Kristen Stewart Talks about Being “Hounded” About Her Sexuality

Kristen Stewart In Style Queer

Kristen Stewart gets candid in the new issue of InStyle, opening up about the pressure she once felt to label and discuss her sexuality in public. “I did feel an enormous pressure, but it wasn’t put on me by the [LGBTQA+] community. People were seeing those pictures and reading these articles and going, “Oh, well, I need to be shown.” I was a kid, and I felt personally affronted. Now I relish it. I love the idea that anything I do with ease rubs off on somebody who is struggling. That shit’s dope!”

-Also, Stewart looked amazing when she appeared (remotely) at this week’s Chanel show.

Kelly Rowland is pregnant with her second child — and debuted her baby bump on the cover of Women’s Health.

-SNL has dis-invited this week’s musical guest, country singer Morgan Wallen, after social media posts surfaced of him partying and kissing strangers this past weekend, despite’s SNL’s covid protocols. He said on Instagram: “My actions this weekend were pretty shortsighted and they obviously affected my longterm goals and dreams…I think I’ve lost myself a little bit. I’ve tried to find joy in the wrong places, and it’s left me with less joy.” Dude has a new baby, so it’s a bad look all around.

-Meanwhile, Maya Rudolph says shooting the SNL season premiere was “really difficult” due to the new protocols. “Everything was slower, it was harder to get things to cards, I didn’t really get my lines until air. So I had never run that sketch until we did it live.”

-This is nice: Ryan Reynolds is helping make sure students in Nunavut are properly dressed for winter by partnering with Canada Goose to send parkas to the more than 300 students at the Inuujaq School in Arctic Bay.

-I hope starring in the next Mission Impossible movie doesn’t get Hayley Atwell tangled up in Tom Cruise rumours, but I do hope it makes her a big star. Despite being in the Captain America films, I don’t think she’s as well-known as she should be.

Betty Gilpin wrote a eulogy for Glow for Vanity Fair, and man, every time I read anything she writes (whether it’s a tweet about being nominated for an award or an essay about having “pea-sized confidence with watermelon-sized boobs”), I just want to read more. She’s so, so funny. (“Panicked that I was never going to be able to support myself as an actor, a decade ago I did an arc on a show where you saw my areolas before you saw my face. Avoiding eye contact with ancestors’ ghosts, I bravely signed on to press my taint against the lens every four frames for Chipotle and weed money, while the other actors did real scenes in between.”) Get this woman a book deal!

Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston are heading back to the set of The Morning Show, which is scheduled to resume production this month. Steve Carell is also heading back for season 2 which is … a whole lotta why?

Sarah Jessica Parker wrote a passionate plea to save Broadway in Variety, saying “New York especially needs theatre because so many New Yorkers need theatre — the thousands of people employed directly and indirectly by the industry, doing collateral work, from the servers at the surrounding restaurants to the people responsible for dry-cleaning costumes.”

-A source tells Us Weekly: “Demi [Lovato] has been acting as though she was never engaged to Max [Ehrich] and that their relationship never happened. She is still not speaking to him and fully cut him out.” Well, yeah. That’s called moving on.

Macaulay Culkin‘s covid mask is perfection.

Armie Hammer was Jimmy Kimmel’s first in-person guest to be in the studio since covid started — and he wore a spacesuit for some reason.  Still looked better than he did in last month’s GQ.

Ruby Rose says her back injury was not the primary reason for her Batwoman departure. “We went into lockdown with COVID and thinking of in quarantine and locked down, there was a lot of thought and reflection and kind of everyone did it. We sort of mutually agreed that probably what was best for the show, um, at the time was they go in a different direction and I go in a different direction.” That is a very nice spin on it.

-I was really hoping that today’s news from The Postal Service would be an new album. Instead it’s a (admittedly funny) video about voting. In it, the band holds Zoom auditions with Anne Hathaway, Kenny G, Weird Al, Slash, Huey Lewis, Bret McKenzie, Vanessa Bayer, Ishmael Butler, Patton Oswalt and more.

Malin Akerman and Bella Thorne join an underground, all-female fight club in the trailer for Chick Fight.

-Here’s the latest trailer for News Of The World starring Tom Hanks, arriving in theatres on Christmas Day (supposedly).

-Hollywood is really excited because the trailer for Ryan Reynolds’ new movie Free Guy got 55 million views in 24 hours. Yeah, that doesn’t mean people will flock to theatres to watch it.

Emmys Red Carpet: Best and Worst Dressed

Red and pink dresses, pale blue gowns and side boob were the biggest fashion trends at the 2019 Emmy Awards red carpet. Here are my picks for the best and worst dressed of the night:

BEST DRESSED AT THE 2019 EMMYS:

Zendaya SLAYED the red carpet. She was one of the last stars to arrive and girl shut it down with this Poison Ivy-inspired corseted Vera Wang. She could, as the kids say, step on my neck.

Russian Doll’s Natasha Lyonne was dripping in gold Gucci. Impeccable styling, impeccable posing, impeccable attitude.

I feel like I’ve seen a version of Phoebe Waller-Bridge‘s Monique Lhuillier multiple times before but I don’t care. I still love her in it. If she isn’t going to wear the jumpsuit, this is a close second.

Regina King jumped on the baby blue bandwagon but added some extra flair with the straps on her Jason Wu dress.

GLOW star Betty Gilpin glowed in this sparkly Jason Wu dress paired with simple hair. I wish she’d had a bold lip but otherwise this is stellar.

WORST DRESSED AT THE 2019 EMMYS:

Look, I worship at the alter of Gwendoline Christie and I fully admit that she’s my personal Jesus. But that doesn’t mean I want her to dress like it.

The ladies of Game of Thrones should be taking a victory lap, as this is the last season the show is qualified for an Emmy. But they were uniformly underwhelming, especially Sophie Turner. She blended into her pale in Louis Vuitton — a dress that somehow managed to look both wrinkled and stiff.

There was a lot of weird bows or folds over boobs on this red carpet. There was also a lot of pale blue. Jameela Jamil in Monique Lhullier was my least fave in both these trends. It looked off-centered and awkward (though she gets points for admitting she did her own makeup).

It takes talent for a dress to look both too sheer and too heavy, but Amy Adams‘ dowdy Fendi managed to do just that.

Red and pink colour blocked dresses were a huge theme on the red carpet, worn by Marisa Tomei, Taraji P. Henson, Susan Kelechi Watson, and more. For my money (and I know I’m in the minority here), Mandy Moore was the most awkward in a droopy Brandon Maxwell dress that looked like it was always on the verge of falling off. The vampy hair and makeup were on point, though.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Split

-The big news of the weekend was that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are splitting after less than a year of marriage. The announcement came after came after Cyrus was photographed kissing Kaitlynn Carter, Brody Jenner’s ex, while on holiday in Italy.

Hemsworth was approached this morning by The Daily Mail Australia while out in Byron Bay. “You don’t understand what it’s like,” the actor told the outlet. “I don’t want to talk about it, mate.” 😢

-The Morning Show, Apple’s new show starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, released its first teaser. (It’ll be available via Apple TV but the cost still hasn’t been announced, which seems nuts since this streaming service is set to launch in like a month.)

Josh Kloss, the actor who played Katy Perry’s love interest in her 2010 “Teenage Dream” video (aka the best pop song of the last 10 years), shared a lengthy Instagram post detailing the alleged humiliation he suffered at the hands of the pop star. He said she was “cool and kind” in private but “cold as ice” whenever other people were around, and claims she once pants’d him in public.

Priyanka Chopra was at BeautyCon this past weekend and was asked about her previous tweet on the India–Pakistan conflict. Her response was not great, bob.

Kim Cattrall won’t stop talking about another Sex and the City movie — even if we wish she would. “It was a blessing in so many ways but after the second movie I’d had enough. I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t just replace me with another actress instead of wasting time bullying. No means no.”

Lady Gaga is donating school supplies to the communities of El Paso, Dayton, and Gilroy.

-The Teen Choice Awards always make me feel old, but last night’s was especially a doozy. So many YouTube stars I don’t care about!

Chris Evans tweet-flirting with Yvette Nicole Brown on her birthday is very cute.

Olivia Colman is my queen — and now she’s everyone’s. Netflix released the first look at the actress as Queen Elizabeth II in season three of The Crown, out Nov 17.

Sarah Silverman says she was recently fired from new movie after a photo of her in blackface from her show resurfaced. (She’s talked about it before, calling it her most “regrettable joke” back in 2015). “There’s a still of me on Twitter in blackface and it’s totally out of context and I tweeted it when Twitter was new and the people who followed me watched that show and it was from that show. Now it’s forever there and it looks…it’s totally racist out of context and I regret that.”

-Alanis Morissette‘s third child, Winter Mercy Morissette-Treadway, was born last week.

-Based on a Trump remark and some conservative faux-paranoia around a movie no one has even seen yet, Universal has cancelled The Hunt release. This makes no sense — not only have movies like The Purge franchise existed for years, if anything right-wingers should love a film about poor people rising up to defeat rich elites. What’s it gonna take for us to get Betty Gilpin: action star?!

-In happier news, The Farewell continues to be the lil’ movie that could. It has boosted its domestic haul to $10.2 million.

-Netflix dropped the first trailer for My Name Is Dolemite starring Eddie Murphy as comedy and rap pioneer Rudy Ray Moore.
