Buffy Mania Overtakes The Internet — And I Love It!

buffy-vampire-slayer-ew

-EW dropped a surprise Buffy reunion cover today — complete with an amazing photo shoot and a 44-minute video special — and my heart is so full! The only person missing is Anthony Stewart Head. (Nicholas Brendan is there too, but for some reason he isn’t in the group video chat. And he didn’t tag Alyson Hannigan in his FB post about it.) In any case, I’m really hoping my subscriber cover ends up being this one.

-I also really liked everyone’s take on Angel vs Spike. I love Spike as a character (especially in the spinoff) but attempted rapists are probably not meant to be part of the OTP.

Annette Bening ordered Warren Beatty home after the Best Picture fiasco at the Oscars. Smart woman.

-Costars/new couple Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood look like they’re having fun in Mexico. (I hate her high-cut bikini. And she has multiple versions of it!)

-The Mindy Project is only getting one more season, which is good. I’m looking forward to seeing what she does next.

-Studio head Sherry Lansing‘s new biography includes tidbits about Angelina Jolie‘s mandated drug testing during Tomb Raider’s filming, and Glenn Close’s protests at re-shooting Fatal Attractions’ ending after test audiences demanded her character die.

-Ouch! Charlize Theron is going for her fourth root canal thanks to stunts on Atomic Blonde.

George Clooney says he totally ready for parenthood: “I played a pediatrician on ER. So I know how to work on extra children…If there’s any accidents, I’m there. I’m the guy.”

-Meanwhile, Amal is probably not going to let him name their twins.

Emma Thompson says she almost quit a movie when a producer body-shamed her costar.

-I never watched Bones but I like this take on how it was an unconventional love story that upended the typical will-they/won’t-they schtick.

Kristen Bell and James Corden‘s aerial duet went hilariously wrong.

-Another writers’ strike might happen. I support the WGA but I really hope it doesn’t (the first strike was the kiss of death for a bunch of great new shows that could never recover, most famously Pushing Daisies).

Nicole Kidman says she’s haunted by those therapy scenes in Big Little Lies.  Same, girl.

Judy Greer loves watching montages of her kissing leading men like George Clooney, Ashton Kutcher and more. (Her “can I keep this?” is the cutest.)

-The People article about Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky’s relationship is…odd.

-Netflix is sticking to its Santa Clarita Diet, which just got a second season.

-Like everyone else, Alec Baldwin fell in love with Tina Fey when he first met her and asked if she was single. “When I first met Tina Fey — beautiful and brunette, smart and funny, by turns smug and diffident and completely uninterested in me or anything I had to say — I had the same reaction that I’m sure many men and women have: I fell in love.”

-Oh yeah, I forgot Prison Break returns Tuesday after seven years for a limited nine-episode run. I wonder if there’s a 5-minute series recap on YouTube?

-This is an interesting look at the rise of surreal TV. I’m kind of over shows that are pretty mind-screws that don’t actually amount to much (cough, Legion, cough).

-The trailer for the updated IT looks very, very good and I will never watch this movie.

-Here’s the trailer for Luc Besson‘s sci-fi adaptation Valerian, starring Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-her glimpse of Rihanna.

Kristen Stewart Says Her New Buzz Cut Is ‘Practical’

Kristen Stewart shaved her head and it looks amazing. “I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time and the director [of my new movie] suggested it…It feels amazing. I just want to head bang all day.”

Joe Manganiello is asking the media to chill out over the Batman movie. Sorry, wolf boy, that’s not how this works.

-Thanks to the podcast, Richard Simmons‘ status has been enough of a concern to trigger periodic check-ins by the LAPD, but police officers have determined that he is “perfectly fine.”

-Did Billy Ray Cyrus just let it slip that Miley is married?

Reese Witherspoon posted a photo of her with her lookalike daughter and the entire internet is flummoxed.

-Did Ray Liotta just imply that Drake once proposed to his Shades of Blue costar, Jennifer Lopez?

-Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez first met Alex Rodriguez in front of Marc Anthony.

Justin Timberlake, please sit down.

-I love how Twitter called out Time for tweeting that Amal Clooney was “showing off her baby bump” at the UN, when in actuality she was urging them to investigate allegations of genocide against ISIS.

-I love how the internet is basically drowning in coverage about the 20th anniversary of Buffy. I’ve Pocketed soo many other articles to read later, but these are some highlights from what I’ve read so far: Joss Whedon‘s memories, Vulture on Buffy’s legacy, the oral history of “Hush,”  Danny Strong’s explanation of why it’s a groundbreaking show, Amber Benson and David Boreanaz remembering their favourite moments, writer Jane Espenson‘s fave episodes, MTV’s look on how the show dealt with sexuality, Buzzfeed’s take on what it means to honour the show, James Marsters talking about the rape scene, and Sarah Michelle Gellar‘s Instagram post.

Felicity Huffman surprised Peter Krause with a mini Sports Night reunion.

-Also, Peter talked about how he had a shot with current girlfriend Lauren Graham years ago — he just didn’t know it at the time. “We had met on a show called Caroline in the City. She had me move some furniture into her apartment back then…but I didn’t catch the signal.”

-Supergirl’s Jeremy Jordan sat down with 20/20 to talk about his gay cousin who was held at Christian boarding school.

Kristen Bell thinks her husband might be trying to frame her for murder.

-Melissa Leo is the Most Hated Woman in America in the new trailer for the Netflix movie.
