Kristen Bell Doesn’t Shy Away From “Hard Topics” with Her Kids

Kristen Bell sometimes comes off like a bit of an over-sharer and it sounds like that might extend to her kids. She covers Real Simple’s “Game Changers” issue and says: “There should be no topic that’s off the table for people to talk about. I know it’s shocking, but I talk to my kids about drugs, and the fact that their daddy is an addict, and he’s in recovery, and we talk about sex. There are all these ‘hard topics’ that don’t have to be if you give the person on the other end your vulnerability and a little bit of credit.”

Erykah Badu covers Vogue and talks about her relationship with fashion: “I didn’t know all the houses and names of designers until I was in my 30s or 40s. What I had was a good understanding of look and shape, the way I did with paper dolls when I was a child. For me, it’s about seeing things coming together, like making a cake from beginning to end.”

Sam Asghari is pushing back on Entertainment Tonight and TMZ’s reports of a planned intervention for Britney Spears. He issued a statement to Access Hollywood: “An intervention did not occur. My wife is in full control of her life and will continue to make all decisions involving her care regardless of circumstances. Speculation on her health is inappropriate and should end immediately.” (Interestingly, neither outlet reported that an intervention took place — it was that one was planned but then scrapped when she got wind of it.)

-Whatever you think of injectables, I think it’s kind of cool that Joe Jonas is a spokesperson for a Botox-like brand. At least he’s a celeb who admits he’s messing with his face.

-The new Harry Potter video game continues to create controversy. It reportedly has some antisemitic stuff around the goblins (which, if I’m remembering correctly, the books did too).

Adrianne Curry deactivated her Twitter account after body-shaming The Last of Us star Melanie Lynskey. Buh-bye!

-There was a test screening for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie and first reactions are always so biased, but I’m hopeful by how positive these are.

-He plays an unrepentant serial killer so this feels like a weird place to draw a moral line, but Penn Badgley says he requested less sex scenes in the new season of You. “I asked Sera Gamble, [the] creator, ‘Can I just do no more intimacy scenes?’ This was actually a decision I had made before I took the show. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it publicly, but one of the main things is, ‘Do I want to put myself back on a career path where I’m always [the] romantic lead?'” The actor, who is married to Domino Kirke, added, “Fidelity in every relationship — especially in a marriage — is important to me…It got to a point where [I thought], ‘I don’t want to do that,’ so I said to Sera, like, ‘My desire would be zero [intimate scenes], to go from 100 to zero.”

-This is a really interesting piece on the conversation surrounding Madonna’s face.

-Lots of people are saying they’re cancelling Netflix as Canada became one of the first countries to force users to input their location in an effort to crack down on password sharing. I’m so curious to see their subscription numbers next quarter.

-I love that the And Just Like That team are easing us all into a Carrie/Aiden relationship again before the new season. The shots Sarah Jessica Parker posted (especially the 2nd) are really cool though.

-We’ll get a dump of new trailers during the Super Bowl, but Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves released theirs early.

-The big trailer release today was for Fast X, which sees Vin Diesel go up against a vengeful Jason Momoa, and Brie Larson in the mix.
