The One Where Friends Reunited

-The first full trailer for the Friends reunion has arrived. This actually looks quite good (there seems to be at least three venue changes, including a table read) but it’ll be interesting to see if they follow Fresh Prince’s lead and have some warts-and-all conversations.

–Billy Porter opened up about his HIV-positive diagnosis  (which he’s kept secret since 2007) in an interview with THR. “My purpose, my calling, my ministry is about this conversation we’re having. Because the world needs to know what HIV-positive looks like.”

–A$AP Rocky confirmed that he’s in a serious relationship with Rihanna. “[She] amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones … I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.”

–Demi Lovato surprised fans with an early morning announcement: they identify as non-binary.

–Prince Harry will reportedly drop more ‘truth bombs‘ in his new Apple series with Oprah. I just listened to his podcast with Dax Shepard and was surprised at how candid he was, especially about how his father’s parenting style messed him up.

-Johnny Depp is at it again. He’s now asking the courts to order ACLU to show proof that Amber Heard donated her divorce settlement​ to them like she said she would.

-I’m surprised how underwhelmed I am by the Lollapalooza lineup. It’s in July, making it the first full capacity music festival we’ve seen in ages.

-Wow, I wasn’t expecting to love Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis‘ LA farmhouse as much as I do. Those ceilings!

-Bless Variety for breaking down all the Erika Jayne drama.

-One of Danny Masterson’s accusers delivered nearly six hours of tearful testimony at a preliminary hearing to determine if a trial will be ordered. She claimed the actor drugged and raped her at gunpoint.

–Marilyn Manson faces new a lawsuit, this one from his former assistant alleging sexual assault.

-The reviews for Netflix’s Master of None Season 3 seem to indicate it’s slow and boring.

-Wouldn’t it be great if Happy Endings being on Netflix leads to a resurgence for that show?

-I liked this profile on John Krasinski, which follows the making of the much-delayed A Quiet Place Part II.

More Ted Lasso Is On Its Way

-Ted Lasso is coming back way earlier than I expected — July 23! Here’s the season 2 trailer.  Rewatching this show got me through the worst of the pandemic (so far).

–Billie Eilish might be dating actor Matthew Tyler Vorce.

–Demi Lovato apologized for going apeshit on a frozen yogurt shop. She had called them out for their sugar-free, dairy-free, and low-fat options, calling them a “diet culture vulture”. They responded that those were options for customers with health restrictions such as vegans, celiacs, and diabetics. It was such a bizarre story to begin with, but the optics of going after a small business right now didn’t help.

-TikTok Star Bryce Hall has been sued for assault and battery after an altercation at an LA restaurant was caught on camera.

–Pete Davidson made it clear to Jake Paul that he’s not a fan.

-The cast of The Good Place (minus Kristen Bell) had a sleepover.

–E. Alex Jung profiles are always a must-read, but his conversation with Mads Mikkelsen is an instant classic. Mikklesen talks about the Hannibal finale (“We actually did a couple of takes of the very last scene where we were looking at each other, and it was a little too obvious — it was almost a kiss. Me and Hugh [Dancy] were like, ‘Why not? We have a couple of takes. Let’s do one. It might be cool’…Bryan [Fuller] loved it, but he was like, ‘Too much, guys. It’s too obvious'”), what it was like to become recognizable in Denmark after playing a TV cop (“Since then, I’ve never bought a normal Coca-Cola. –Taylor Swift‘s alleged stalker was arrested after he tried to break into her apartment. He apparently already has restraining orders from models Bella and Gigi Hadid.

-90210 reboot star AnnaLynne McCord shared her diagnosis of dissociative identity disorder. “All of my roles were splits, but I didn’t even realize I was doing it at all until I did 90210.”

-Game of Thrones’ Iron Anniversary seems to be an attempt to reverse the bitter taste the series finale left fans two years ago.

–Kate Winslet‘s new HBO show Mare of Easttown debuted to strong ratings. I’m glad; I dug it.

–Kim Kardashian freaked out when she found out she was an inspiration for Bridgerton’s wardrobe — and then quickly tried to finagle a set visit. I would too.

-I keep forgetting that the Oscars are this weekend! Steven Soderbergh, who’s one of the producers, says “You’ll feel like you’re watching a movie.”

-Here’s the trailer for Annette, a musical drama starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard, which is set to open Cannes on July 6. This trailer screams “not for me!!”

-I feel like a shirtless Justin Theroux cradling his dog on the cover Esquire is just what the world needs right now, ya know? The whole interview is great but the part that’s making headlines is when he talks about his divorce from Jennifer Aniston: “I would say we’ve remained friends. We don’t talk every day, but we call each other…Like it or not, we didn’t have that dramatic split, and we love each other. I’m sincere when I say that I cherish our friendship. We can not be together and still bring each other joy and friendship. Also, she makes me laugh very, very hard. She’s a hilarious person. It would be a loss if we weren’t in contact, for me personally. And I’d like to think the same for her…I think that when you get good at relationships—and here I am, single—if you love the person the same way you loved them in the relationship, it would behoove you to love them the same way out of the relationship. Who wants to take a shit while you’re walking out the door?”

-After a month of speculation, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have officially announced their breakup: “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so.”

-According to Us Weekly, they really did try to salvage their relationship for their children’s sake.

–Ben Affleck is looking really healthy and happy on the set of George Clooney’s new movie. Just in case JLo is wondering…

–Cassie Randolph is reportedly “still processing” the news that Colton Underwood is gay. If I were here, I’d be still processing the fact that he allegedly stalked her and put a tracking device on her car. (Which he sort of addressed this week by saying “I made mistakes in the end of that relationship.”)

–Morgan Wallen says “I’ve really worked on myself.” Good for him?

-Casting Pete Davidson to play Joey Ramone is quite the choice!

-Meanwhile, Pete Davidson and Phoebe Dynevor are now wearing matching necklaces.

–Regé-Jean Page’s Bridgerton costar explained his departure from the series. Adjoa Andoh (who plays Lady Danbury) said “We’re following the overriding framework of Julia Quinn’s beautiful novels. There are eight Bridgerton children: one down, seven to go. Season two it’s Anthony Bridgerton so there you are. That’s the arc of the show.”

-The Queen has told members of the royal family to not wear military dress when attending the funeral of Prince Philip.

-Meanwhile, she’s reportedly trying to use strategic seating arrangements to keep Harry and William from fighting.

–Demi Lovato is living with her best friend and loving life. “I was engaged to a dude and almost did that. And I was like, ‘That’s not the life for me.’ I want to have fun and I want to live with my friends. Let’s normalize that, you know.”

–Italia Ricci has landed the lead in Netflix’s The Imperfects. I really like her and haven’t seen her in anything lately beyond Hallmark films, so this is good.

–John Corbett says he will be in the Sex and the City revival in “quite a few” episodes, so I guess the future looks bright for Carrie and Aiden.

–Mads Mikkelsen is joining Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Indiana Jones 5.

-Yikes. Vulture has a piece on how Amazon’s Them is “one of the most anti-Black pieces of pop-culture in recent years.”

-The reviews for Kate Winslet‘s new HBO show Mare of Easttown, which debuts this weekend, is getting rave reviews. I’m glad; it feels like we’re in a TV drought.
