-Meanwhile, this tongue-in-cheek deep-dive into the validity of their relationship is hilarious. “Nicholas Jonas married into a fraudulent relationship against his will this past Sunday, December the 2, and I’ll tell you why I think so.”

-Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer looks amazing on the cover of Wonderland. I hope she becomes a huge star.

-Great forking news: The Good Place just got an early renewal for season 4, so maybe 2018 isn’t a total garbage fire.

-Meanwhile, here’s more scoop on who’s leaking all those stories from the palace.

-GQ interviewed a bunch of people about the late Anthony Bourdain and collected their stories, and goddammit the resulting article made me weepy. “He turned to Tony and said, ‘How far can you keep going? Where else can you go? You can’t go to the moon!’ And Tony goes, ‘Really? Why not? I’ll go to the moon and make an episode on the moon. I’ll go anywhere.'”

-The CW is developing a Jane The Virgin spin-off series that will be written by long-time show writer Valentina Garza and will involve Gina Rodriguez.

–Kayne West apologized after being caught on his phone at Cher‘s Broadway show. (This is in no way an excuse, but apparently the show is really, really bad.)

-Wait, Demi Moore allegedly has a secret girlfriend? I can’t believe I missed this until now!

-Netflix will reportedly pay WarnerMedia $100M in 2019 to continue streaming Friends (up from $30M). This is NUTS — especially because it will soon be available on another streaming site next year.

-BBC just announced that Luther will air on New Year’s Day. Perfect hangover cure!

-The big guns came out for Ryan Murphy’s Walk of Fame star ceremony, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson.

-The Actors on Actors interviews always result in some interesting pairings. The latest has Timothee Chalamet and Emma Stone talking about dealing with rejection, Melissa McCarthy and Lupita Nyong’o discussing women in Hollywood, Charlize Theron and Michael B Jordan talking about the impact of Black Panther, and Lady Gaga and Lin-Manuel Miranda talking about writing Shallow.

-Variety’s list of 10 directors to watch for 2019 includes 6 women.

-People are loving the new Captain Marvel trailer. (Though I’m not quite sure why people are calling it a “course correction” because I loved the first trailer too.)

–George Clooney was honoured at Thursday’s AFI Life Achievement Award gala with tributes from Jimmy Kimmel, Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, Cate Blanchett, Don Cheadle, Julianna Marguiles, and Bill Murray. But it was Amal Clooney‘s heartfelt speech that brought the house down.

-Man, the news of Anthony Bourdain’s suicide has hit me hard. His advice was so ingrained into the planning all of my trips that I feel like I lost a friend. Many of my most memorable meals while travelling can be traced directly back to his recommendations, whether it was eating raw chicken in Barcelona, indulging in the most expensive meal I’ll ever eat in Copenhagen, or having the best Thai food of my life in a Vegas strip mall. His attitude of losing all pretension and enjoying meals to the fullest carried with me on each of those experiences, which is why we asked so many questions at Noma that we ended up getting a private tour of their food lab, it’s why we ate so much at Tickets that a rude old man stopped by our table to snipe “my wife and were just wondering if you actually ordered everything on the menu,” it’s why a British waiter at the Michelin-starred Bar Boulud sniffed “Ladies don’t usually order this much” before we’d even gotten halfway through our order. His shows and books made my life better. I will miss him greatly.

–Val Kilmer can keep his thoughts on how Bourdain‘s suicide is “selfish” to himself.

-There are some wild rumours floating around this week about David and Victoria Beckham, but the couple’s spokesperson says the divorce whispers circulating around are “all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time…it’s a crock of sh*t.” Bless British publicists for putting out the bluntest denials!

-Congrats to Hilary Duff, who’s expecting baby No. 2.

-I like The Star’s Peter Howell. I think he’s the best movie critic in Canada, I almost always agree with his opinions (and even when I don’t, I understand where he’s coming from), he and his fellow Cdn reviewers took me under their wing the first time I went to Cannes, and he’s always been very lovely whenever I see him out and about. But questions like “and what of the men?” are exactly why I mentioned yesterday that I don’t want to read any Ocean’s 8 reviews by male critics.

–Brandon Routh is the best, so I’m tickled he’s featured in the new Sugarland/Taylor Swift music video.

-ABC has apologized for a Quantico episode in which Indian terrorists plotted an attack in Manhattan with the goal of blaming Pakistan for it.. Yikes.

-The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil continues to be awesomely outspoken. She criticized the casting of Emile Hirsch in the new Tarantino film: “So many other actors who haven’t attacked women to choose from.”

-After Variety’s announcement of an all-male TV drama writers panel, screenwriter Liz Hannah reached out to female writers and showrunners on Twitter and within 24 hours she’d organized a counter-panel with 19(!) women, enough for two separate panels.

-Showtime released the trailer of Kidding, its 10-episode, straight-to-series comedy starring Jim Carrey.

-In an interview with Vanity Fair, Pusha T says his feud with Drake is done: “I’m ready to be back to the music for real.”

-My day job is in social media and I always tell my clients facing negative reviews or an sm crisis: say you’re sorry, listen, and learn. Even if in your heart of hearts you don’t feel like you did anything wrong, you don’t get to decide if and why someone else is offended. So after his earlier snafu this week, I expected Stephen Amell to make nice in the days leading up to his next cash cow fan convention. I did NOT expect him to post a video (FF to the 11 min mark) in which he refused to apologize for offending people during Ramadan, told everyone to “just relax” and not “take the world so f*cking seriously,” claimed that the person he responded to had been disrespectful in the past (sure, maybe, but context is key — he didn’t clap back to a harassing post; he clapped back to a polite, respectful post explaining the significance of the mosque he was joking about), insisted he’s very nice to people at conventions (where they’re paying to meet him), and THEN urged everyone “to be better to one another.” What in the halfpenny f*ck is that?! Seriously, no one expects actors to be good at everything, including handling a social media crisis. But they have the money and power to hire someone who is.

-Sadness: Sons of Anarchy star Alan O’Neill has died at the age of 47.

–Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her iconic role as Laurie Strode in the new Halloween trailer.

Leslie Jones Had the Most Fun at the Emmys

–Leslie Jones was all of us by getting selfies at the Emmys with pretty much every TV star alive. And also John Mayer.

-Like Leslie, Pedro Pascal also seemed to  make the most of his time at the Emmys.

-That was a shockingly great Emmy Awards, right? It ended on time, was surprisingly inclusive, and (Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Game of Thrones’ aside) honoured plenty of new blood and niche series (Regina King won the ONLY Emmy for a network show last night). It’s the first time in years the show didn’t leave me rage-y. I even loved most of the dresses!

-Of course, the Emmy telecast hit an all-time ratings low because life.

-The kids from Stranger Things performed “Uptown Funk” at the Emmys preshow. God, I love them so much.

-Speaking of the Stranger Things cast, Steve’s hair really does look like that IRL!

–Tom Hiddleston flirting with Priyanka Chopra makes a lot more sense to me than whatever that Hiddleswift stuff was.

-Also, the after-party photos are further proof that we all need to go drinking with Matthew Rhys.

-Friday Night Light stars Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler gave me all the feels this week, first with her birthday wish to him and then with their reunion pic.

-Whoa. I don’t usually put a lot of stock in Radar stories but they’ve reportedly been working on this one about an A-lister involved in a a Hollywood pedophile sex ring for four years. And whoa. We’ll have to see if anything comes of it.

-My Name Is Earl star Jason Lee is the latest celeb to flee Scientology.

–Shailene Woodley says she’s “always dreamed” of writing a book on female masturbation. It’s good to have dreams.

–Bella Thorne (who was reportedly dating her brother’s ex-girlfiend recently) was spotted kissing Tyler Posey (who recently pretended to come out). Kids today!

–Gillian Anderson has no problem with all the talk about reinventing James Bond with her as the lead. (Nor do I.)

-I have yet to finish Fargo season 2, but season 3 will star Ewan McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Carrie Coon so I’m already in.

-Fall TV officially starts tonight with the premiere of the new Kristen Bell sitcom The Good Place, which is getting great reviews. (The fact that NBC is airing three episodes this week before settling into its regular timeslot is hella confusing, though.)

-Probably the best-reviewed new show of the season, This Is Us, also debuts this week. The only bad review I’ve read so far still makes me want to watch it, just for this: “This Is Us is invigoratingly heinous. Bad TV is a commonplace, but a true Mount Everest of bullshit is rare.” (Though I swear to god, if the big twist in the pilot is that Mandy Moore dies, I’m gonna throat punch someone. Girlfriend’s been trying to land a steady TV gig for a decade!)

–Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow played Friends trivia and killed it.

-Aww, this really bums me out: Anthony Bourdain and his wife Ottavia Busia have split after 9 years together.

-This is a really good look at how FX became TV’s best, most reliable network.

–Michael Shannon was my favourite thing about Nocturnal Animals. I love him. I also love that he just freely slammed directors, saying Woody Allen and Alexander Payne are “not nice.”

–Amal Clooney says that George gets worried when she takes ISIS leaders to trial. No doubt.

-I had a great time at this year’s TIFF (which you can read all about here), but I fully agree with Variety’s take on how it’s become a bit of a dumping ground. It’s trying to be both an industry buying hotspot and a cinephile’s festival, and it can no longer pull it off.

-Yikes. Will Ferrell just dropped out of his next project days before shooting was supposed to begin.

-Wait, the girl who played Marissa is joining The Good Wife spinoff? But I’ve already vowed to not watch it!

-Everyone’s hating on Jimmy Fallon for his Donald Trump interview but like, what exactly were they expecting?

-This article on the significance behind Shonda Rhimes’ characters’ alcohol preferences is the perfect antidote to Mondays.

-I mean, does a couple that’s only been together 6 weeks really warrant articles on their breakup?
