Melissa McCarthy’s Beautiful Week

Melissa-McCarthy-People-Beautiful-Issue

-It’s a big week for Melissa McCarthy. She’s fronting People’s 2023 Beautiful Issue, and she’s getting buzz for her rendition of “Poor Unfortunate Souls” in the new Little Mermaid, which was previewed at CinemaCon.

-If there was ever any doubt that Ezra Miller’s behaviour would be ignored by the time The Flash promotion started, that doubt was solidly quashed yesterday when entertainment reporters started tweeting their overly effusive reactions to the film’s screening at CinemaCon. (This one made me laugh, tho.) This sums it up for me: “If you can’t bring your star on stage to sell the film they star in, maybe…they shouldn’t be starring in that film.”

-In his new Variety profile, Joshua Jackson talks about returning to Wilmington, NC (where Dawson’s Creek was filmed) to shoot his next series (“The very different place than I am in my life, being able to come back and have a new experience of Wilmington, it’s not lost on me”), the legacy of the teen drama (“Dawson’s Creek never ever thought that young people are stupid. Gossip Girl was trying to be in the zeitgeist and be cool to kids. We were all nerdy kids. It doesn’t have to be Euphoria to have an impact”), and what his wife thinks about his risqué sex scenes in Fatal Attraction (“Jodie kind of enjoys them, actually. It’s a weird thing where she’s like a voyeur. So that works! If that’s your thing — excellent”).

-I love that Josh Segarra‘s star is on the rise. I’ve been a fan since Arrow and Orange Is the New Black, and he seems like a genuinely solid dude.

-Wow, I forgot about half of this stuff in this review of Tiffany Haddish‘s history of problematic behavior.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau said he and Jennifer Garner had to smell each other intensely as part of a bonding exercise before they started shooting The Last Thing He Told Me.

-Don’t tell Patti LuPone! Cara Delevingne has joined Kim Kardashian in the new season of American Horror Story.

Gigi Paris unfollowed Glen Powell on Instagram and then posted this, so they seem dunzo.

Danny Masterson’s former girlfriend shared disturbing testimony about their relationship in his retrial yesterday.

-Black Mirror is set to return with a new season on Netflix. Check out the trailer starring Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Salma Hayek, and more.

-The season two trailer for the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That features John Corbett and Victor Garber.

-See the trailer for Pedro Almodóvar‘s gay cowboy short Strange Way Of Life, starring Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke and world premiering at Cannes. You had me at “gay cowboys.”

Megan Fox defends a casino from a heist in the trailer for Johnny & Clyde.

Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen play BFFs struggling through a mid-life crisis in the trailer for their new series Platonic.
