Supernatural Coming to an End

-I don’t watch Supernatural and even I’m shocked by the news that it’s ending. I thought that show would outlast us all. It’s making me really curious what The CW’s plan is, as it’s now letting go of a big chunk of its trademark shows: Arrow, Supernatural, iZombie, Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.  In any case, watching the cast get teary while announcing the news got me. Carry on, wayward sons!

–Priyanka Chopra shot down rumours that she’s mad at Meghan Markle for not attending her wedding.

-In honour of Reese Witherspoon‘s birthday, Jennifer Garner posted a video of herself playing sax. There was a costume and everything.

-If you invite Glenn Close to your house for Christmas, she might show up dressed like a sheep. And everyone will just roll with it because she’s Glenn freakin’ Close.

–Diane Kruger opened up about the end of her relationship with Joshua Jackson in a new interview. “I was in such a dark place. I had two really close family deaths that year, I was separating from my partner of 10 years. There was just a lot of darkness and personal loss.”

–David Letterman says he regrets the last part of his Late Show tenure. “Here’s the mistake I made: I stayed on television way too long. It turns out that nobody had the guts to fire me, and I should’ve left 10 years ago.”

-The entire cast of Parks and Rec reunited today for a Paley Fest panel and confirmed that we shouldn’t get our hopes up for a reboot.

-I am never going to see Jordan Peele‘s new movie, Us. Not ever, because I’m a big chicken. But this article on what the ending could mean is really well done. (Spoilers, obvs.)

-Kate Beckinsale just deleted all her Instagram posts, which is a shame because they were reliably delightful. I blame Pete Davidson.

-Speaking of delightful IG feeds, Michelle Pfeiffer knows what she’s doing.

-Netflix is shuffling episode orders, but denies it’s basing it on your sexual identity. That’s not terrifying at all.

-Meanwhile, I like this article on whether or not Netflix can take over the world without turning evil. Let’s hope!

-Netflix is debuting Unicorn Store on April 5, directed by and starring Brie Larson. It debuted last year at TIFF and people seemed to think it was twee but good.

 

Kanye West’s Sunday Service the Hottest Ticket in Hollywood

-I kinda want to go to Kanye West‘s Sunday church service.

-It’s probably not a great sign when even soft celebrity outlets like E! News are doing investigative reports on Prince William and Prince Harry‘s deteriorating relationship.

–Ariana Grande has updated her Pete Davidson-inspired “always” tattoo.

-The first poster for Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time In Hollywood starring Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio has been released, and it’s rul bad. Why are they standing so far apart that one of Pitt’s shoulders doesn’t even fit in the frame? Why is the photoshop so bad that it looks like someone just pasted his face on another person’s body? How does this happen in 2019?

–John Stamos pretended (I hope?) to get a giant Nick Jonas tattoo. I guess that’s one way to take the spotlight off Aunt Becky.

–Dolly Parton wrote “I Will Always Love You” and “Jolene” on the same day? She must have been dealing with some STUFF.

–Reese Witherspoon is having fun with false reports about her and Jennifer Garner being pregnant.

–Kat Von D says she is not a Nazi or an anti-vaxxer in an 11-minute Youtube video.

-Following a damning article which claimed Warner Bros studio chief Kevin Tsujihara promised auditions for an actress he was engaged in a sexual relationship with, Tsujihara is exiting his role.

-This list of reasons why no one will die in Avengers: Endgame (not even Tony or Steve) makes a lot sense.

-Speaking of good Marvel theories, this thread on the use of orange vs. purple during Gamora‘s scenes is masterful.

-Former That’s So Raven star Kyle Massey has been sued for $1.5 million for allegedly “attempting to commit a lewd act with a minor.”

-SNL is — once again — being accused of stealing jokes.

-The next #Bandersnatch: Netflix will air an interactive series “You vs. Wild” starring Bear Grylls in which the audience will have a chance to choose the storyline.

–Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are the cutest lil jellybeans ever.

-In an effort to stay on as star of The Flash on the big screen, Erza Miller has taken it upon himself to write his own script with the help of comics author Grant Morrison.

–Dean Cain thought it would be a good idea to drag Eggboy. It wasn’t.

–Diane Kruger showed off her perfect abs with an IG post — 4 months after giving birth. She says she doesn’t have a trainer. Still, I’d love to know how many hours a day she spent in the gym to look like this.

-I haven’t watched Shrill yet because it’s on Hulu which is hard to get here, but everyone on Twitter who’s seen it is raving about this pool party scene in particular. I really like this review.

–Jaime King and her daughter fight zombies in the trailer for Netflix’s Black Summer.

 

Bradley Cooper Joined Lady Gaga Onstage for Surprise Duet

–Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were shut out of the SAGs, but they made up for it when he joined her on stage in Vegas for a surprise duet of “Shallow.”

-The SAG Awards were a pretty low-key affair last night, but at least the red carpet was pretty.

-In case you missed last night’s telecast, the best speeches are here: from Chadwick Boseman and Sandra Oh.

-This is Us won best TV ensemble, but really I’d rather watch Sterling K Brown and his wife’s victory clap than another episode of that show.

-Though Black Panther won the top prize at the SAGs, it doesn’t change much for the Oscars because it doesn’t tend to be a great predictor.  The SAG winner has gone on to win the best picture Oscar in only 11 of 23 years. It’s still probably Roma vs Green Book.

-Wait, now the Oscars might drop Best Cinematography from the telecast? Come on!

–Liam Hemsworth talked about his “spur-of-the-moment” wedding to Miley Cyrus.

-Yay for Mindy Kaling! Her new movie Late Night broke Sundance records when it was bought for $13M by Amazon Studios. I love how she talked about it: “I wrote it for Emma Thompson. A person I did not know! So I was just this creep in my home writing fan fiction movie for me and Emma Thompson, a woman I don’t know, hoping she would one day read it.”

-The four-hour Michael Jackson documentary premiered to a standing ovation at Sundance, and his estate is already fighting back.

–Freida Pinto says L’Oreal lightened her skin in an ad campaign. “I said to my agent after the first controversy that I would like to see the pictures before, and I would like to be able to question them on colour correction.”

-Last night’s Rent Live wasn’t actually live because the guy who played Roger broke his foot at the second dress rehearsal and apparently they’ve never heard of understudies or wheelchair. It ended up getting the lowest ratings ever for a live musical so far.

-Who needs to wait for the Super Bowl to see the ads? Here is Cardi B’s Pepsi ad, while Carrie Bradshaw and The Dude return in a Stella Artois ad. (Because of course Carrie would drink beer?!?)

–Diane Kruger says Norman Reedus has been teaching her a lot about how to stay calm as a parent.

-Freeform is teaming with Laurence Fishburne to tell the story of Black Panther Party leader Elaine Brown and her daughter, Ericka Suzanne. The Gilmore Girls-meet-The Black Panthers pitch has me intrigued.

-I’m glad Netflix picked up Brie Larson‘s directorial debut, Unicorn Store. It got mixed reviews at TIFF but people seemed harsher to it than they needed to be.

–Naomi Campbell‘s cover of British Vogue is everything!

–Greg Berlanti, with a record 15 scripted series currently on the air, just landed his third pilot order of the season and his first at Fox. I mean, I love a lot of his shows but my god give someone else a shot, Hollywood!

-I’m not sure how I feel about Barry getting a season 2 (mostly because I adored how the first season ended), but this trailer is good.

-The only thing I know about Birds of Prey is from the CW which is … uh… not good. So I appreciated this explainer, because this teaser has me very excited. Chris Messina’s hair alone bought my ticket.
