-God, this Jeremey Renner story is awful — and more serious-sounding than the first reports. The Marvel actor remains in critical but stable condition in the ICU following two surgeries after suffering “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” resulting from an accident with his snow plow.
–Angelina Jolie was pictured grabbing coffee with Paul Mescal after she stopped by the Almeida theatre in London, U.K. recently to watch him perform in A Streetcar Named Desire. Everyone is trying to speculate about a possible romance but her daughter was with them so I’m guessing it was just a friendly meetup.
-Speaking of Paul Mescal, I finally watched Aftersun and it might be the most affecting film I saw that came out in 2022. The ending was such an emotional wallop. This is the best (very spoilery) thing I’ve read about it so far.
-There is a lot of talk about Aaron Taylor-Johnson being the reported frontrunner for James Bond — and I don’t hate it.
–Bad Bunny is not apologizing for throwing a fan’s phone in a river when she got up in his face with it, as seen in this video. “Anyone who comes up to me to say hello, to tell me something, or just to meet me, will always receive my attention and respect. [But] those who come to put a damn phone in my face, I’ll consider that what it is: a lack of respect and I’ll treat that the same way.”
-British people like hating on Meghan Markle, but frankly it feels like Prince Harry is the one who wants to burn it all down. He was interviewed by Anderson Cooper and was even more explicit about other family members leaking stories to the press. “Every single time I tried to do it privately, there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife.” Here’s the clip.
-There were a lot of tributes to Barbara Walters this weekend, but this clip from The View where a bunch of female journalists honoured her on her last day was lovely.

-Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler has been hit with a lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl and carrying on an illicit affair with her, which the suit alleges ended with him insisting she get an abortion.
-Netflix has canceled German period sci-fi series 1899, from the creator of Dark, after just one season. I like this theory that a new Netflix live-action series has to accrue 100 million hours watched in its first full week to avoid cancellation. That seems about right. They don’t care about growing viewership or cultivating an audience — it’s got to be a banger out of the gate, even if it drops off quickly after that. Basically, this makes me not want to invest the hours into a new show unless Netflix has put out press releases raving about its first week numbers — but if everyone thinks like that, nothing will ever get good ratings that first week.
-Whoever started the rumour that Wednesday will be moving from Netflix to Amazon Prime in season two appears to be wrong.
–Allison Williams gave the best statement yet about being a nepo baby. “There’s no conversation about my career without talking about the ways in which I have been fortunate. It doesn’t feel like a loss to admit it. If you trust your own skill, I think it becomes very simple to acknowledge.”
–Kim Kardashian recently sat down with Angie Martinez and talked about how hard it is to co-parent with Kanye West.
–This story kind of got lost in the holiday shuffle, but Courtney Love says she was cast in Fight Club until Brad Pitt got her fired because she rejected his pitch for a Kurt Cobain movie. She added to her comments on Instagram, saying “I don’t like the way he does business or wields his power” and that she wasn’t going to say anything but he keeps pitching it. “I told the story because I felt Pitt would not stop pursuing Kurt — unless I said it in public.”
-Meanwhile, Pitt and his new girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, rang in the new year on holiday together in Cabo San Lucas.
