years earlier.”

-You’ve probably seen Lucas Hedges by now (he was in Lady Bird, Manchester By the Sea, and Three Billboards), but he’s about to make it huge this fall with three splashy movie roles and his Broadway debut. In a new interview with Vulture, he talks about his self-doubt (“Mostly I felt like every movie I did, I was the worst part of it”), and his sexuality (“Not totally straight, but also not gay and not necessarily bisexual”).

Gwyneth Paltrow‘s GOOP settled its false advertising suit. The lifestyle brand agreed to a $145,000 fine and a five-year injunction for telling women to stick jade eggs up their hoo-has.

-I kind of love that Meghan Markle is wearing pants to appearances, despite what the Queen may think.

-I’m really digging the first full track from Thom Yorke‘s Suspiria score. (My office was listening to KEXP this morning when they aired it, and everyone stopped what they were doing and asked “Is this new Radiohead?!?!”, so that’s a good sign.)

Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are relationship goals.

-I’m too washed to care about all the drama going down on Noah Cyrus and Lil Zan‘s Instagram accounts — but it’s a lot.

-Covert Affairs/Coyote Ugly star Piper Perabo was arrested yesterday for protesting Kavanaugh’s court confirmation.

-The L.A. District Attorney has declined to pursue sex crime cases against Kevin Spacey, Anthony Anderson and Steven Seagal.

-This is an interesting look at how Twitter is helping with people’s careers amid peak TV’s push to diversify writers rooms.

-The are they/aren’t they surrounding Zendaya and Tom Holland is making my head hurt.

-The new season of House of Cards isn’t playing. They’ve already killed off Frank Underwood, according to the new trailer.

-There is a lot going on in the first trailer for American Horror Story: Apocalypse. (Mostly, I’m just hoping Mary Cherry survives the plane crash.)

Reese Witherspoon Gets Her 4th of July On

Reese Witherspoon is looking hella festive today.

-The backlash over Scarlett Johansson being cast in transgender role does not seem to be dying down anytime soon. The more I think about her statement, the angrier I get about it.

-This video of an old dude trying to cop a feel of Mel B during The X Factor is so bad. Especially gross is Simon Cowell‘s immediate attempts to dismiss it.

-I keep forgetting/repressing the fact that Billy Crudup and Naomi Watts are together.

Joshua Jackson talked about why he didn’t hesitate to protest family separation at the US border: “Canadians should be just as outraged.” God damn, Pacey grew up so good!

Felicity Jones got married. I like the honeymoon style way more than the wedding style (though it is very “her”).

-Proof that the Star Wars fandom has been toxic for a long time: actor Ahmed Best says he considered suicide over the backlash and death threats he got over his character, Jar Jar Binks.

-I don’t even read comic books and this Batman wedding stuff is kind of breaking my heart.

Yvette Nicole Brown says she is just “filling in” for Chris Hardwick at Comic-Con, not “jockeying” for his job. Take it!

-Aww, this bums me out: My Big Fat Greek Wedding’s Nia Vardalos and Felicity/Cougar Town’s Ian Gomez have filed for divorce after 23 years of marriage.

-An advertising watchdog found 51 examples of false advertising on GOOP’s website.

-Of all the people who could have defended Morgan Freeman following accusations of sexual harassment made against him by eight women, I didn’t think it would be Suzanne Somers. She said “Well, this probably won’t be real popular, but I think that women…I totally understand the Weinstein and Bill Cosby, that’s like, of course. But you know, like Morgan Freeman’s a big flirt. I know him really well. He sees you and he’ll like your dress and he’ll like your hair. He’ll like a lot of things…I hope the dance doesn’t stop. It’s seduction. It’s flirting. All those things are really fun. So I hope there’s a way we can find a nice medium with that.” Ugh.

-I like that David Foster‘s kids seem to be having fun with his engagement to the much younger Katherine McPhee.

-The video at the bottom of this article of the Set It Up couple setting up people on first dates is so adorable.

-Speaking of Set It Up, I watched it a friend’s house last weekend and couldn’t figure out why it looked so weird. It’s cause her TV has motion smoothing turned on. This makes so much sense now…

-I really enjoyed this interview with Dietland’s Marti Noxon, in which she talks about getting into “toe-to-toe screaming matches” with Sharp Objects director Jean-Marc Vallée, and all the flack she took for Buffy season six. I love that she calls Xander the embodiment of “impotent male anger.” I never realized what a gross character he was until I did a rewatch years later.

-I’m not exactly a crafty person, but man NBC’s Making It with Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman looks like a ton of fun. Now that The Handmaid’s Tale is wrapping up, this is about as heavy as I want my summer TV to get.

-I kinda want to see Skyscraper for some reason? I blame Neve Campbell’s presence.
